Nothing more I can report yet other than it's being looked into, but we should know something more Soon (TM) I would think.

On September 9th, 2005 all structure maintenance was turned off indefinitely due to Hurricane Katrina. We are now disabling thecity maintenance fees to ease the burdon.
When we are ready to resume these maintenancesa post will be made at least a week in advance to prepare everyone.
Thank you Dev Team for listening to the Mayors.

Now what about stockrooms on vendors deleting stuff after 30 days? If the goal is to help out people that were impacted by the storm(s), then having their vendors delete their items after 30 days will severly impact their game play. Thoughts?

Yes.
I was at work or I would have copied the announcement here myself.
Thanks, Thunderheart, for looking into this for us and making it happen! It's really going to help out!

Thats not the issue. Any self respecting merchant doesnt let things pile up in the stockroom. The issue is that the description of stats keep going blank when new patches come out.
My suggestion. fix it
The 30day limit is meant to prevent vendors from being used as storage. Does 99999999 mean anything to you?

While it may be kind and generous and all that rot to those who have suffered the ill effects, as opposed to the good ones of course, of the recent storms turning off maintenence for everyone is a horrible idea. Maintenence is one of the few methods to remove credits from the economy.

Azaraphel1, you are correc that maintenance, whether for buildings or cities, is an integral part of this community. I feel that it adds the level of banality to this game which many many online games lack. It is crucial to have money-sinks, like cities, in games where people are generating massive amounts of wealth. What concerned me was that they had turned off maintenance for the buildings, but forgot that cities used the building maintenance feature to asses property taxes which in turn helped pay for our communities. That they have turned off the city maintenance function is a fantastic help to those of us paying huge weekly bills to run our communities.
I look forward to their turning the maintenance back on for all structures in this game. It is important to the economy of this game, on many levels.
Sincerely,
Hadrian
