I'll give Holo the props for at least admitting they screwed up, but I know I for one am not going to back down on arguing to get it put back in as soon as possible.

And yet none of those threads clearly list griefing that can only be stopped by /citywarn. Why is that, do you think?

Actually, several do. You can't /ignore an avatar disrupting a public event or dropping a pet on top of a terminal and telling it to stay so no one can target it, just to give a couple of examples. And it makes no difference if you have to put up with it in NPC cities . . . we're not spending hundreds of thousands of credits on NPC cities here.

You obviously haven't read them all. There are plenty of situations posted for Plinka's review, and I'm sure they've been brought up to the devs. The /ignore and /cityban alternative doesn't hold water, but it will have to do as the current alternative leaves power in the hands of some who would abuse it. There is a reason the removal of /citywarn is "temporary" as TH put it...because it is needed.

I suggest you take a look at the various threads addressing the concerns of mayors who would not abuse this power so that you can understand why there is such resistance to its removal. There are good reasons, they have been listed, and Plinka has acknowledged them.

I don't advocate the removal of /citywarn, but I understand why it is happening, and look forward to the day it is reinstated.

I cannot believe I see someone who says they are a Mayor wanting to have this removed especially by using the /citywarn cant stop griefing argument. You must not have a single visitor in your city. My God man, why not just pass Mayor on to someone else and set yourself up with a nice house someplace? Pardon my outburst but if we cannot unite Mayors on this issue then we are never going to get it fixed or back.

I also ask you what makes you think removing /citywarn will stop the grief? If anything it will increase it in our cities. And as far as static player spots, well heck why not just place a ring of med houses around it? What then, take houses away?

Again and again I say to all especially the developers taking the /warn away will not stop it, you need to concentrate on the source of the problem not the tools uses.

There ARE lots of us that want to get rid of /citywarn. We're just not as vocal about it cause /citywarn IS being gotten rid of.

The only argument I can think of for removing it is that we could be getting a lot more visitors to our city if they knew they weren't going to get /citywarn griefed. We wouldn't do that (at least any militia who did would have his militia powers permanently revoked) but people I think are still afraid that we would.

Oh, and Valadon, I know that your militia does /citywarn neutrals, even if they do it by mistake. I'd think you'd want it gone too with how freely your militia uses it.

You know I read the boards too I have yet to see any petition to remove citywarn go past 40 post, and frankly only saw one of them. And over 75% of the posts in it were arguing to keep it. Yet what we had how many petitions to keep it? 10, 20? How many posted in that 200 300 400? How many argue to remove it? About 10%.

People that want it removed don’t post because there are very low in numbers. In fact most of the people that do post saying they want it removed are trolls they do it because they know it will cause an argument (IMHO).

Yes I agree there are a few that have good reasons they want it gone but there are 1000’s more that want to keep it for equal good reasons. And i think it would be safe to say at least 98% of us (both sides) want it fixed. This is obvious to anyone that has read this area in the last few weeks.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I totally wiped out on this subject. I am still in shock that (in my low end estimate) over 85% of the player base in this game asked to keep it but yet they removed it. Even more shocked they have the audacity to put a fix on the back burner and basically said they will someday get to it. To put that in perspective put off a fix for a “goof” that they freely admitted to doing.

It is quite obvious how they feel about us (public opinion) (this includes the people that want it removed look past the topic and see the numbers 85% ask for it, they say no), and it is probably not the best move for them to do especially with the six-month subscriptions renewal coming up in January.

if people weren't using citywarn against their own valid citizens the command would have never been removed.

You want to balme someone... go after the ones who found an easy exploit and used it for all it was worth... it has nothing to do with the devs... short of saying they put a bigged command in the game... but I don't see anyone attacking them on such grounds... if you want it back so bad... how where you exploiting it?
