Ham-jo, would you rather at this point in time that the devs concentrated on the two enormous projects they have set themselves? Or the smaller problems that we as a smaller part of the community face. Now i'm not saying that politician is to be pushed aside, far from it, it's the reason i've been playing this game so long. But somthing like the sales tax is so miniscule (sp?) compared to what the devs are doing to the game in this small timeframe they've been set. It's not somthing i'm happy with, but it's somthing that i'm willing to accept.

ITs not that i would rather the DEVS to concentrate on something other that at hand. I WANT the DEVS to concentrate on something like the politician profession. Sales Tax is virtually game breaking for our profession. I have to pay every single week for our city because sales taxes do not work. I do ask for donations from the citizens, but do not always get it. This is very annoying and has been broken since at least patch 9.

The CU is a piece of crap, and at least 75% of the people on a dail basis agree. So yeah, their time is being wasted. I agree when you kinda say this isnt Pappi's fault. None of us can see what she does or does not do behind the doors we cannot open. But being that we have gotten NO love......well thats all i need to say.

ITs great that we got not having to use our skills points for the profession, but i would have rather had the city taxes fixed instead.

I apologize....but im not exaggerating. Im active on almost all the boards i ahve professions on with 4 different chars. And this is the only one that i remotely have a problem with.

It wont matter after the CU anyway.......you think we have ghost towns now......we are gonna have a ghost game.

Well I read a number of other boards and not every correspondent responds every single day, so yes, you are exaggerating. Since Pappi's tenure will be ending, why don't you go for the slot.

Im sure we do not read same forums, so you still saying im exaggerating needs to stop. I talk to some of my correspodents sometimes on a daily basis. You insinuating that you know where i am, and who im talking to is unbecoming...and you really should stop.

Im not gonna respond to you anymore, as its just goingto go around in circles. I do not need someone telling me that i dont do what i do do everyday.

As for me going for the Politician posistion........I would, but i feel there are at least two people that would be perfect for it here. Im not one of them. As im very vocal on how I feel about things, it makes people uncomfortable. Take this thread for instance.....I voiced my opinion on how i thought things were going......and it made people uncomfortable. As i would like the spot, i feel that im too vocal on how i think things should go. The way that I think that the politicians absolutely need more attention than they are getting would be very bothersome to the DEVS.

But maybe that would be a good thing for us. Who knows.

Just a real tiny correction here... .

You can't say we have gotten NO love recently. Three things that come to mind off the top of my head that have effected Politicians/Cities in recent months:

1.) Expanded city structures viewing distance. (More a cosmetic thing, and probably not something we ever asked for, but I LOVE how our city looks now from the hill overlooking it. It's a wonderful sight. )

2.) Modified the way Mayoral elections work. We asked for this for months, to deal with Mayors who have gone AWOL and not being able to get enough active citizens to change their default votes for the incumbent. Pretty nice change that made a lot of people happy. I'd say this was some love.

3.) No skillpoints needed for the Politician skills. Another thing that made people generally happy, and something we've been asking for for awhile. The initial response was "No, we can't have skills with no cost, sorry." However, with JTL, Pilot skills trees now had no skill cost associated with them. The issue was brought up again, the Devs listened, and POOF! I now have a bunch more skillpoints to mess around with that won't cause me to neglect any Political duties! I'd say this was some love.

Are these huge changes? Have they helped tap the incredible potential for Player Cities? Has the broken Sales Tax been fixed yet? Well, no... And those things suck... But just thought it was worth bringing up that we have seen a few changes relatively recently, and I'm sure we can thank Pappi for having some part in getting those done.

Its a shame that we dont have a coorespondent that wont answer questions on this forum.

There is a number of people asking for help that is answered by the politician community, that Pappi doesnt even touch on. The community should do this, and its fantastic that we do......but shouldnt the coorespondent talk with us more?

Making a City Issue thread every week doesnt make you a coorespondent. She spends more time in other forums that she does here. Her post history shows it. She hasnt even posted here in 4 days. Im not trying to be ignorant......but there doesnt seem to be any involvement from her at all. NO issues have been fixed at all. Sales tax has been broken since pub 9. THats over a YEAR ago.

Maybe im just bitter......but it seems we as a politician community talk and do more for each other than she does. SHe spends more time in the tailor forums than here. Shoudnt she at least answer questions here for people that ask them? Shoudlnt she do what other coorespondents do and say this is what im doing so often?

Im just getting tired of this profession being ignored.

Your opinion was that Pappi does not work hard enough for the community and made this assessment two ways: The developers don't deal with us (although they have given us some good new things) and you somehow attribute this to Papps which makes no sense to me. The second being that she doesn't post here nearly enough to answer all the questions posed on the boards (which is primarilly what the threads here are)

You claim that she is so lax in her role that we, the community, are forced to pick up where she slacks off in regards to postings. However no one person can be here every waking hour to answer questions but as a whole, we the community are. European and Asian players fill in the spots that most Americans are sleeping in and we reciprocate this. We answer the questions we know and help each other out when we can. Not because Pappi is so horrible that she won't grace the thread, but because we enjoy helping people out and providing assistance.

I do post in threads thatneedresponses. I feel proud knowing I helped someone further their gameplay.I don't post in those because the question was already answered so what would be the point. Does this make me a horrible mayor because I am not helping people who where already helped by others? Then why does it make Pappi a bad correspondent?

This is one other thing that 'upsets people' with your style of posting. This right here is a slanderous insinuation with no basis. You are basically saying that Pappi is silent over our issues, or at least not nearly vocal enough about them. There is no way to know how vocal she is aside from other Corr mentions, which all of them commend her for her participation on the forums, and development giving us what we need.Well being vocal does not new code make.

Bums on the streetcorner shout about the end oftimes, crazy pundits demand changes in government, a few of my friends constantly offer me boozahol at the bar. Because they are all vocal does this mean that asteroids will rain from the heavens, stem cell research will be legalized, and I'm going to get sh*tfaced tomorrow? Likely not.

PS Sorry for typing so much; but when you speak ill of our correspondent who, in my eyes, is doing more than an excellent job I get a tad bit upset. Especially when your words are not firmly grounded in logic or observations but insinuations and assumptions.

Have you even read (and understood)what everyone, even Pappi herself, have written here in this thread?

Initially we got a bit upset because of what you said in your second post in this thread. You implied that Pappi is a lazy, good-for-nothing correspondent. The way you acted was in a "Shoot first, ask questions later"-fashion, or so it seemed to us. We didn't thinkthat was very nice.

She doesn't have to be present on the board to answer personally every question like "Any word on Salestax changes?" (your own question in this thread's title). Especially because this is only the tenth time it has been asked in the last two weeks or so. The answer to that questioncan be found in only slightly lesser recent posts (use the search). And the rest of us can tell you too.

The reason your particular frequently asked question didn't get answered by the Correspondentis because it is a frequently asked question. Try posting frequently answered questions in other boards, see what it's Correspondent has to say about it, if he/she answers it at all. And see what the other posters tell you as well about doing so without searching first.

The Profession Correspondent is not the personal information database for all visitiors toa particular Profession board. That's what the boards are for, the very reason they exist. The Correspondents just serve as an interface between us and the Dev's and vice versa.

The fact that other Correspondents do it differently than Pappi, doesn't mean that ours should do like them as well. She has told you why in this very thread.

As for being "vocal", it's alright to speak your mind. But not the way you did, you started throwing mud at our Correspondent without knowing all the facts. We didn't like that. You could have simply asked why Pappi isn't doing what you think she should be doing, in a polite manner.

Let's try to get this back on topic....

Is there anything that we can do to be proactive about this issue? Do the devs need more information about what's going wrong?Do they know specifically what's wrong andit'sa matter of not having the time to go in and change the code?

They borked up the merchant end with Publish 14.1 when they were messing with the code on TC (before they took out remote purchasing) so now the problem is compounded. Not only does it not go to the City Treasury, it doesn't even get added into the Merchant listing (I tested that one myself once the GWVS went live). The system acts like there isn't even a sales tax in effect now.

What can we do to help the devs isolate this problem and fix it?

without breaking the (corr) NDA: it broke after they made some changes to the market system at publish 9. the direct cause is unknown, but this is likely what happened.

I'm not sure how complex it is, but it doesn't seem to be an easy fix. a few CSRs and QAs tried to help pin down the problem, and GreenMarine did try to investigate a few months ago, but that kinda just... well, died... I assume he got pulled to something "more important". I'm not even sure why the heck it got more broken with publish 14.1.

my suggestion: /bug it. a lot. ask anyone you know who's affected by this bug to /bug it every time it affects them, maybe a few times a week. this bug actual affects a LOT of people, folks just aren't as aware of it as, say, combat stuff. I don't know how much that'll help, but it probably wouldn't hurt. unfortunately, I don't think much would work if my months of starting my own (and hijacking other people's) thread hasn't

The main problem with relying on /bug reports is that most people don't have it active in their cities beause it doesn't work. Should we /bug it even though we don't have it active? I'm more than willing to do so, but I don't really send in /bug reports unless I come in contact with the bug again. Without the time and place I didn't really think they did much good.

Switching sales tax on and off all the time to make sure it still isn't working (which I doubt would change without a patch note about it) really doesn't accomplish anything beyond spamming all the citizen's mailboxes with "Sales Tax Changed" e-mails. I'd be more than happy to do it if there was something specific I was looking for, though.
