Thread: 2k per week income tax to be raised?
Why isnt it a % tax, like 0-20% of each mission is taxed off to the city.
It would seem to me that this would not cripple the casual player, but would instead allow for us to have taxes that actually paid for the city maintenence.
An idea like this would take some meager amount of intelligence which the devs seem to lack as of late.
Why don't you pass that idea along to them and see if they can figure something out.
A static 2k per week tax is just plain stupid, it should be able to be raised up to 10k, and if the citizens dont like the taxes, they can complain and get a new mayor or they can move out and find somewhere else to live. I grow weary of paying for the maintenence out of my pocket. taxes should pay the maintenence and then some so that the mayors and other higher ups arent paying for all the buildings and all the maintenence.
Dayln,
Out of curiosity... how much money are you (and your guild) voluntarily giving to the town each week?
I know that it isnt your guild that runs the town, so Im wondering what incentive there is for you to donate money.
I recieved aprox 750K in donations this week so far, and aprox 1M last week... from several players... in several different guilds.
Is this unusual, or is every Mayor seeing this philanthropic behaviour?
It is the sort of spirit we are trying to foster in Asylum... along with everyone working together to make it a great City. I can see it also working in well organised PA run cities, but Im not sure it would work in some of the lose (no rules) type cities... the type that you have claimed you want them all to be.
City costs are realy a bit highter than i think they should be. I have no problem with the base city cost, or the cost of Shuttleport etc... as these add to the attraction of the city, but the cost of decorations is too high in my opinion. It's a real disincentive to make the place actualy LOOK good.
my town does decent with a 2k a week and 22% prop tax
we just barely meet cost
but we also all donate thats why we have a decent buffer amount
Daylin, we also have many people giving donations but that is not what I am after, I dont want to run on donations I want the City to work without themthrough a simple, effective taxing system. Just coming in and saying people complaining are making you laugh isnt getting things discussed.
So what if aCity isnt supported by a wealthy PA and the City has to go on it's taxes and not donations? Are you really saying that bumping up property tax so the casual player runs the risk of losing his house and all its contents is better than just upping the income tax?
I agree with you on yoru goal. Which is why the aproach I would take is a ballance of taxes of all types. But I am not in your position.
Just my opinion, no big deal ![]()
The head tax is a nice across the board tax that has no real conquences, keep it low so people dont freak out.
The sturcture tax is an excelent tax that people will hardly notice. And it puts more burdon on people that use Ghosts, another good thing.
The shuttleport tax helps to spread more tax to people that actually use the facitilites
The sales tax is another way to do the same thing.
I would use a spread.
I got sidetracked....
do I agree?
hmmmmmmm.....
I think I see why they did that, but I see your point too.
2k seems a little low for the cap. But there does need to be one.
I guess I just agreed. ( rare for me )

The cap was chosen so as to not burden the casual player. There really are people out there who don't live for this game every waking hour.
But Plinka, I think many casual players would rather pay a flat weekly tax then worry about additional property taxes, which are much harder to keep track of.
I know that as a non-casual player I'd much rather be paying 5K or more a week, with a handy email reminder, than worrying about increased maintainance drains on my property.
