Yes I would need to know why you consider it an exploit. I can't see the problem with it myself. If you had enough venders in it then it may be a cool way to make city hall look populated. Might try it myself now lol.

I currently have a vendor in my cityhall that has items that serve as datadisks for people to read chapters about the city ... speaking of which I need to make a rise about making a terminal or something so that people can read (and politicians right) about cities and whatnot. I think the roleplaying potential for this would be nice.

I have done this before, I really don't see a major exploit over it.

1) Your are not reciveing any signifigant financial benifit from it.

2) Its not hurting or hindering the game experience of any other player

3) You get the same XP rate as you would as you put it in a house next to your city hall.

In fact our first politican correspondent had a vendor in her city hall that spat out city info.

Why would it be an exploit ? The city hall is the residence of the mayor, if the mayor has merchant skills why couldnt he use his residence as a shop ?

i ask because there is no option to place a vendor in the structure terminal...

you have to actually go to another building.. create the vendor there.. then return to city hall and place it...

i have placed a couple vendors there... and have gotten a reply from a CSR saying its legal...

i was just trying to avoid any hassle from one of those wonderful players who go aroud and do nothing but try and tattle tale on anyone just for kicks...

the fact that any "creative use of game mechanics" can be deemed an exploit at the drop of a hat, i really wanted to be sure before i place a few hundred items on a vendor...

I personally don't see it as an exploit but personally I don't want to risk it.. hehe.. I'm an architect and most of my items are expensive and I hate to lose a ton of items with "vendor bug of old"

Well, lets look at what we have.. Vendors were never intended to be placed in CIty Halls. People are taking advantage of a bug and are placing vendors in those structures.. To me, thats an exploit... You are creating one more venue to make moneywhere it doesnt belong....

But the City Hall acts as the Mayors place of residence. And thus, if they wish to place a Vendor there, they should have that right.

If you, as a citizen of that city, dislike your Mayor having vendors in City Hall, then you would need to rally the vote against them.

I personally don't see it as an exploit as it doesn't harm anyone or provide an unfair advantage.

Ok, lets look at it this way.. Like I said, vendors were never intended to be in city halls.. Placing a vendor in a city hall isunfair to the regular "merchant"player. Why?.. Most of us have to place our vendors in structures that take up lots, and we pay a regular maintenance too.. A city hall doesnt take up any lots and the building is being paid with money from its citizens... Others willask "what about a city malls?".. "I see tons of vendors in those"... A city mall(guildhall or whatever)is a building that takes up lots and costs somebody(a person)maintenance.

My point is, having a vendor in a city hall is a free ride for the mayor..He would still have his 10 lots to use as he wants.

But with this 'free ride' comes risk. You are not garunteed the spot in office and the hall as your home. If you lose the election you just lost your vendors and all the items it contained (you aren't admin so you can't do anything with them right? I'm no merchant so I don't know) and either lost the vendor or lost a vendor spot on your limited number of vendors available to you. If you feel you are going to be ruler for life then yes it is a free ride, but if there is a coup the cost comes crashing down around you.

Plus the mayor has to have a place of residence within the city (home or tentthat takes up lots) in order to be able to get back on the ballot or on it originally.

Just curious.... If a doctor can place a medical center and a entertainer can place a cantina do those take lots? I am under the impression no..... and does that mean they should not place venders in those city special structures either then?
