What can be done in the near future to (at least) slightly empower Mayors to enforce the laws of their respective cities?

I recently became Mayor and here are a few questions i would like to see get fixed or enhanced.

First the ones i have seen here and would like to agree with and see fixed:

  1. Old and stagnent buildings. got to b removable, I think prehaps the mayor should get the right to re-deed any structure with ALL its contents (not take any of the contents) and have a 24 hour period to re-place the structure elsewhere so at least they could be moved. but for players that have quit. a destroy feature is needed.

  2. City Chat - like guildchat, i would love to see a way to communicate with the whole city residency population

  3. Mayor tag. yes. i think it would be nice and prompt alot of people into askin about our town's

  4. Mayorship retiring - needs to be available. that a mayor can amrk them self as retiring and then ANYONE that opts to run for mayorship will automatically win on the next week cycle, if there are multiple runners. the one with the most votes besides mayor should win. and.. for a mayor who has quit the game. after 4 weeks of non-play... their mayorship automatically rolls to a retiring status. opening the door for a new incumbant.

Now for items i would like to see fixed and or enhanced:

  1. When someone donates to the treasury, i would like to get a email letting me know who did and how much. I had a prosperous city member donate 1 mil, and i had to ask around who made the donation. this is sad.

  2. I think building structures like a cantina, theater, medical center.. should be City structures. placeable only by a resident Master Doc (for the medical center) but when he places it it should then go against the City lots, and also the ownership should revert to the mayor. the mayor could PULL the structure but could not re-place the structure. only a master Doc could. a Resident Master Doc. this would be the same for the cantina and theater.

  3. Taxation - exemptions. In my case i want to enable a tax but i have a individual that donated 1 mil credits. i think i should be allowed to exempt good city donators from taxes. a bennefit for them careing enough to donate as much as they do

  4. Politician should be a TIER 2 profession not a level 1 profession. i think its bunk that as tier 1 it takes 15 skill points to get novice pol, and then the ONLY way to get XP in it is to run for mayor. Any brand new SWG player who picks up niovie pol within the first week of play is not going to get any votes to any city mayorshipo because they dont know anyone. they are not capable of placing a city hall and truly getting the 10 residents unless they are being backed by a large group. but then. why should the Newbie be able to do this? if he is being backed make the backing party be the ones to drop this city hall.

well. there are a few of my 2 cents.

Can we get the register on Map and Hospital attached to Rank 2 instead of Rank 3?

I just started a new city and had no idea, since last time i went through those skills was way back in the begining, but i wanted both those items and didnt really want 35 people in my town, but i busted my butt and got 35, but be nice if you could register at rank 1, so people know where citys are.

oh boy...

well, this will teach me to put down a few guidelines for posting next time please stick to the following guidelines:
  • one question per person
  • please don't post anything that's covered by our GCW requests
  • actually, please don't post "requests", period... 19 questions is really a place for us to ask about how things work, if certain things are coming in our future, etc... "we want (insert requested item here)" isn't really a question also, you guys should know by now that we're not getting anything huge until after JTL, so while a question like "will we be getting city chat along with the extra chat channels mentioned in the accidentally-posted document" or "will we be getting city quests any time soon since they were taken out of the publish" should be ok, "will we be getting starports" is probably not gonna get us a happy response.
to get the most outta our question, please work together and gimme a question I can squeeze info from

--Master Politician (sigh) Give me a freaking bone here eh? There should be SOME thing....maybe:

1) Let MP place Imperial and Rebel Recruiters

2) Let MP have the ability to "see" the terrain (like when you are placing a house---that overhead shot) to determine where a small house, medium house, garage etc. garden etc. would fit, wihtout actually having a deed. This would help with city planning. (just put a "multiple choice" simulated deed in the Mayor's inventory....he clicks the deed, chooses the structure, and scopes out the terrain....just to look mind you, the deed won't actually place anything).

3) Let MP place a Spynet Operative

4) Have reduced maintenance costs if your mayor is, right now, at this moment, a Master Pollitician.

5) Let MP "shift" structures to close up gaps.

6) Let MP rotate structures if devs can figure out how to solve the bugs that exist in rotating structures

7) ooooh this is a mean, nasty, sneaky idea............Require the mayor to be a Master Politician, or else your shuttleport goes bye bye!!!! heh heh, maybe my city will get a shuttleport someday.....

--And if the Mayor drops down from Master, all the above goodies go "poof"......to keep folks from being MP for a day, getting the goodies, then getting the skill points back by dropping MP. In fact....

8) If a mayor places a structure, or declares his city some kind of specialty city, then later drops his points below those required for the initial placing, then

a) the cost of that city structure maintenance increases dramatically

b) the structure deteriorates and eventually decays

What about the option for the lower rank cities to place larger structures in them.

the result would be that the outpost or township will never grow due to availbe space, but it can still have the nice astetic looks of larger gardens, buildings, ect ect.

My question is pretty simple and I'm almost certain I know the answer but there seems to be conflicting answers floating around:

Some time back there was a 6 week inactivity timer put into place. That time removed citizens from the city if they hadn't been logged in for 6 weeks. Shortly after that the code was removed. There has been no further information about it. Is the inactivity code still disabled? If so are there any plans to bring it back in any form?

When will we get a city chat channel??????

That is the biggest complaint from my citizens atm and while I dont mind doing it, its still a pain to get up everymorning and create a channel for us and invite everyone of our 57 citizens...it would save a lot of extra steps and confusion for the new players if city chat was a standard thing like guild chat

  • Will we ever get the good old /citywarn command back? it's annoying only having the ability to "ban" people ...

  • Will politicians ever be able to hire an NPC militia ? they'd do things like heal friendlieswithin the city, attack people on /citywarn and inforce the laws.

  • Will politicians ever be able to add proper brick/cobbel roads to their towns? it'd give it more the feeling of a real city and not just houses plonked on the grass.

Inactive mayors and mayors wishing to retire wouldnt be so hard to get rid of *IF* the inactive citizen code was re-implemented correctly. (Meaning loss of citizenship implies your vote *absolutely* no longer auto-counts for the incumbent mayor.) So I guess my question is:

When and how will the inactive citizen code be re-implemented and could it possibly be enhanced to remove vendors and structures for accounts that have been cancelled for longer than 4 weeks to address the growing problems with "ghost towns?"

hi Jv

it looks like most people want a "mayor resignation" question. anyone have any suggestions on how I should put it?
