Thread: Petition To Allow Mayors To Move Housing
I would sure love this feature ... not only because it is one of the things the devs originaly promised us as a tool ... but it would really be something that would help a mayor ...
But ... I see to much plossible "griefing" involved ... and also it would probably be way to "hard" to code ... so that you don't delete all the items in the building you're moving (I guess this might be the main reson the devs didn't even try this)
I dont think that the mayor should be able to move houses however i do think that a better city planning tool is needed. I think that the Mayor should be able to view the overhead map and he should be allowed to zone area's residential, comercial, industrial, and Military/Defense. This would allow the mayor to control to some degree the growth of the city and all that would have to really be added would be some commands to differentiate the zoning rights. This would also give new mayors something to do while they wait for exp. This way houses can only go up where you want them. One of the problem's i saw with the xfer structure command is I too have a PA and i have no lots and when you do use this feature it restricts your militia from being able to bring new people to the city. I dont know about the rest of you but i started completely from scratch ..... no guild with 50 members to get me going so recruiting new residents is a top priority and having multiple people able to grant rights is a must. but that is just my opinion i could be wrong

I think this should be allowed. We have 1 resident who placed a WAREHOUSE, not a home, in an aukward position. This happened before the city hall was down and she was told it immediately after before she had too many things in it. She said that she'd like to leave it like that for the time being.
After the city cap was removed and the CH placed, we again requested that she allow us to reposition her warehouse, even offering to do it for her, moving everything while she slept or whatever, redecorating it as we found it, and transfering the structure back to her again the next day. She has again adamantly refused, and has removed herself from our residency. So she now occupies 2 lots in our city, and contributes nothing other than an aukwardly placed structure in our town.
This is not a drastic move. She gets to keep her location, her lot etc. We would only like to nudge her house a grand total of 8m and reorientate it.
So yes, I am in favour of being able to move a structure. And for GRIEFERS such as this, some mechanism to encourage her learning to live with other people. Maybe a way to set structure taxes independently from the rest of the city, or to seal her houses.
However, I would like to avoid the "permanent" solution as outlined in an above thread.
I had lifted the restrictions to build in the city, I had a person droping a pa hall for me, we couldn't meet in person so i lifted the restriction.
In that time frame our guild killed a jedi. A member of the guild that lost the jedi came over and placed a house. then he started shouting negative things about our guild and city, and got everyone upset. I have no issue with him in our city or were he placed the house. but he is going to far by upsetting the other city residents.
I placed 2 lamp posts over his door. that read contact the mayor. now all i have to do is wait for the house to disappear.
I know this is extreme but what are your thoughts on it?
It CAN NOT happen.
I would like to see this too, but the problem is with items within the house. Because the house is a deed and not a container, any / all items within would be destroyed if it were moved.
A couple months back, I had placed an extractor where I thought an empty space was - turns out it was"clipped" through into a houseand blocked the door. After completing a bug report, a CSR simply "moved" the estractor.. Well, either he didn't pay attention to where he moved it to or it magically moved by itself, but.. When it was moved to the adjacent location, it .. uhm, sorta was placed on top of a guilds' PA hall.
It over-wrote the PA hall, destroying it and everything inside. Additionally, their guild was disbanded because the PA hall no longer existed.
The house has a position in the world. This information is stored by the server. Objects within a house have a position in the world. This information is also stored by the server. The fact that those objects are in the house is again stored by the server.
Best Case: The objects within a house have a position relative to the house. To move a house and all it's contents simply requireschanging the position of the house within the world.
Worst Case: The objects within a house have a position relative to the world. To move a house requires changing the position of the all of the contents as well as the house.
Worst case simply takes a bit longer. I suspect this would be pretty trivial to implement if it ever got prioritized.
I'm going with Worst case. The only condition for dropping an item in a houseis probably a "location check". When you move things around you will note it knows when you are inside vs outside the room. Given that, the effort to implement something as trivial as this is way over the reward received. I'm assuming they have bigger fish to fry and have no interest in adding features like this.

That would be nice, but it would be totally unrealistic - in which city do you know that allows someone's house to be removed without their consent?
The trick to being a good mayor is PLANNING - you have to be careful about who you allow to live in your city, and WHERE they place their houses.
The ability to remove houses would simply be fix for bad planning - and I speak as the Mayor of a bustling metropolis with over 100 people and 10,000 visitors a week.
Alas, the Devs have many more important things to worry about!

As a mayor with three players who have not logged on in over a month, my guild and I are prtetty sure they have cancled. There houses are in the way of developement as they were placed b4 i started the plan. They must have put a ton into maitnence bcs i tried having high taxes and nothin. we need somethin here.
The housing management system does need to be improved.
We need a birds eye view of the city that shows us the city boundaries, highlights houses that have declared, civic structures, houses that havent declared etc.
We also need to be able to pre-assign a lot to a player. This lot would then be shown as a waypoint and the player would only be allowed to place their house in that location and rotation would also be locked.
I dont think the mayor should be able to pull up houses and move them around but a solution does need to be sorted out where the rights to a plot can be revoked and then if the player has not remvoved the house withing a given amount of time that house and all its contents are moved to a holding area so that the player can collect them from a bezzar type interface.
Maybe also that plots of land are leasehold where by a small fee has to be paid to the city for the plot of land allocated depending on the size of the house. This lease would last for 1 month. Every month the amount for that lease would be deducted. The city would have the right to cancel the lease and not allow the player to renew. This would then give the player an amount of time to apply for a lease for a new plot before their house moved into the holding arrangement.
SOLUTION
Allow the mayor to toggleONE structure per weekto be destroyed. If the structure is not re-deeded (or the mayor does not untoggle it) the structure will be destroyed in TWO WEEKS.
Devs can you please implement this by next publish? Thank you ![]()
