Thread: I need Master Politicians to test and report.

I need information on the possibility that the master politician abilities may actually be available to you, but are simply not shown in text form on the skill window.

Master Politicians: Go to your city's management terminal and select specializations and please make a test for me.

1. Look at the list of specializations offered to see if any of them are the hybrid specializations that were listed under master politician when the player cities were first released.

2. If not, attempt to choose one specialization, and then attempt to choose a second and see if you are allowed to choose two specializations due to your master politician skill.

Please report your results back to me in this thread and I will take the information back to Thunderheart ASAP.

I need this so that I can further our argument to the devs that we need this fixed ASAP. I am pushing to get something done on the missing abilities in the master politician skill box, and knowing this information will help me make that push.

Basinia, Naboo, Chilastra reporting in. I am a Master Politician. My jaw is on the floor...and unfortunately, it's not in a good way.

I just went to test this per your request. I immediately found that no dual-specs were listed.

We were Research Center to begin with. I chose another specialty as you requested - Manufacturing Center, as that + Research Center was one of the listed dual specs that used to be in Master Politician, as Industrial Society.

Not only did nothing happy happen, something very unhappy happened. It changed our spec to Manufacturing Center, and when I went to change it back to Research, per normal, it gave me the message:

"You can not set another city spec right now. Time remaining: 6 days, 23 hours xx minutes."

!

It set a one-week timer in which I can not alter the city spec! (It is one week from the change, not until next city update. Our city update is only 4 days away.) Now we are stuck as a Manufacturing Center, and my 96 citizens are going to be...displeased.

Well, we needed to test this, and it's certainly no "fault" of you, Bajeezus. You were trying heartily to help the Politician community and player cities. But perhaps it's not such a good idea if other cities get themselves stuck in this way, as well. I must caution all Master Politicians of the immediate danger to their cities' specialization statuses.

I am very sorry that my request for testing resulted in this switch of specializations for you, Vorah. If it is any consolation to you, Vorah, this is exactly the information I need to make our case to the devs.

I am currently working on getting a master politician on TC so that I will always be able to test things like this as long as I am the politician correspondent, but since I just made my experiments, as I discussed in the "this week in politics" thread, to personally verify that you keep your specializations even after you drop the skills, I am no longer a master politician on my live server, so I was unable to do this test myself.

I very much appreciate your generosity and your understanding about this. I am going to send a message to the CSR I have worked with in the past on some city issues, and I can not promise that they will be able or even willing to help you on this, but I will make an explanation to them that I was the one who asked you to do this, and that it resulted in an undesireable effect on your city. Perhaps something can be done for you.

Thank you very much. No one else needs to test this, since it does cause a change to your city specialization. The fact that it switches your specialization without any confirmation window or warning is another element that I will report as an issue to the devs.

I have your city, planet and server name. Can you give me the coordinates of your city, and verify that your character name, the one that is the mayor of the city, is Vorah, so that I can send this to the CSRs?

I am glad to deal with this if it can be of help to all cities and Mayors. Yes, it's unhappy and inconvenient, but it also gives strong argument backing up the very thing you are trying to get across to the Devs.

I hope some good will come of it.

My character, Vorah Thalindis, is indeed the Mayor of Basinia.

Our city is located north of Theed, with City Hall at -4000, 6170.

I was going to submit my own CSR report, but as you have offered to do this, I won't complicate the issue by crossing wires until/unless you report that your proposed avenue of resolution is not going to be fruitful.

Very good of you to try to do this, Bajeezus. If nothing comes of your effort, I still am very impressed and thankful that you tried, all the same.

Do make your own CSR report, Vorah. In my experience, they have responded very quickly and positively to player city issues. You can use my screen name and say that I am the correspondent that asked for the experiment to be done. Don't know if that will help, but hey, maybe...

One of the old specializations that were originally available at Master Politician was called "industrial society", whichcombined manufacturing and research specs. Anyone remember what the other master politician specs were called?

Scientific Society, I believe. Googling shows this, too, although it could be really old information.

Scientific society was the other dual spec and it gave you the two healing boosters one for cantina and one for hospitals.

hope this helps

I too recently ran into this problem, and did the same thing as the first person to reply, I added manufacturing center. Not a good idea. I now have a whole city of very angry citizens with me. My city is on the Chilastra server, planet of Dantoine, city name is Novaent Outpost, and the coords are 4388 6715. I submitted a ticket, and the reply I got back was this:

Any publicly released information on this matter can be found at http://www.stawarsgalaxies.com

And that's all I got! I've had nothing but pleasent experiences with the CSR staff until that happened, if you don't know what the problem is, just say so. Ack, I'm sorry for ranting, that just didn't sit well with me, I appoligize. Anyways, please get this problem fixed ASAP Bajeezus, I'd like to know that these past few months of trying to hoard political xp is all for nothing, and you're doing a great job btw.
