i am a politician, but am actually in favor of scrapping player cities and getting people moved into npc ones.
we could then go up for mayoral elections in the npc cities, this will make elections abit more interesting and youd actually have to go out and campaign for votes. currently the majority of player cities are simply "owned" by the mayor with little to no competition, just a guild running things behind the scenes
removing player cities would also boost traffic in npc towns (the first things new players see) and also i think make the game more "star warsy"
currently it feels like alot of the planets are just one big town, with buildings lying all over the place and very little fields anymore. i remember back in beta and early into live where i could go out and their were fields!
perhaps not be so harsh as to remove all player cities, just maybe lower the cap (lol dont shoot me) so their would be a few shuttleports dotted around the planet for people to travel around abit easier and then bring back emphasis on the npc cities where EVERYONE can play a bigger part

You DO actually visit places like Theed and Coronet right?? If we were all forced to live in NP Cities, the lag would cause the game to be unplayable.. As it is a person needs at least a gig of ram in their comp and even with that it still chugs like hell..

The funny/frustrating thing about this was that it actually appeared in one of those "Coming Soon" type thingys that appeared on the main part of the site. One of those rough timeline things. It was pretty vague, but only scheduled for like one publish down the road at the time, so it seemed like they had some ideas how it would work. Then, mysteriously, all mention of it vanished. Never to be seen again.
I'll see if I can dig up that post...
