Wow... as a future politician, I'm very sorry you and the citizens are going through this. I hope things get sorted out. But just remember that nothing is a failure until you give up on it. Perhaps start again, this time investing your own SPs as KJFett said, or just finding a better screening process for a future mayor.

Good luck with it all.

After feeling the pressure of using 77 points to be a politician I bought a second account and we elected him the mayor. I have mainatned the account but a few of the core members of the city have access to it as well. It seems to be the only real soultion we were happy with.

Paying an extra $15 a month gave us the security of having a stable Mayor Bot so to speak. Anyone unable or unwilling to do the same has to risk a situation like this when locating and hiring a replacement mayor. This is one of those quirky situations in SWG where I don't expect a quick fix or a soultion.

By design you need a decicated player to use skill points to function as the sole owner of a player city. I think the real "fix" is giving players automatic access to two character slots per account. Then you would see the dedicated, mature founders of player cities keeping the mayor role on their own alts. Freeing them to persue the full 250 character points as they see fit on the primary.

Sorry about your loss. I know the rules and by design don't seem to be in your favor but I hope a CSR will understand that the actions of that one player cause harm to the game play of your 65 citizens. If you speak with a CSR Supervisor maybe you can get it fixed. I'm sure they don't want 65 customers potentialy quitting beacause some Loony Toon mayor had a tantrum.

1) I'm a "her", and
2) I forwarded the issue to a CSR, and it's now out of my hands.

remember folks, I'm not a SOE employee...

These aremy closing thoughts on the matter.

Thank you pappi, for forwarding the issue to csrs, however futile it may have been.

And excuse me, I am totally unfamiliar with you, and mistook you for a "he". My apologies.

As far as "putting" laca into power, as someone above wrote a short novel about...

All i ever do is get the people to vote, im the one who spend endless hours of effort, and 100k bribes, just to get the people to come in and vote. I have never hand selected a mayor, ive only tried to help, when no one else seemed to care.

What id really like to say is: SOE has about the most lopsided, irrational community standards, i have ever encountered in anything relative to such.

Who makes these rules?

This is what I understand, and excuse me, if the truths revealed, malign soe/swg policy.

Its ok for me to run from town to town, work to get elected, then just tear down the city services, structures, and city hall.

Yet remain, to do it again and again.

HOWEVER, if i should choose to speak my mind, or defend myself against vulgar language and slander, with that same tactic, Ill be removed in a heart beat.

These are the issues truely baking my mind.

Stupidity is to be expected from miscreants, juveniles, and online addicts, but to expect it or accept it from a company that i pay so much money to, is absolutely insane.

Looks like, in the end, it is I, who am stupid, for even continuing this courtship with soe.

I feel for you, the current mayor role is unlike any "mayor" since Ceaser.

I too have been the one calling the troops to "Vote!" to save the city.

It all fell on deaf ears and the whole of the profession will need a change before the mayor isn't a "god" in the city.

Wow. Sad story!

I hope that you guys get it fixed, but it also serves as a lesson about not just letting anyone become mayor...

It sounds to me like the only person in the mix who was worthy of being mayor was you. Good luck!

I hope pappi can do something.

This happened to us and they did nothing.

Ours even placed factories where the old city hall was so we have to find a spot for that which left us with som unbuildable areas.

Thepositive note is your city goes quickly because the population grows into it, although you may need to move things around.

The sad note is if you are on a planet that is level 4 capped and someone takes you r level 4 spot before you grow back you are screwed.

Good luck with this.

Sadly, it seems not all the CSRs are on the same page about every issue.

You can be assured that certain CSRs have in the past taken steps regarding this kind of "griefing" and helped the town that was destroyed. Heck, I think I might even have a screenshot of a CSR telling me that someone who destroys a city maliciously can be banned, I'll have to dig around.

My advice: If one CSR says "Sorry, you're out of luck", simply respond to the ticket and explain that you have been told differently, and would like a second opinion. Be polite about it though.

Also, try the CSR chatroom from the LaunchPad. There's usually1 or 2 CSRs in there at all times, and if you can get their attention, it's easier to talk to them live than it is going back and forth with replies to in-game tickets.

Good luck!

/sigh... how many time have I told everyone that I can't do anything besides forward the issue?

I did get a response from the CSR I talked to, but I'm going to wait until I have permission to post a public response. in the mean time, if you city has an issue report it ASAP. there is such a thing as "it's too late for the CSRs to do something", apparently O.o

I really feel that the Mayor should be prevented from destroying the city completely out of malice. I am a Mayor myself and would never resort to these kind of tactics. If they keep an election system in place then anyone has the right ot run against an existing mayor, thats the whole point of democracy. If a guild has setup a city then they member need to be active enough to make sure that the mayor of their choice does not loose an election. SOE, however, need to finding a way to prevent a Mayor from destroying a city out of malice and still do this without interfering with the regular duties of the mayor may be difficult. Maybe if they put a limit on how many structures you can move in a week? Maybe set it up so that a certain number of citizens need to agree to destroy the city hall, or put a time limit, say 2 weeks before its actually destroyed, if a new mayor is elected then the destroy command is canceled until its initiated again by the current mayor. These are just a few ideas, hopefully something can be done to prevent this, because whether or not they are breaking any rules by doing this i believe that it is totally unfair to the citizens in the city. Either way, something needs to be done.

Quoth Snikrop,

> the whole of the profession will need a change before the mayor isn't a "god" in the city.

Ironically, the mayor is far from a god in every way except this. He can't move, or force citizens to move, houses which are in "the wrong place." He can't condemn abandoned structures. He can't ban people from entering the city. He can't run people out of town if they misbehave. In fact apart from wandering around town socialising and dropping mission terminals he can't really do anything except destroy the city hall and ruin all the work that the citizens have put into the city.

While almost totally impotent to carry out his duty to the electorate he is free to throw a temper tantrum and grief several dozen players without repercussion.

This same type of thing happened to New Destiny on Ahazi... one of the best player cities. It's a lousy system...
