Actually, I thought the plea was a very compassionate one. Rebels, covert or overt, because of the scanners, would be targetted and blasted down. And he doesn't want them to be continually griefed and trapped in their cloning facility.

He has no way of warning people, he can't put a sign at the starport at Nym's to say "Rebels, don't come here or you will be trapped", especially people who have no clue that they can be continually ganked in this manner, so he's looking fora way to prevent people from coming in and hurting themselves (and being trapped in the cloning center) forever.

It wasn't his intention to trap rebels in the city at all. And he's looking for a way to prevent that happening, while still maintaining a decent defense against rebel incursion.

Thank you, this is the main reason for the thread. We are creating an Imperial City, which means if rebels, covert or overt enter it, they will be killed. However we don't want to endlessly grief them, its not the way we play this game, yet we still wish to protect our citizens from rebel attacks, and trust me they do attack, like Col Deveron said we already beat back 100+ rebels that attacked our 7 faction bases(atm) and we are sure more attacks will come, we just want to insure that the rebels have a good time getting there. It makes for more interesting battles that way anyhow, as they most have larger groups and be more organized to cross the lokian wastelands. I think the solution that I have heard from others is to allow them to choose from going to the closest player city or the closest non-player cloning center. That way they don't have to clone into our cloning center and can instead clone to, in our case the Imperial Outpost, and they would be covert aswell, but no covert detectors are there so they are safe. Right now our best option is to make sure that the general population on our server knows that we are an IMPERIAL city, which I think is already pretty well known.

until such things are available.. here are couple things you might be able to do... (this is how we planned our city)

Our cloning center and faction base is about 200m apart..

There is a field (well rows of houses) about 64m away from the cloning center that are in the "protected" zone.. that means.. detectors, mine field, turrets etc etc. so... I am thinking to post a sign at the cloning center telling them if you continue going west... you will be shot.. or something like that..

so their only option is to run east (toward our factory district) and leave town.. heading north will lead to a lake and more turrets and land mines

so their only option is to go south and east

granted this leave an open gap for easier attack (everyone land in our shuttle port) but I think unless things change.. this is it.. (btw.. I died in several place around 2km radius of our city and only our cloning center shows up...

Anyone regardless of faction, should have their ability to clone in a cities cloning centre rejected, if they are /cityban'ed, if they die in your city while banned they should be respawning at the 'next' nearest cloning centre without any question. I cant see room for griefing this way. This is how it should be.

If your constantly re-spawning in a city which has militia griefing people, then that is just causing more problems than if you are truely banned from the cloning there.

i know cityban is currently bugged and doesnt work with anything, so maybe give them time to fix it before worrying about the cloning issue though.

I understand it is not own by me.. it is own by the citizen and the city... but 95% of the citizens are imperial.. and 5% neutral

And well.. most of our citizen doesn't like rebels very much like in real life.. you can deny service to anyone if you know they are here to cause trouble

and it seems that rebels want to cause trouble.. they try to destroy our faction base many times now.

Everything in our city is owned by the city. The city is owned by whoever made it, or if you will whoever is in power at the time. If we did not make it the city would not be there. The people who have created a city made or was grated everything in it. We cannot destroy a static city (Karen for example) because we do not own them, we can destroy our city because we own it we made it. it is that simple.

Is there any actual Mayor that does not feel this way?

The easiest way to fix this would be to allow anyone who dies the option of spawning at

  • The last cloning center they cloned at (if on the same planet).

  • The closestNPC city cloning center.

  • The closest Player city cloning center.

i dont think they shoud even have faction scanners in cities. If a city is IMP there will be no rebel recruitere for him to go overt so he would be similiar to nuetral.

Acually, the second you place a town Cloning center or a Shutle port you have opened your city to everyone. You can always make the choice to not have a cloning center or a shuttleport.

Remember you are just a mayor, you dont get to control who uses the facilities in the city you are Mayor of.

Sorry... I was too lazy to read the entire thread... So if someone mentioned this beforehere it is again

OK SOLUTION

1. Place your shuttleport well within your protected radius.. that way when the rebs move in to attack using your shuttleport, they learn their lesson.

2. Place your cloning center just outside your protected radius facing away from the protection... that way, any rebs that do clone in your city can only clone but not much else... btw when they clone they'll be covert again and not be able to grief you in any physical fashion.

I say keep this system in place until there is a better way to combat that issue

Or you can have no Covert Faction Scanners, so the people who want to fight can, a ones who need some heals can rest up in your city. But I could see how that could open up so oppertunities for griefing
