Well yes and no. It's hard to find a spot for a city with no houses sometimes.

That's part of the challenge in city planning. You can't tell me that there is no place on the planet that has enough open land to not greif other players. Sure you don't get the "best spot in the whole galaxy in your opinion", you just need to find a new "best spot in the whole galaxy in your opinion" so that you don't greif people all for the sake of your own selfishness. Our profession has no room for selfishness.

First , i didnt drop the city around houses,i dropped nearharvesters, harvester farms are not what the devs intended , one reason for resourse shift .as far the city griefing by dropping a city on a house with 2 million in it while the character is afk , is the afk characters fault, the game is for active not inactive players and if hes in the hospital for long periods of time, he/she has more to worry about than the game. second.. if the guy is sever swapping lots, how do i contact the original owner of the harvesters? they are on a different server, hence the term server swap.there are no names on them , they dont give an owner name? so before you tell me to not to moan , i suggest you think things through a bit more befor you post. so , now im at 30 cits after the first week update and placed the max tax on the harvesters, i guess ill just follow the "good" advise that was givin and sit back and collect his donations, the funny thing is , he may never know hes beiing taxed.

That is just sick! Who are you to judge the status of a player's account. He could very well be paying his $15 a month just like you. You came in here and asked if it was wrong. You were told it was greifing. There are other posts that address the issue as well. Go ahead greif all you like. I just hope your 30 citizens realize what a cruel thing you have done and get out of town before you move on to them...

People like you are why us mayor's won't be seeing command's like /citywarn ever again, and tools that allow us to move players out of town. Instead..the CSRs are going to stop trusting us and immediatly assuming we are the greifing in every case and start banning us.

Sick? no ifyou have read the post you would see that eagle made the 2 million credit house reference not me ,my problem is harvesters which are meant to be temp where are cities are permanant fixtures , even if it where a house, a player does have every right to place a house and never return if he/she chooses however a player also has the right to plop a city hall next to it if he/she chooses. When you place your house in the middle of no where , you accept the fact that its possible that a city can come by and plop in your backyard making your house in city limits. its very difficult to find a 450 radius with nothing in it so buyer beware when you place your house. so get off your care bear horse , its not grief its common scence, as for the harvesters in the way, i do believe the devs made property taxes for this such reason , so the mayor can claim his land from inactive houses/structures as said by a csr who answed all my questions re: this matter

When you drop the cityhall, you get a mail stating the owner of said structures in the city limits. Add them to friends, mail them, etc to contact them about their structures. If no responce in a reasonable time, then tax away.

A city has a right to support itself.

its not really a grief, especially when talking about harvesters, which require very little effort to move. Even if it were houses, the game mechanics allow a way around it - rally the offended and vote out the mayor OR move. Just because the solution isn't as quick as the drive through at mcdonalds doesn't mean its not a solution.

This is assuming he did send an email at least 1 week in advanced of placing the city hall..

His having sever swap lots for havesters may be an exploit, but your dropping a city on existing houses that know nothing of your city is a greif.

*if he gives them warning then its not griefing.Nor do i feel bad about griefing an exploiter...*

Think about it. A player 2 months ago....drops 2mil in the house....closes his account till JTL

*closing your account tilJTL and expectingpeople to respect your space is inane, Im still paying my $15 a month...and if your going to leave that long in a game that evolves dont be shocked when things change when you return*

, or till his stay in thehospitol is over...etc. He saw that the Maintence he paid would get him through the time and he would not lose his items.

*again so sorry he sent emails with his intentions, we cant be responsible for his extented stay at the hospital with out having someone added to his admin to make sure it taken care of or name the structure with the person who is going to be responsible for it while your gone.*

....he may even have left his account active..paying the $15 a month to make sure his items didn't get destroyed. Then you come along and drop a city hall and jack prices up (stealing the maintenace he put in his house..yes its stealing, the money is taken from his house and put in your treasury) resulting in his house decaying month early and destroying all his stuff. The poor guy is going to come back and find all his stuff gone and your city hall sitting there. I doubt he'll be thinking"WOW, I'm so glad they were able to find a good place to make that city" I rather imagine he'll be thinking "That stupid mayor destoyed my house and all my stuff by taxing me! I'm out 2Mil and he has it all in his treasury? I hope he at least named a statue or a fountain after me!".

*again left someone responsible...And the good mayor would return a portion of the money..A fair amount..*

You GREIF multiple players by abusing your mayor abilities and steal their money and destroy their stuff and then complain because some guy has a harverster farm in your city? And others suggest greifing him as well and destroying his stuff or taking his money as well? Your government is a perfect example of corruption. Nothing like stealing from your citizens in thename of taxes. Would want to actually be a diplomat about it and work out a solution.

You should have dropped the city somewhere else.

Im sorry but dont place your house in an ideal spot and expect it to stay sucluded forever..

Yes it will work, and yes it is wrong. You could try and be civil about it and...you know...politik your way into getting the harvestors moved.

I found an amazinnew city spot (original didn't have enough buildable land) that was more or less barren and at a perfect place due to an in game POI in the middle of nowhere on Corellia. So it is possible, however let's assume that I didn't and that there were a dozen homes in my radius. Rather then destroy their homes from an outside source ie taxes (which was implemented as a way to help cities be self sufficient as opposed to cause any residence that isn't as active as they can be get destroyed early) I would find out who owned the buildings and continuously try to contact them, all the while working out my city plan since you have a large amount of space to develop. 3 homes out of line here and there isn't the end of it. Hell I"m still waiting for my reurbanizationand city beautificationto be completed because of 6 or 7 homes that are out of place just a bit or in the middle of main street. Rather then being an **edit** and getting them deleted I"m bending over backwards to not have that happen. I'm doing my best to be considerate of the other players and have their homes moved when they can be rather then blow them up and give 'em another when they log on next.

Let me refresh your memory then Ratgut:

Hello,I will be starting a city her in a few days, (by city I mean plopping down a city hall in the middle of a bunch of houses) the problem I have are the old houses that are still there. I have lived in this area for a while and have seen no activity in these houses so... after I am the Mayor, can I jack the taxes as high as I can to drain their maintainace so the house will be destroyed? Does it work like this? Will they dissapear freeeing up the land, ? including the PA halls that are there as wel?.

Your original problem was houses...that's what I said was greifing....justify it all you want...saying a CSR said so means squat...got a screenshot? no? Then don't even bother posting that one said so then. Every CSR is different and for every one you found to agree with you, another would ban your account for a week for doing what you did.
