#1
I'm quite busy this week, but we're due for a top 5 a while back and I wanted the new changes to settle down *slightly* before polling. please give me your new top 5 (in order of importance). short description optional, but make sure I know what you're talking about if you skip this. top 1-3 from the old top 5 list are still major issues, and I expect those to be in our new top 5. However, unfolding #1 might be a good idea.
please keep the thread constructive. no, I never saw any responses to our last top 5, but take some time to look through some old threads before asking for something that's already in game or have been rejected by the devs already. I'll leave this thread up for a while

#1. Remove skill points for politician
#2. Give politicians ability to create their own type of missions (with various rewards attached to it) for the city. Maybe a pvp tournament, rescue mission, treasure hunting, assasination, assist and destroy, escort, even big city type events like getting attacked by mokks (on dantooine), or a horde of mad ravenous tortons trampling through the city. Whether an npc or a terminal.
#3. Please put the old system back in where the current mayor automatically gets the vote and automatically run, but leave the resign feature in. I don't understand why the new system was implemented. Majority of the politicians just wanted the ability to resign, so not sure why the other part was implemented cause it'll seem more like work for the players or they'll forget.
#4. Change maintenance cost to 3 weeks.
#5. Give politicians the ability to actually become a mayor in the npc city. This would Make the npc cities habitable (IE apartments and such) that can be controlled by the politican and can even give the npc cities a specific perk (and make cities like bestine worthwhile for the imperial npcs by giving them bonus from the stronghold skill).
Anyways just some things off the top of my head that will really improve
EDIT: BTW I'm not a full fledged politician, however I have exp'd a lot of the politician issues, and these are something that would really make being a politician a fun skill. The funny thing is, player cities is one of those vital things in SWG. When player cities fall, this really discourages player. Give these type of perks to poltiicians so they actually feel like a true politician and would be fun.

#1: Give the Master Politician Box any sense. No matter what
but to see it empty is very frustrating
#2: I like the idea of making missions like Blackedge has posted above. Or any other additional functions to fill our cities with content. Maybe placeable NPCs for some kind of events. It could be possible to customize the dialogues of them so that a bunch of mayors could make some kind of game with them. (Dunno if someone understand this
)
#3: What about the "Mayor of ..." possibility?
#4: Change the system of the city updates. If you run an old city at rank 3 (or other) waiting for an update and you are still capped, other upcoming mayors can place their city some hours before your update and get a bigger chance to get the rank 4 (or other) when its possible.
#5: What about more decorations?

my list...
- Lower or remove skill point cost. I'm all for 2 SPs per skill or something similar, none would be great but I don't see that happening. Also related to this, make all of our skill boxes do something, and rumors fly that some of the specializations don't actually do anything. Lets make sure that if we're gonna pay 50k+ for a specialization that it works.
- Allow us to examine the sign on a house or something, so that we as mayors can tell who owns a house. I have implemented a house sign name rule in my city...but does that mean that everyone listens? Not interested in the ability to remove a house, but give us a way to contact the owner of the strucutre and talk them into moving it.
- Craftable missions. Or at least some way of creating goodrole-playingevents in player cities.
- Streetlamps no longer count as one decoration. Make every 3 count as one decoration even. Also additional garden designs, quest based would be really interesting.
- "Mayor of Kashyyykur" Title (for me at least :smileyvery-happy

Mayor JoseCuervo - Kashyyykur, Rori - Corbantis
-AoWL - Army of Wookie Liberation

1. have the system send a notice to residents if the mayor decides to just delete his/her char instead of almost instantly destroying alll city structures. and give like a 5 day(or shorter but longer then 10 min) grace period to allow the town to get a new mayor in office.

1.) Fix the taxes! Especially Sales Tax.
2.) Skill point cost. If not remove it, at least lower it a bunch.
3.) Put something in the Master skill box.
4.) Content! What ever happened to those "City Missions" that were mentioned once upon a time?
5.) Shipwright trainers. Easy, low cost addition that would make people happy.
Better late than never.

from the old list:
city financial reports
- the mayor's weekly maintenance email should include a breakdown of income from all sources as well as a breakdown of expenses. if there is a shortage of funds for maintenance, it should be the mayor's decision on how to spend it
new possibilities:
city management
-- for the mayor only, the city management terminal should display a waypoint for all items in the city -- all the decorations and city structures, and the residence of all the citizens
decorations
-- the city decorations list needs to show all of the items placed, not just the first 50. and, I agree that streetlamps need to be taken out of the decorations limit -- how about tying it to the number of citizens (if population drops, the oldest streetlamps disappear). perhaps just a 'placement fee' for them? or maybe a 'bulk rate' based on the city size?
and, can we get some random NPCs in our cities too? other than by having people take delivery missions and then not completing them
skill points
-- this is a tough one. I agree that presently the point costs are not justified by the available capabilities. perhaps patterning it similar to the force sensitive skills -- 0 for Novice and Master, 1 each for the other 12 boxes? alternatively, there's the pilot skills pattern -- 0 for all boxes, but you must complete a line before you can get skills in the next line.
either way, all newcomers to the profession are at a rediculous disadvantage -- with the three week system (weekly "bonus" notwithstanding), it'll take far too long for any new politician to gain useful skills if votes are the only source of xp. maybe adding an additional bonus each time their city gains a citizen or a structure?
by the way, wasn't the change for incumbent mayors supposed to be that they could remove themselves from the ballot? instead, we ended up with not being on the ballot unless we go reregister for every election
skill trainers
-- how about giving mayors are reason to hire these folks, other than simple convienence? some (or all?) of the money paid to them should make its way into the city coffers. and yes, a shipwright trainer should be added to the list of possibilities

1.Income for the city: Fix Sales Tax, make part of Skill Trainer and Mission Terminal proceedes go to the city treasury.
2. Tools to Police the City: A modified /citywarn or a beefed up /cityban. Mayor's need to have control of their cities, and the militia needs a purpose beyond /grantzoningrights. Something that gets "law-breaking" players out of a player city.
3. City Communication Tools: There have already been some excellent suggestions made for in-city communication (particularly on that last Top 5 list). I would also like to see a way to make custom signposts or other means to relay the laws of the city and other information for visitors.
4.Perks for Masters: There are a zillion and one suggestions (many of them very good ideas) on new features that could be given to the master box. With so many "one-hit-wonder" skills, there needs to be some benefit for those investing the skill points with the Master title.
5. Skill Point Evaluation: Under no circumstances do I want to see Politician be a no-skill-point class. I do, however, want to see skills added to politician that make it worth the current skill cost or see a reduction in skill-points.

i like the city bullitin board idea, because once cities get big its hard to keep in communication with all citizens. I also think that there should be more of a planetary government, one that might swing the pressence of certian npc's or creatures spawning on said planet. Also... I know this is more for the architecht forum but i can put it here too.... i think each planet should have its own house designs...t he current three(4 if you count gen and cor each) are getting kind of old... id liek a variety
