When I first started the game in Late November, I had no Idea what I was doing. I asked someone for help, and after they showed me some ropes, he invited me to join his City/Guild. I did and this made every time I played the game ablast, I always had at least 10 friends who were on. Later, some stuff happened (Read this post: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Politician&message.id=21818) and most of the people I knew at the beginning, including the mayor, started leaving. This angered me, that these people would have no loyalty to city and its other residents. So when the Mayor said that he was looking for a volunteer to take over the mayorhood (5 bucks says I just made up a word), I volunteered, I wanted to bring the city back to how it was, and how all cities should be, since then I have enjoyed my time in office and have been trying to have the same effect on people that the city once had on me.

I am a bit surprised to see so many people acting as a mayor b/c either their guild appointed them to the task, or b/c no one else would do it.
I enjoy the social aspects of the job. I find myself writing several city-wide e-mails a week, keeping everyone up to speed with what is going on in town. I enjoying answering /tells, responding to e-mails, and talking to any person that comes upon my town.
My town is unguilded, although my guild makes up about one-third of the population. It is a Rank 4 city now, and it has been up since the second week of November. I still find the job to be a blast.
I guess I'm just a social kind of person. My characters is a Politician/Dancer/Entertainer, so I have no crafting or combat skills at all!

I was the guy who had the money to get the city started and had the skill points to invest in the politician tree. That's about it. Now that I've been at it for a few weeks, I do enjoy it. I don't have enough skill pts to get master, but enough to get the city going, and if someday down the road on of my guildie's want to take up the politician role, then hey... 50 skill pts are back my way.
We have a unigue way. We have myself as the Mayor, and that's about all I do. I seem to be the guy with the connections all over the server. We have the city planner guy who does the house placing to make it look a tad orgainized, and then we have out Master Dancer, do all the decorating for everything.

I just love wasting skill points... That was the big draw for me. I mean, I dont need them anywhere else, so why not just blow them on a non-productive profession. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside everytime I have to surrender a skill from a productive class to give to this "Sweet" skill point bottomless pit. What else could anyone want. Oh yea.. I also did it for the melons, lots of melons.

it sounded interesting at the start and no one else in my group was interested. It has it's ups and downs. the ups were the establishment of the city and growing to various target points. Most (not all) of those are done now. Most of my skills are now useless at this point. I'm sacrificing points from professions i really get a kick out of now for more one-shot skills that that have no value to me or the city (so i can reach master then drop it). Once i hit master, i'll look for someone else who'd like a shot at being mayor. Roleplay only takes you so far without tools. and the bugs really detract from the profession.

I chose to be mayor because I really enjoy following politics in real life. (congratulations for a second time, John Kerry)
Like everyone else, I am understandably annoyed at the way the politican class is set up, but I do enjoy the social aspects of it. I get a kick out of newbies who call me "Sir," or, "Mayor Eagon." I like sending out the occasional citywide email, and I like to help people out. I like to network with the other mayors on my server andI like the politican community.
I don't mind solving the occasional land dispute, at least until it goes too far. (**edit** you, TCB) I like how the other players come up with things for us to do, like officiate weddings and whatnot.
