I think that the first jump will be the hardest, especially in less than ideal terrain. I can understand bumping the higher levels, but I wish they would have left the requirement to go to Level 2 alone.

Imo the city radius should be 450 right from the start, no village is a small clump of houses, they are rather spread out anyway, Dont think expanding the radius to 450 from the start would unbalance anything at all, just ease the initial designing work on our part

actually a 150m radius isnt all that small. Where i am currently (small city starting up about 6 residents so far) we are somewhat spread out. I measured from where i wanted to put the hall over to the edge and i had a rough estimate of about 130m. (measured using the compass). Plus thats one reason to increase your size, make your city bigger.

well I already have a small town of about 25-30 houses and 3 PA halls... Thanks to the 150m radius I have to move move a PA hall to place the city hall in its place and I will still only get 8 houses within range... if I simply placed it behind the PA hall, 'next door' along the same road, I would only get 5 houses in range. I COULD place the City hall in the middle of our road, but then we would have to more 2 Large houses and 3 PA halls later.

What I want to know is if we will be able to have our 'future citizens' declare their residency at one of the tent structures, then we could have a small shanty town along our street till their true houses come into range.

I already heard that their structure terminals look the same has a house's but has anyone tested it out owning only the tent to see if they become citizens of the town?

Ahh, the joys of city planning . Theres a good chance you'll have to do some replanning and moving in order to get enough houses into the 150m radius in order to get it up-graded to to a village.
Also, no, you cannot declare residency on merchant tents because they were put in as an alternative to a home (thus being a shop). You're probably going to have to put in houses until the radius increases, then move them... But i'll leave that up to you

This is specificly what I am talking about.

A.) You had to start a city in a new area thus moving and setting up houses to meet the 150m requirement. While this is fine in your case, what about a pre-existing group of houses that are already established as a thriving business district and wish to become a city.

B.) While 6 houses plus a City Hall may be able to fit comfortably within the 150m Radius, remember that you must fit not 5 but 15 houses in that same area with the City Hall to advance to the next rank. Then the fun begins, you are now rank two and have had the radius grow by 50m (a total of a 200m radius) with in that additional 50m you have to place an additional 15 houses to advance to rank 3. This forces a gird type setup, with out being able to fully enjoy new city perks, do to lack of room, needed for minimum housing amounts. This equates to an all or nothing option. Either grow the city to rank 4-5 to have the room to breath and setup city perks or forget about having a 'nice' city all together. 8o(

I didn't see merchant huts on the list. What level do you get merchant huts?

People, buy a few small houses and place them temporary in the 150m, its really not that big of deal.. Once you expand then you can remove the temp housing and be happy.

To everyone complaining about the city radius' please check your facts. If your city is made on a completely flat area you could easily get atleast 30 or maybe 40 houses within the first border. Ofc this is not the case for most people, but still. If you're not able to get 15 houses within the first border you should really consider moving. the 150m limit is much bigger than you think.

It's possible, given thegreater flexability / loosened terrain placement on test, to getthe town hall and 50houses inside of the 150m radius.

Any word on the class 4 & 5's? Is there going to be any building types restricted to class 5? If not, what is the bonus for getting that large?
