Thread: DEV PLEA for enhanced Militia Rights Day 2 of whatever it takes

The folks who have dropped 96 houses using game exploits into our city(bria:Silver City)have stated that they are going to wait us out and have been harassing residents.

The mayor and militia have no recourse which seems to be a flawed system. If CSRs are not going to help the matter, why don't the militia have the rights to take care of the problem themselves.

Transfer structure has allowed one person with temporary zoning rights to plant 96 houses and you are telling us that there is nothing to be done.

I will post this plea everyday until someone responds in an acceptable manor to my post.

The only effective means to stop a group of griefers from hijacking a city is to give militia the right to either:

Evict Players: (IE give them 1 week to remove their structure or it blows up)

Ban Players who are declared residents: not a complete solution but good enough

terminate structures: may be extreme but effective.

The city system is not complete if we are unable to remove unwanted individuals.

Flame away: I will not respond to any post not posted by an employee of SOE and will repost this each day until I am answered or Baned.

Thanks

hon, I've told you this once... I have no prove that the devs will read this, and posting once a day on the same topic will positively drive me nuts. I'm sympathic, and I've passed yesterday's thread on...

unfortunately, while politician is suppose to the the most social profession, the correspondent position is the loneliest. I hope you consider my plea... I can only take so much stress before I consider quitting

I'd hate be a bearer of a harsh POV, but if you are silly enough to leave a resident with zoningrights, you should expect these sorts of things to happen. This sort of action is not uncommon and doesoccur all the time.

I can tell you though that unless they are taking advantage ofan exploit, the CSRs will do diddely squat to help you out of your predicament. What they did was within the game boundaries and even though you may not agree with it, it is allowable. If the new residents are actively harrassing the older residents as you say, then these actions can be reported to the CSRs as harrassment and they will then do what they can to stop the harrassment (warnings, bannings, etc).

At this stage though, there are really only 2 options available to you, either wait them out, or stage a pre-emptive strike and pull your city down and start again somewhere else. Waiting for a Dev (or even TH response) is going to cause the grass to grow under your feet. It ain't gonna happen no matter what you threaten to do.

Spamming the Politician boards will not result in a major change to the game (as you requested), and will only have the effect of causing angst to Pappi, and aggravating all of us here. Sorry but blackmail is a stupid way of going about this. It doesn't work in r/t, and it sure doesn't work in here.

Use your head mate.

This is the reason why ONLY myself or my militia (read: co-guildleader) will ever be able to place houses. We place the house, then transfer the structure to the new resident. NEVER at any time does a new resident get access to zoning rights.

StumanKadir/Kaessa: I hear what you are saying and we have adopted more stringent polices. However the need for these policies is based on there being missing parts in the Mayor toolbelt.

The mayor should be able to evict. You should be able to clean up after citizans who quit the game for example but have left 2 years maintenance on their houses.

- Pappi

I don't want to cause you grief. The game has basically been ruined for half my city. 2 Inner council members out of 5 have already quit because a years hard work has gone up in smoke in the matter of one night. SOE won't touch the situation and we can't move our city without losing our XWING scavenger hunt prize. So we are stuck. And rather than complaining that what happened is unfair, I say that the Mayor should be able to clean up the mess. His powers are limiting.

In the interest of preserving your sanity, I will not post this again. No response from CSRs other than "I can't help you" isn't acceptable to a paying customer.

Here are a few things the dev's can consider doing to not allow this behavior are as follows:

1. Put a time frame around the number of houses any one person can drop. For instance, make it so no person can drop more than three houses in any given hour. The obvious reason is its just quite rediculous that one person can drop nearly 100 houses in a matter of hours.

2. Change the /transferstructure command to if you are within a city, you need zoning rights in order to receive a structure. If someone can't transfer structures to everyone and anyone without zoning rights, a small mistake like the one that happened would not be responsible for this big of a problem.

3. Allow the Mayor to at least take away all zoning rights at any time regardless of weather or not the person with the zoning rights is present. When the Milita members were trying to ban the offending party in this Silver City takeover attempt, he was magically warping around an awful lot.. be it server lag, exploit, or the magic /unstick command. Being able to do this would have also corrected the problem before it got this out of hand.

4. While Mayors run the city, they don't seem to have a lot of power, and probably shouldn't have alot of power when it comes to houses. However, mayors should deserve the right to remove any structure where no residency is declared. House, factory, or harvester. While currently, the offending PA's do not have the numbers to overtake the city, we still have nearly 100 unsightly houses to look at, which are also taking up space to allow for future growth.

Hostile takeover of cities is part of the game. These people found a way to do it, more power to them.

We should not have the powers you are talking about. A city is not owned by anyone. To me you donate the city hall to the game once you plant it, after that it is politics to see who stays on top.

You are entitled to your opinion of course. But to allow a city to best it can be, you should be able rearrange it and dispose of unused property.

But also, I think Banzi's point is solid. Transfer Structure should not work unless the person you are transfering to has zoning rights.

For me ... cities don't belong to anybody. I think you shouldn't reall even have the option to forbid somebody from building inside "your" town ... the land is there for everybody ... the only reason we have zoning active is for building up a decent city layout ...

Giving any player the power to let a house go *poof* will never happen!

What you can do to not let this happen:

- Place the buildings yourselves so you really have 100% control

- after the person set his house type /grantz gain => you revoke zoning rights!

If /transfers is really "exploiting" or something simular is only up to the devs to decide ... I find it rather a very interesting method of trying to really play politics about power

I would be in favor of being able to /ban citizens for a certain time (24h every 48h? - not involving enterance to city hall, of course - just city features as clone, shuttle, garage, trainers, missions - as a way for miltitia to actually impact "noisy citizens" since /citywarn is off)

As for your "I will not resond to any post not posted by an employee" way of adressing this - that is just very poor behavior in my eyes.

I'm with you on this Drag0nReb0rn. It's just an exploit and we all know it. It's also part of the cross server lot swapping and having multiple accounts

It's funny - if it was meant to bein the first place -we'd ALL have multiple characters on multiple servers. Abusing lot swapping and multiple accounts is just a way for some to workaround it.

And then, there's some who say cross server never did anything Of couse it doesn't ...Duh

There's enough city padding and harvester padding etc..etc.. going around. Will the Dev's ever wake up and put an end to it ?

It's been made pretty clear that no one owns a player city. There's nothing saying that a person can't "hijack" your city. Welcome to politics. I think you ought to slap the militia member that gave that one guy zoning rights and then didn't stick around to monitor what he did with them, and revoke rights after like 5 houses. In the end it's kinda like parking your mercedes on the street overnight in south central LA and seeing it stolen. Yeah we feel bad that you got screwed, but really, it's your own fault.

I understand your plight, but I kind of have to play devil's advocate. Yeah it sucks that those guys dropped 96 houses and are trying to hijack your city, but honestly, there is nothing that says that someone can't take over your city, and SOMEONE gave them zoning rights, so you let them do it to you. It sucks, but my sympathy only goes so far.

Sure sure, I would expect that opinion and its not far from one I might have looking in from the outside.

That said, if the mayor had more power, these situations could be avoided.

I am not quiting, but unfortunately serveral of my friends are and it is adversly affecting our fun. We are not PVP so could care less what other players want ie IMps versus rebs. We are crafters, and some are declared rebels but many are just neutral.

This happened because the Imps are not satisified with their PVP experience so they are provoking us. All they did wasget us to join intheir dissapointment in the game.

We still aren't fighting them. And many of us are quiting to play other games.

There is no useful purpose to the game to allow someone to plant 96 houses in 2 hours. It serves no purpose but to enable this type of incident. That is why I feel strongly that a limit of some kind should be placed, or the mayor have the power to stop or mitigate a infultration of this kind.

I want to at least try to help the game out by making my plea.
