Thread: Devs Why would you do this?
I am utterly, completely dumbfounded at the recent announcement that /citywarn is being removed from the game. This is one of those features that FINALLY allow players some control over territory and a sense of community and ownership....and you take it away. I truly dont understand.
1. Entering a city is voluntary
2. /citywarn gives a TWO MINUTE window.
No one is forcing players to come to player cities, and two minutes and plenty of time to get out if you get warned. Removing /citywarn will do nothing more than neuter player cities ability to police themselves AND open cities to verbal griefing and harassing. Our city is an imperial city. Now ANY covert rebel can wander about with impunity and we cant do a thing about it. Thanks so much ![]()

I like the removal of /citywarn. There is no crime that players can commit in a city that can't be handled by /ignore. The only crime is verbal abuse.
If your city is an Imperial city, then you will have a faction base and covert scanners placed throughout town. Problem solved.
because 12 year old kids had to abuse the absolute crap out of it
So this now make a miltia completly pointless. I thought the entire point of player cities was to bring a more RL feel into the game. We should have complete ablitly to police our cities in the way we feel. /Citywarn can be avoided by anyone, just dont' go there. Or if warned leave you have plenty of time to get 400m and not be attacked. Correct me if I'm wrong but /citywarn was selling point by the Devs for player citites.
Plinka, please put you foot down on this one for us, all they are doing is making cities into fancy looking areas of buildings.
NPC cities have guards, Bestine IMP guards, Corsec ect, if you faction is bad they shoot you and you can't ask an NPC to stop. I thought the CH nerf was going to be bad, but this is ruining the city feel and we have only had them a month.
The reason why it is being removed, as stated by Plinka in another thread, is that people are dropping their city halls at POIs, and then using /citywarn to kill anyone else coming into that POI.
Let's say that you have found a constant respawn of FS NPCS which are 10% resists and no armor. Plunk down a city hall, grab a few friends, and start killing. Anyone one else comes within 150-200m, /citywarn them and then kill them, just so you can have the spawn for yourself.
This could be devolved to larger POIs, such as The Warren or the Krayt Graveyard. Voila, you and your guild have your own private POI, and holo drops/krayt tissue drops all to yourself, and if you're a large enough group, you can probably destroy anyone else coming in, simply because you can /citywarn them and strike first.
Ok I missed Plinkas post on that somehow. With that point being made, POI's should have never been build zones, Granted there are plenty of FS guys on dantooine to get around that, but that is a true exploit and the Devs should act on them. The Devs get nerf happy cause it is easier for them then finding a solution to a problem.
Think vs Nerf the Devs take Nerf, very unfair to every SWG member, these nerfs have ripped through basically every profession, to bad we can't nerf the Devs.
They know they are rebels if they are white and dont have their PA tag after their name...that way they can grief the heck out of whoever comes into "thier" city ![]()
We dont like strangers comin into our village ya'hear? boy?
In our town of 55 people, we've used citywarn ZERO times so far. Why? Because our militia are responsible, mature people that know it's only to be used as a last resort. Have they threatened to use it? Yes, but it's never gotten any farther than that.
We NEED citywarn to make sure certain people don't cause problems like mentioned in the post prior to mine. We've solved many problems in our Cantina this way: take your problems outside, or get a citywarn! Our militia has uniforms and responds and acts very professionally.
If the problem is POI's, make them UNBUILDABLE with a RADIUS around them.
Sheesh... don't kill the method through which we can police ourselves and not have to get CSR's involved anytime there's an issue.
