Thread: Mayors Are Helpless Against Law-Breaking Citizens

as you know citizens cannot be /citybanned

mayors need some way to enforce the law (leaving /citywarn out of the issue for the time being)

I propose that mayors be granted the ability to place a fine on citizens... there should be a maximum amount for the fine, and there should be a maximum frequency of placing the fine on any one citizen... the fine should have to be payed at the City Terminal, and up until the fine were payed, the citizen should be effectively /citybanned (inable to use city utilities)... upon the fine being payed, the effective /cityban would be instantly removed from the citizen in question (the 'effective /cityban' should not be subject to /citypardon)

yes I can see how this may lead to some griefing, but if that were to be the case, the Mayor could be removed and replaced by another one

please provide your constructive feedback (positive and negative are welcome)

I like the idea... in fact, I LOVE it.

I can't see a real issue of Mayoral Griefing since citizens have the abilty to leave the city or just vote the mayor out of office. BUT rude citizens CAN grief a city and suffer no consequences. Your idea would create a balance.

Why not? Only mayors can pardon =)

ummm no militia can /citypardon too

in addition to this there should be weights on /cityban and /citypardon so that if someone was /citybanned by the mayor a militia would not be able to /citypardon

but that's a separate issue and quite a bit less unimportant that what I am suggesting

please provide more feedback : )

This is a great idea. No doubt about it.

I have had to weather severalscenarios where this would have been very, very helpful had it been available. It is very unfortunate that more often than not a city's worst enemies can been it's own citizens.

In the end our only currently available method of defense is the hard work and diligence of our friends and fellow citizens in most cases. Something like this would at least provide a method of making our discomfort felt in some small way by the offending party.

LeBob,

I was as mayor able to cityban a citizen last night. Shocked me well as the citizen as it was all in jest. Gave nme the message that he was banned and I had to city pardon him.

Perhaps this has been fixed?

I'll have to test this when I get home tonight... That would be a very interesting development.

This is a really great idea! I think itwould help both the hardcore RP'ers as well as the power players. We should get a petition going on it.

another thing i would like to see in regard to this would be a list of who is citybanned. I had a former resident who griefed a few people with /cityban and it would be helpful if i needed to correct any bans

Not only would I like to be able to placea fine, but I would like some sort of city jail to be implemented. So if a player will not or cannot pay a fine they get sent to jail. This could also be fun if other could "break them out".
