Totally agree with these ideas... great job at presenting them. Thanks.

It is true, mayors and player cities get the shaft in this Galaxy. Shame, because it is your A-list players that have the gumption to build cities.

I agree as well. Such simple changes could be made that would positively affect a huge amount of people in the game.

Excellent suggestions. It's nice to know the lead designer is the "City & Politician" guy. It's crazy that he's been stuck on JTL so long and has no time for us. SOE is running lean on staff and I can cope with that. They told us after JTL launches (and is patched several times) he would have time to address our issues. I expect to see the staff fix the ground game in the next few months, don’t you?

Cities need a huge series of changes to be a draw to players. Content should be anything in game that causes players to enjoy the experience, play again next month and ask their friends to buy the game to join in. Anything short of that is not really content. Player cities certainly are not content in terms of game code and features.

Right now only the players themselves are a draw. The community and friendships people make in player cities keep the alive. How long can we keep that going without SOE providing the fixes and improvements players like you have suggested and we agree with?

Great Post!

I agree with ever idea. Implementation of any or all of these ideas would only improve the profession and the game in general. Best of all, at first glance at least, none of these ideas appear to hurt the game in any way... so why not?

Hmmmm... Sad to hear your throwing in the towel.....

I have been a Mayor since the second city release.

I have mastered the Mayor profession and experienced about every negative issue in this game.

Your points are very valid and I like your idea's alot (add tera forming unless i missed it)

For what is supposed to be a player run community and then to not empower the leaders is a major flaw in this game and in my opinion a game breaking one.

Like you I have often considered dropping the game but the way our city is run is much diferent, we have never charged any taxes to anyone and we work as a co-op and a corporation that I started with another player provides all the income we need to pay for the city. We assist newbies and crafters and strive to create the highest quality items in the game for those that need them.We are a neutral city and all are welcome to join.

This takes huge amounts of my time to do this what do I recieve as mayor and what do I enjoy in the game Hmmmm.. basicly not alot were it not for the citizens that i have grown to know and close personal friendswithin my city I would also quit.

I would like to enjoy being mayor I would like something for the last 7 months of giving up my skill points so that I can run the city and watching others become jedi or find cool loot all these things even if we could have some power as mayors some enjoyment even control of our city from punks and spoilers.

Well put Jenner , very well put.

What has to be done for these changes?

Player Cities and Politicians at this point are massive money and skill point sinks.

First. Yet another brilliant post. Too bad to see you leaving.

Second: Too bad the politician profession will get no attention until at least first quarter '05. Our dev, Greenmarine, is hard at work on JTL which will bring in more players to live in our broken cities. It has always seemed to me there are many things the devs could do to give us a little love: Trainer and Mission Terminal percentage to go to treasurey. "Mayor" title. Little things like this would let our community feel like some attention was felt.

Brilliance ! ! !

- I think that everything he mentionned was right on the money.

- i just keep the gardens IV on my skills and keep a trainer handy.

- w/ 1point for each box it would help out insanely.

- im a master Doctor and need 3 vendors to sell everything.

- i gave up on taxing citizens, so we just place 13ber mineral pumpers.

- then sell the resources for 1cpu.

- they do need to come out w/ new buildings.

- the warehouses idea was right on. make it cost the city 100k/week for 1000 items, which could be space rented out and another income for the city.

- streetlights should be able to place 2 per citizen.

- create a city chat where everyone can join in.

- my city has both imperial and rebel PAs.

I have been the mayor of a metropolis and playing for over a year. I mastered politician and feel this profession is both a total joke and a waste of skill pts. Politicians lose millions in personal funds getting a city going. I am seriously considering quitting SWG....................there is no content to this game other than kill everyting that moves to get xp to fill little green boxes?

Being mayor of a large city is mostly a thankless job no matter how much you to help your city residents. I agree with everyting said in the original post. SOE, I hope you are listening and ACTUALLY do something to fix player cities and the politician profession. My advice is also not to waste you time or credits on trying to start a player city. Of course there are always those players who want a city because they think it will be cool. It is easy to build up a city, but the hard part is to maintain your residents to keep you shuttle for a level 4 city........this is even harder for a metropolis. Unless you really want a player city and are in it for the long haul you will get bored with being a Mayor and want to quit and do someting else. The really scary thing is that there are alot of 15 to 17 year old kids who are mayors of player cities.

Player cities are at present a total joke.................dont' waste your time or credits on the politician. Believe me....I speak from personal experience as a former master policitican of a metropolis on Dantooine on Bria server.
