The city I live in (Desert City, Lok, Corbantis) is currently paid for almost entirely by our mayor/guild leader. I'm hoping to take the city over from him (muhahaha) but I'm scared to think about how I'm going to pay for it. I don't make much money as a Tailor and Architect that only does furniture lol.

Greetings LadyP...

Our city NEVER instituted taxes. We funded our treasury thru 3 methods:

1. Voluntary donations;

2. I set up a vendor in City Hall and the citizens donated items to be sold there. Some of the items were crafted...some looted. 100% of proceeds from these sales went into the city treasury;

3. We also instituted 2 group hunts where all items recovered were placed for sale ion the City vendor.

At our high point, we had over 14 million in the treasury. At the time we took our city down, we had over 7 million.

Hope this helps.

We have a 10% property tax and the rest is made up by donations and the occasional city solo group hunt. Now that they have nerfed solo groups I plan to do a hunt for high-OQ doctor supplies (avain or herb meat) and sell it to profit the city. The donate-items vendor is a pretty cool idea tho... I may have to steal it

Donations has been the way we have fund our Commune. Donations is either by credits into the city treasury or items donated that we auction off or sell on one of our Loot vendors.

Well My city get incame from Sales tex and donations, when i toke the mayer office we had 2.5mil and it was fix as the city income equal the maintance on weekly bases but then some of our wealthy merchants help by donating 7mil and 2mil.

But do to the missions reward system the sales drop badly currently the city got 9mil and i'm trying to keep it at that.

Our city is funded by:

-Sales Tax

-Property Tax

-Income Tax

I also run City Maintenance hunts. We group up, everyone takes 2 5k or better missions and we run around and do them. Being the slightly evil fella I am I have rules for these hunts.

-No Doc Buffs above a Enhance B

-Food Buffs allowed

-No Vehicles

-Scouts and their camps welcome

-Pets and Droids Welcome

So with even a moderate turn out of say 6-10 guildies were looking at at the very least 60k-100k, most of the vets contribute more. These hunts are an incredible amount of fun. Noobs and vets run together, folk get trained, people slow down from the "grind" and take some time to actually play with fellow citizens/PA members. The greater the size of the group the better the missions so 10k missions arent terribly unheard of even on Tatooine.

Theres a method to my madness, there are good reasons for this type of activity.

1. Strengthens PA by getting folks to do things together

2. Strengthens members commitment to the City and PA

3. Enhances everyones play time

4. Exposes newer people to group tactics ...something that was fairly rare until recently

5. Gets people accustomed to lower output combat...(Im thinking about CU here where Doc Buffs and Armor will be adjusted).

6. Its a heck of a lot of fun.

Im not the Mayor just an officer in our PA, but I think the city has worth and I do anything I can to reinforce its worth to the PA and Citizens, I also go to great lengths to make our members feel like they are apart of something thats going forward.

One thing Id like to see is the removal of our Sales tax, but Im slowly working on the Mayor in that respect hehe.

There ya have it.

I am quite lucky in my city, a few citizens donated lots to the treasurey, about 12 million now, and with the new taxes 2000 citizens tax, 5% property tax and 200 credits per ticket to the city from the shuttle, the city is about breaking even with the city maintanence at around 660k.

New mayors in both Skystone and Tombstone on Tatooine last week on test center, lots of the old school people are taking breaks or leaving the game for the new games it seems

But there are plenty of new people who are interested in the game and each new person is a new chance to make a friend. We have a 20% property tax and the 100cr shuttle tax but even with 105 citizens i still have to add more than 300K+ a week to maintain the city alone.

G'na

Mayor of Skystone on TC-Prime

Because the city tax system is broken. I sold 8 million last week on my vendor, city charges 10%sales tax, so just from me alone city hall should have gotten 800k. Each citizen pays 2000 plus 10% maintenance at 58 we should have been over a million without what all the other vendors sold. At the end of the day city hall only had 430k. This problem have been ongoing since the begining of cities and the devs completely ignored it. I have no doubt its an easy fix but I am starting to thinkthey simply dont care. I have to fork out the diffrence every week.

Our city on Kettemoor, Talus gets funds both from generous donations from our citizens & selling uber loot on the trade forum (this by far is the easiest way, items would be NS loot, Krayt loot, high attachments found).

We haven't done any recently but we usually got a guild/city event together (preannounced that all loot to be sold for city) & go have fun together hunting. By doing so we are able to have a great city with gardens, statues, & NO Income tax!!!
