Thread: 2k per week income tax to be raised?
I like to know this too. A 2k income tax isn't all that much, at most (for the higher level cities) it will only pay for 1/3-1/2 your city maitenance unless you have over 100 citizens. Even if you have taxes in every single tax that can be placed, most cities will run with a deficit. My city, Crystal Valley, has a 2k income tax and it pays for a little over 1/3 of the maitenance. We have been having to rely on donations. It be nice if taxes actually allow the city to run with a profit or atleast not a deficit.
You can do a couple of missions in an hour to get 5k and this is a weekly cap, you really telling me even the most casual player cant make 10k per week easily?
Our outgoings are something like 225k per week with 70 citizens. Making Cities rely on donations is mad. The most casual players in my PA are the combat types as they have done everything on their way up to maxing their character and now feel there is nothing left for them to do in game, they mainly keep playing to keep in touch and jump on for events we stage. These players have amassed a decent bank balance and do not, when they do log in, think of donating to the city/PA anymore as it is the last thing on their mind, their 2k goes out every week and they are happy with that, Im not, it's no where near enough and I feel like I'm bugging them for more credits when they occassionaly log into the game, nice welcome back guys, give me your creds.
If the reason is the casual player then I am really dissapointed. How does upping the maintenance tax not effect the casual player but income tax does? If the casual player doesnt pay income tax through lack of funds what happens? and if he doesnt pay buliding maintenance he loses his house and its contents. See the casual player arguement is a pathertic one in my eyes and I see no logic in it at all.
Im not having a go at you Plink I just dont see why we should be put through the ringer trying to balance things when we are trying to log into a game to have fun.
So far I am not finding this fun without a full breakdown of where my income is coming from and juggling funds and having my financiers bank roll the city while we work the ins and outs is just not funny, fun, thought out or enjoyable. I have been a steadfast supporter of this game with very little to complain about. PA's and PA Hall set up was never implimented well or thought out but we all lived with it and plodded along, Player Cities are going the same way but will fail if things are not sorted quickly because very few people will put up with this in a game that is meant to be fun to play. Im not scared of hard work but Im not paying to do it and Im not putting up with the agro from our city residents because of this system being implimented badly.

The cap was chosen so as to not burden the casual player. There really are people out there who don't live for this game every waking hour.
I suggest that they dont join a city with high aspirations/taxes then. What a dumb argument (I assume that was an official Dev argument there).
wow what a great idea!! Make your visitors pay solely for you having a City!!!
NEXT!
Do you realise how much sales/sales tax you would need to generate to fund a city?
If ya cant balance an extremely simple budget like the one we are faced with, maybe you should go into carbineir or scout or something.
Easily headed for a class 5 this Friday and we are in the black. Have been since day one, it isnt too terribly difficult to do. 3 taxes to set and one fee==cake.
It isnt that hard, you tax a litle bit in each catagory.
Lowhead tax so as not to hurt the casual player
Slightly higher sales tax to generate from business
Agood fee on shuttle port usage ( probably the most often used item, and you get it form a wide range of folks![]()
A slight increase in building pay mantenance ( people will hardly notice )
Suplement this with your PA funds as needed ( com one people our tiny little PA generates well over a million a week ). As 9 out of every 10 cities are total PA entities anyway.
Ok so it's not that hard......
Keep head tax low so not to hurt the casual player, up building tax so casual player if he doesnt play often loses his house and contents if he doesnt keep up maintenance. Hmmm, think I'd rather have increased income tax thanks.
Increased sales tax. Hmmm, you dont think people will buy elsewhere? Ohh the crafter suplimant it by lowering their prices!! Ok, so you have now made the crafters pay more than the rest of the population, great tactic!!
Increase shuttle fees. Way to put off people from visiting regular. Just out of interest what are you putting on your shuttle fee?
So all of this is much easier than a flat increased income tax so everyone in the city pays the same each week? As for saying the PA will pay for it, we have 2 PA's and many residents who are not in either PA so what might be good for you isnt good for normal Cities with a varied populous.
Our city is primarily casual players, and they volunteer an EXTRA 10k a week often without thinking its any kind of burden . . . at least I should hope not, considering they're the ones opting to do so. Because of this, I think that the option for 5k a week would be completely reasonable.
