Thread: Any word on Sales Tax changes?
as I've said this before... my job is to relate the community concerns to the devs on another forum, which I have been doing. I am not, and can't be responsible for the lack of dev attention because their priorities are elsewhere. I read every post on the politician forum, and I don't see why when I'm a also tailor/ merchant/ CM/ dancer/ musician/ TKA/ ranger/ etc that it's a problem for me to participate in other forums.

Its a shame that we dont have a coorespondent that wont answer questions on this forum.
There is a number of people asking for help that is answered by the politician community, that Pappi doesnt even touch on. The community should do this, and its fantastic that we do......but shouldnt the coorespondent talk with us more?
Making a City Issue thread every week doesnt make you a coorespondent. She spends more time in other forums that she does here. Her post history shows it. She hasnt even posted here in 4 days. Im not trying to be ignorant......but there doesnt seem to be any involvement from her at all. NO issues have been fixed at all. Sales tax has been broken since pub 9. THats over a YEAR ago.
Maybe im just bitter......but it seems we as a politician community talk and do more for each other than she does. SHe spends more time in the tailor forums than here. Shoudnt she at least answer questions here for people that ask them? Shoudlnt she do what other coorespondents do and say this is what im doing so often?
Im just getting tired of this profession being ignored.
Hmm... Funny how you contradict yourself here, because in your first line you complain about something weapparently lack in the current correspondentand then you go on about accusing that same correspondent of being like what you just said she isn't ![]()
No, seriously now... Quit harrassing Pappi will you?
She did a great job in the past and is still doing so. But she doesn't get paid to do what she does, so she doesn't answer to you or anyone else. We may think she should but we can't expect her to. You can't expect her to pop in here every hour of the day to answer questions for people too lazy to use the search function. It's not like this is her daytime job now is it? Correspondents do notexist to cater to our every whim, now do they? And Pappi has a real life as well. Really.
If you could be troubled to follow this particular board a bitand read older posts, you'd see that Pappi herself has stated numerous times that she does a lot behind the scenes, working on the devs via the boards only accessible to them and thecorrespondents.
She has also stated on numerous occassions that the developers have indicated to her that the Politician profession isn't going to see any developer attention anytime soon, which we all crave by the way.
So, quit harrassing her and start exercising a little patience. I don't like this status quo any bit more than you do. Nor does anyone else currently in the Politician business. But Pappi is not at fault here, on the contrary! Harrass the developer team about it, if you think that helps,or quit your account ifyou can't put up with it any longer. Butdon't bash the innocent ![]()
Quite frankly, your attitude is rude at the best: you hold someone, powerless in that particular area, responsible for something she doesn't control, because you are oblivious to all the facts. Do you know what we call someone like that in the real world of politics? (A politician, so perhapsI shouldn't be too harsh on you because you'reactually acting your part here
)
We should be grateful to Pappi that she even wants to do this thankless job for us: no pay,no secondary benefits, having to perform acts of diplomacy to the devs on our behalf, being put on hold by themand then having to duck from all the negative comments we throw at her, and to the devs via her. I can't blame her for residing in different forums from time to time, especially because sheplays other professions as well.
And now, back on topic. As far as the sales tax issue, use the search and please read back. It was mentioned on occassion, some time ago. But to answer your question: there has been an answer. The Politician profession is not a priority for the developer team right now and there was no indication given about when it is going to be.
Edit: Ah Pappi, you beat me to it ![]()

btw, an urban legend holds that a sales tax of EXACTLY 10% does work. The down side is that charging a 10% sales tax will run all your merchants out of town.
It *did* work at exactly 10%, but even that got broken with the addition of the galaxy-wide vendor search.

I appreciate the response, even though you really didnt understand what i was gettting at.
There are alwys questions that are raised on this forum that are answer by the community,........which is great and i love it......but Pappi is no where to be seen. Do i think that she needs to be here every hour? No i do not....i understand that we all have a life outside of the game....and was in no means saying that she shouldnt have one.
This is the only forum that im involved in that the coorsepondent doest interact with the community of their forum on a reg basis. Except now the Armorsmith forum, which has no correspondent now.
What im saying that maybe concerns like mine here, wouldnt be brought up so much if she was talking with us on a daily basis....something that EVERY other correspondent does.

If she's not here every hour, yet the community at large is then why do you believe she should be able to answer questions faster? Should she re-answer questions that now no longer exist as questions? Should she respond at least once in every thread regardless of how pertinent that response would be?
She's a forumite just like everyone else without a Red/Gold name the only difference is she gets to see a couple special forums. I can see the Alpha boards, does this make me somehow more responsible for my posting behaviour? Do I have to post in any one forum more than another due to this?
And for the latter part, I am truly curious...what is it she should talk to us about? Grand sweeping design change ideas that will not be implimented? Possible tweaks to the skills and abilities (even though we need big plans and a revamp more than tweaks) that, again, won't be implimented? Approaches to city specific problems as they crop up that can truly only be decided by the person at hand regardless of the guidance others give him? How to make a good cheese fondu?
It has been said that we aren't going to be given much dev attention for awhile, (
)just like many crafting professions or entertainer professions, due to other factors. Namely the combat re-write and new expansion. With that in mind what exactly is there for us to truly discuss that will have any relevance in the game? Sure there is plenty to chat about but that involves forumers chatting, not community representatives working their role.

I have some realistic standards. I don't try to answer every question on the forum any more after doing so for nearly a year, and I don't give out false hope by pretending there is any dev interest in politician right now. I'm not willing to appear whiney or frustrated in front of the devs, as I believe that reflects poorly on my profession. I also don't expect my forum to understand the work I do in the background and in the corr forum, and I'm comforted that I've done as much for politicians as anyone could've done with the circumstances we faced.
for the record, I *will* be retiring soon due to the corr term limit set last November. I have no intention to reapply, as I could really use some time off of the forums to write my thesis
I'm definitely not the best correspondent, and I don't pretend to be. I do my part by expressing my forum's concern on various politician issues/bugs and help out other professions to make this a better game, and that's all I strife for.
