My impression is that it is a combination of the current system of bank account/condemn and getting rid of cancelled account structures. I'll need to get more clarification on it, though, since everything I'm saying here is strictly from the answer to the question posed in the panel.

Technically they are two separate issues. A player's account can still be active, but their character on a particular server may not be (leaving dead structures behind). At the same time a cancelled account can have tons of "healthy" structures and will for many months to come under the new system.

The character purge is for the cancelled accounts. If the account has been gone for 6 months, structures tied to that account will be pulled up by the system and put in the character's bank account. The purge in and of itself isn't designed for condemned structures, at least that's how I interpreted it.

They *are* going to be looking at a resolution for the condemned issue. As players, too, they seemed very concerned with the number of condemned harvesters and other structures littering the landscape. It may be that they wait until the purge goes through to evaluate it, or it may be that they put a separate system in place for dealing with it. I'll need to get more updates on it before giving you anything concrete.

I think having it work the same way as the purge would be ideal. As long as the coding's in to be able to roll up the structures, at least. If they want people to still have to pay off the decay on harvester deeds, make it cost an extra 5k/50k/100k the first time they reuse the deeds.

If I remember right, a big reason for letting the houses live forever was people losing all the items within, but with the new roll up system, that's no longe ran issue, so there's no reason to let structures remain sitting forever, drawing off of large bank accounts or just being condemned eyesores.

Perhaps it's time to cap the amount of maintenance you can put into a structure at 2 or 3 months. That way the only way that a structure can remain "healthy" after cancellation is if someone else is using and maintaining it--very helpful for malls, PAs, storage houses, etc. When maintenance runs out, there could be a short time period where admins (not just owners) could make it healthy again, and if not, it rolls up.

Question:

Obviously, it looks like they (Devs) are looking into the condemned building issue. As linked above, they are looking to packing up the buildings and belongings and stuffing them in the players bank account.

But why 6 months? It's not like they're deleting anything? The player will still have all of their stuff if they come back. Why not make it 3 months to quicken it up a bit. Like I stop playing today, 3 months later my stuff is packed up, 3 months after that, it's all deleted.
