funny.. people move out of our town due to 2k income tax per week...... .we finally remove that and just live off 5% sales tax and hunting parties (see our website for details)

what I don't understand is that I'm a crafter all my SWG life... and I can make 2k a week EASILY... that shouldn't be a factor at all.. I finally got an alt for combat and I make WAY more than that in 10 minutes.... so I don't see why 2k a week is such a big deal (I play like 12 hours a week at most)

This is a great thread! I just became mayor of a town...and I am looking over our financials...before player cities, we used to collect 3000 credits from each citizen weekly. No big deal. Well since citizen tax can only be a max of 2000, we also implemented property tax. The problem is...the cities still cost so much to run.

I am curious what other towns to do make up the money that you need instead of running in the red? I have begun recruitement for my city and the biggest thing that turns people off is the citizen tax of 2000 credits. Most interesting. Anyone offer incentives for new citizens?

Yeah, people making a big deal about 2000 credits a week mystifies me.

Middle of the road missions pay between 500-600 credits. Just run a few in less then an hour's time. You're done for the week. Heck, even just starting out I made thousands of credits selling better-then-the-newbie-one CDEH pistols for 50 credits each.

As a master weaponsmith I make weekly what it takes to fund the city in that same time frame. Expecting someone to make 2000 a week isn't to hard.

One thing I've done for my city is to collect items they don't want to be bothered with and I auction them here on the boards. When I took over as mayor we have four Wookie Life Day Orbs in our coffers. The previous mayor had been handing them out to citizens who made donations. I ended up auctioning them off for a total of 760K which I dumped into the treasury.

Our PA runs our city, and we do it by ... selling rare items. That's right. Tissues, Scales, Components -all that costs hundreds of thousands and millions. Both our City Hall and PA Hall vaults are in millions. Of course, it helps to be one of the oldest PAs on the server. Still, that is no way to run a city. Yet,I'm glad that mission terminals do not pay players from Cityfunds ... Double-edged sword, if u ask me.

Well, people are funny. Maybe it is the word "tax" that simply turns them on. They will happily pay 6-10k for a good buff that only lasts 3 hours. But they moan about a 2k tax once a week. People are funny.

Word! My folks are used to 2K by now. But try increasing shuttleport rate by 100 credits! that's right - 100!

But we've been blessed this week by ever-shifting resources - some good locations spawned within city limits. Harvesters and farms going up all over the place. Here comes the moneys from the property taxes! Heck, even some outsiders asked me if they can place some of their harvesters!

Man, I love this job

Our town works on a donation basis. We do have a 100 credit shuttlefee, but no taxes. As a tier IV, the city treasury has a balance between 3 to 4 weeks in it at any given time.

I think the reason the donation works well for us is that we have a real friendly group and the close knit of friendship tends to help each other out alot and donate more than their fair share to help out those recently arriving residents that don't have alot of credits. In addition, we don't have a large number of holo grinders, so they tend to donate more than spend their credits toassist their grinding. We also have a some that don't get involved in the GCW so they are not always looking to buy the uber equipment and like the idea of the sense of community that we have worked to established.
