Tried this last night using the command

/chatRoom join etc.

When i log off and log back on again, I'm no longer in the chat room even though it still exists. Do I have to log back onto the chatroom each time I connect ?

Okay latest update with this ongoing saga. The tab is created everytime I log in now but it does not "join" me to the channel. I right click and select modify and it shows me as connected to the channel. Yet when I click join channel it does not have the star next to the channel indicating that I am connected to it.

Looks like this may be a bug. Has anyone else had any problems similar to this.

sounds like you're trying to invent the spoon agin

what i do: I log in, i mark my city chat channel, i type hi city and the msg is there and i will get a reply back from the same channel.

try having 1-2 persons logged in at the channel, then you log out and log back in, then type, hi or what you want.

When I was mayor back in its hay day of old, the first few months after the patch this idea was proposed. It was never heard, or maybe it was shot down, I don't know. People proposed alternatives of creating a macro that creates or joins the existing channel and getting all your citizens to do that. BUT people are lazy, and if they ain't in the channel when they load in most likely they won't join unless asked. NOW we have had several channels added to the game whether it be spaced based(SPACE channel) or ground based(AUCTION channel) and it seems that it is not that hard to do... SO... this city chat idea should be implementable and rather easy it seems if these channels are now in game and not very much preparation put into them(talking about the auction channel here, doubt 5 months of development went into it).

Can someone go necro the petition for city chat from Nov 2003.
