Thread: TH says a lot of people are for citywarn getting removed...

Whata joke. I would say the majority of people want it back in, aside from a few people who support TH's stance. Devs take the easy way out again. Instead of leaving it in and then giving us a better version. they are taking it away from us completely and then going to take their time redeveloping it. There were a LARGE number of good temporary and permanent solutions in the petition thread, any one of those would have sufficed. The majority of the community, bar a few people, want the command to stay. Fix the problem, don't destroy the tool.

Well, maybe a lot do want it out. Maybe. But I'll bet 99% of them don't run a city or are in a militia.

And I want it to remain. What's your point?

My point is that there ARE Mayors who want it removed or modified. I'm sure once more of them understoond the abuses occuring with /citywarn even more would want it remove or modified.

For those who want it to stay in I ask this. What griefing does /citywarn prevent that /cityban and /ignore don't prevent? I understand that there are cases where /citywarn is the only way to prevent griefing, but do they outweight the abuses? Let's list the cases where /citywarn is the only option so people have a frame of reference.

The boards don't count the help tickets and /reported players.

> You can't /ignore an avatar disrupting a public event
Sure you can. I do it all of the time.

> dropping a pet on top of a terminal and telling it to stay so no one can target it,
I have yet to encounter a situation where a terminal can be blocked by a non-solid object. Adjusting your view distance and walking into the creature lets you get to the terminal.

> You obviously haven't read them all.

Correct, I have not. I apologize for the incorrect portrayal of the other threads.

> I cannot believe I see someone who says they are a Mayor wanting to have this removed especially by using the /citywarn cant stop griefing argument.

I didn’t say it can’t but you have to admit that it’s often used when /ignore and /cityban would also work. The current situation has players using /citywarn to both restrict access to POIs and to harass political opponents running in the current election. Those issues warrant the removal of the /citywarn command until it can be modified.

> Pardon my outburst but if we cannot unite Mayors on this issue then we are never going to get it fixed or back.

Getting people to unite simply to demand they returned a command that the Devs feel is causing problems isn’t going to do anything. Supporting methods on how to *fix* /citywarn is great

> I also ask you what makes you think removing /citywarn will stop the grief?

I don’t. It will stop some and permit other types to happen. The reason it needs to be removed is because the types of griefing that /citywarn is being used for is widely supported by the player base. Yes, read the prior sentence again.

i think for every 50 people who wanted it to stay there was maybe 2 who wanted it to go.

Somebody go back through that thread and do a count on pro's and con's so we can get a better picture.

The majority of the forum whiners want it back, right. That doesn't mean the majority ingame.

Actually, I've yet to meet anyone in game who doesn't want it back and the cities removed from the POI's yet either.

I would like you to show me the HUGE ingame poll they conducted then to come up with the numbers to support them.

Seems to me the only people who are being heard are here on the boards in regards to this argument.

Of course, we got this all through beta as well. testers-"hey holo... theres a major bug/issue/exploit/inbalance that needs to be fixed or tweaked" holo- "our internal testers just dont see it that way. sorry"

Whats funny here is.... they even said that its ok for a city to expand over a poi (hell its even in plinka's post about city faq). They LET IT HAPPEN and now want to do something about it after a few people decided to ABUSE IT. While they were perfectly willing to let this into game, players were already coming up with a worse case scenerio and yet nothing was done about it.

You cant honestly say they didnt know this was going to happen or even that its ok to destroy any form of the militia. I mean what the hell is a militia that cant protect its lands? What good is a militia that can only grant zoning rights and ban people if they break the rules in front of them? The militia was advertised with certian functions and damnit, i want those functions. I dont want the dev team to go....oops... we got hit with the "We dont play the game we just code it , so now we have to nerf it to the extreme" syndrome.

And then turn around and say... well its coming out and well... we feel like other things are far more important so we will put this on a backburner for some other systems and probably wont ever get back to this.
