Thread: Politicians and Player Cities: Ideas for involvement in factions
Qabalah,
Relax. Try to breathe.
Now, it's important to understand that Dev attention is a scarce resource. Is that ideal? No. However, it is reality. Given that it is reality, it is important to adapt to it. Simply castigating the correspondent/community relations/developers is never going to fix that problem. It's perfectly OK to blow off a little steam now and then - and no doubt this is what's going on - but even if you can't be positive about it (and one confesses, its hard to find positives in some of this) you should at least strive to treat it as a disappointing fact rather than as a failure of particular individuals or small groups.
The extremely slow response time from the community relations area is not unique to this profession. It's not even unique to this game. Frustrating though it may be, it is clear that between the development cycle and personnel stretched too thin that only game-breakingissues can be treated with priority. What we can hope for is to raise enough attention (by repeated requests for the same thing) with the people who really matter so that they fix the problem just so they don't have to deal with us anymore. ![]()

1) "Background Check" (somewhere in the Faction tree) Maybe as a city specialization called "Intelligence Network"?
- Militia run a 'Background Check' on a person to discern their faction??
- Player gets informed that a 'background check' is being run on them and their faction will be exposed in 2-3 minutes unless they leave town.
- Smugglers get avoidance check?
- Not necessarily turned overt but maybe TEF'd?
2) Faction Recruiter? Place an Imperial Draft Office or Rebel Informant in the back of the Cantina?
3) Stronghold Specializationgive bonus to overt members of a specific faction? (so you don't have to put everyone in militia)
I like these ideas a lot!

Fantastic initiative, Baz!
I like the ideas already here, so I'm not goingto add anything other my voice of support - keep up the good work and just ignore the Trolls - we have to do this as well as working with them to get our top five issues addressed. ![]()
Yours,
- NPCs of the appropriate faction should spawn and wander the cities.
- Logistical Office/Officer/Vendor. This would be a building/npc/vendor with whom we could sell equipment for faction points. The faction points would then be collected in a pool that the Mayor could use to purchase faction perks, for its citizens and City. The equipment would be supplied by the players. Lets us set our own faction perks!
- Banners
- Wandering NPCs. The GCW is alive and well in the player cities that allow "easy low risk" farming. Create more reasons for the enemy to attack a Player City by farming its militias.
- I recommend you ask the GCW Correspondent as well. I'm sure he has ideas he's wanted to see come to fruition.
Thanks for asking us, btw. ![]()
Number two request: Faction Recruiter.
My request: Faction Recruiter.

Hang on, we get told by Bajeezus that the Devs time is sparse at best, and that they are concentrating on other things, and then we get asked to forward suggestions about involving factions in Player Cities! So what is it to be? They are too busy to fix all the problems and issues that quite a few of us having been asking about since PC was released - but they have time to consider additional content?
I'm all for additional content involving player cities, but all some of us are asking is to fix the broken stuff first, and then we can get onto the fun stuff. Its happened with every other profession, why should Politican be any different?
And to Bajeezus, the reason that declaring a city part of faction just missed the top 5, is that the Top 5 was deemed to be more important!!! So are weditching the Top 5 and going with 6 and downwards - because hey, what's moreimportant to SOE,fixing problems and addressing issues or adding "fun stuff"?

Or we are brainstorming ideas during a lull in the forum so as to provide ideas of new content the second it is asked for. You could call it busywork for us to get the ideas teeming in here (remember during and after the top 5 initiated? I couldn't refresh fast enough to keep up with you all) as well as just telling them some interesting things that we want. The space expansion is going to have to have some things so the developers dedicated to that could add this as part of the expansion over a large patch. So now they know what we want. It could just be a reference link lining a page somewhere in the offices. It could just be a way for Baj to pull our strings and make us dance a jig so he can sit back and laugh at us. No matter which it is why dump on a good thing?
Why question why we are asked to actually think and exchange ideas once more when we can finally have an article of interest on the page. All I see now are noob questions and complaints, and that's it. Well if I wanted that I could just spend more time on the Rifleman boards and aid in beating back the nerfherders with a stick.
this one is a bit empty but perhaps its something that could be expanded upon
In order to get into new dungeons that will be a part of the mini publishes a player must getaccess granted to them from a politican via a craftable political decree.
