Ok, I asked this on my servers forums and got some answers, but thought I would check with all of you, the experts... I am not the mayor of my city, but I know often she is stating city funds are low...

what do you find is the best way to fund your city? I know donations, but what about those players that simply don't see it as their problem as I don't think they realize the cost that actually goes into maintaining the city...

and... does anyone else think it costs too much to maintain?

I pay the whole amount myself, money is very easy to get in the game, 529K a week is no problem to have a city decorated like you want it

yikes O.o wait... ooh, you became the mayor of skystone? see how little I step out of my city? /bonk self

mine's mostly by donation, especially after sales tax went bonkers. I would still prefer if the city can finance itself, but it's currently not happening

and whoops, forgot to mention the second part...

smaller cities costs a lot less. since city growth benefits the citizens, they should help out if the treasury is in trouble. in that sense I don't think cities cost too much it will also be a TON better after they fix sales tax, but I have no clue when they will

Yep you need to get out more

New mayors in both Skystone and Tombstone on Tatooine last week on test center, lots of the old school people are taking breaks or leaving the game for the new games it seems

But there are plenty of new people who are interested in the game and each new person is a new chance to make a friend. We have a 20% property tax and the 100cr shuttle tax but even with 105 citizens i still have to add more than 300K+ a week to maintain the city alone.

Most funds of the city come from donations. Initially I paid for the city alone, then i partly took some taxes on. After having established as Metropolis and adding decorations as well, those who earn much money in my city usually donate nice amounts between 1 and 5 mio. Also, Recently some residents decided to leave the game and gave all their belongings to me to support the city. I am curently trying to build up a crafter ring that can take resources from a city warehouse to craft their products (old and rare, very high quality resources). The sales are split 50/50 between crafter and the city. I take 10 % of the city part for my work as salary.

Haven Island is funded by resources sales. Citizens donate lots which we place a medium harvest on. The harvesters are maintained by the Militia and the resources dropped in the Militia house. The Mayor then adds these resources to a vendor at a standard price, 2.5 CPU + 0.5 CPU per stat over 900.

Since the addition of JTL we have a hard time keeping the vendor stocked even with the proceeds from nearly 10 harvesters. As for time it takes about 30 mins per week to keep this operation running. The harvesters are all located together and never move. Sometime we get lucky and a 90% + spawns underneath us sometimes we don't.

This meets our city maintance of 750,000 credits and leaves plentyof money behind to buy powerand provide maintance to the Harvesters.

me and a couple afluent members of my city keep the treasurey filled although I find myself doing most of the paying, but I don't mind when the city costs about 390k a week and I make half that on one suit of armor.

hmmm armor is only 200K on your server for a suit? ok I realize stats come into play etc... but interesting...

Our mayor doesn't have any real crafting skill to front the cost and well I don't think she should have to... but I am getting some great input really and I appreciate it all

Thanks Heaps

well my standard armor sells for 210k a full suit (Player vs Enviroment 80 kin 80 elec 68 base) which is a bit under market value, but I don't mind, I already got probably ten times more money then the average player. But much less then the average power gamer, hehe.

Taxes, we do no donations. We want no ego's getting involved in the city management

We have Property tax 10, Income 1500, Garage 5%, travel 100, sales tax 4%

Since sales tax is actually going to the meerchants account we have been running on the honor system with the merchants donating the money that was to go to the city back into the city.

This has been working fairly well in fact once it is fixed I should be able to lower taxes, but since not 100% of the merchants appear to be ding this I cannot yet

I believe my maintenence is around 622k per week

We have a Metro with 187 citizens and 330 structures

We found our city by donations and by selling space loot. Our citizens offer the loot to the vendors for 1cr and well sell m for 1k per level. All money is put in the threasury. We got no need for taxes this way. Also we do Corvette runs to get the powerplant and sell it for the town.
