actually, two jobs

first... think you can pull all the politician/city stuff out of your TC thread, and sticky it here? i bet you're already doing that, but i think its a great resource, and deserves to be crossposted.

second... whats the chances we can get shuttleports in smaller radii cities? i think a lot of us are in favor of this, maybe bump it down to level two? what does everyone else think about this?

Shuttleports would be all over the place if they were level 2. Level 4 is fine and 50 people aren't hard to muster

I have mixed feelings on the Shuttleport issue.

Being as introspective as I can, I think desiring a shuttleport at a lower level is mostly for selfish reasons =)

I like seeing it as a good goal to attain to.

What IS confusing to me is that it's a Tier 2 level skill block. That's confusing. There's 5 "tiers" of skills in the profession (Tier 1, 2, 3, 4, and Master) and 5 ranks to a city. I think all the stuff that requires a rank 3 city (for example) should be put (as a skill) in a Tier 3 level skill block.

Now WHY (you might ask) would I voluntarily ask for an ability to be lifted HIGHER in the skill tree? Because I'm running under the assumption that perhaps things that are HIGHER in the skill tree can be placed in a city with a lower rank. If this is NOT the case, then I think elevating the requirements higher in the skill tree would serve to show whether or not there is an absence of valuable Politician abilities in the lower skill levels that can be applied to lesser-ranking cities.

There should be a solid progression of valuable abilities both from the perspective of climbing the skill tree AND from a city climbing in rank.

i definitely see where you're coming from. and yes, it is for selfish reasons... our outpost is going to be a good 15 min run from the nearest shuttleport, and through dangerous territory as well. from what i've seen, that means that entertainer/artisan types will NEVER come out there... unless there is a shuttle. and obviously, i'm not sure if i'll be able to muster 50 people together to make that happen

as far as the skill tree, i think its pretty good. for a small city, a politician doesn't have to investa TON of skill points, to get the basic city features, so they're free to part time it. a larger city would obviously want a dedicated politician, who would see it through to master. i do think the top 2 rows are a little sparse, however, i'm sure we'll be getting some added city functionality at some point, and thats probably where it would go. starports, and such

Yeah, it's the people that are far away from stuff that will have problems =/

I hadn't thought of that too much. Hopefully player mounts will alleviate that some with decreased travel time.

You're going to have to work HARD to make your town a MUST SEE place! Good luck!!

My pa has lived ove 2.5 km away from a city for many, many months, I've spent hours of my life running to it for that reason, and there's only one easy solution.

Get a cloning center (50 people, level 3)

clone yourselves there

whenever you wanna goto you city, die.

if there's a better reason to lower the level of shuttleport, i can't think of one. i'd much rather see people using a shuttle, rather than a clone exploit. i guess the death penalty would discourage this some but... still, lets get shuttleports lower on the list

A job for me? Did you file the proper paperwork? In triplicate? With City Hall?

No? Well here it is. Initial here, initial, initial, sign, initial. Oh and sign here to indicate that you've initialed instead of signing.

As for shuttles in smaller settlements?

Not likely to happen at all.

One of the primary functions of Player Cities is to cause large groups of people to have to work together toward common goals. That wouldn't happen if everything was available to anyone with little effort.

Here's a thought. Make shuttle ports a lower level structure, but have the wait time be longer for the smaller cities. Having a shuttle port is important to encouraging city growth, but shuttles would not come out to a small village as often as a larger city.

my city is planning to be 4500 from the nearest city, so untill we get a shuttle port it is going to be a ghost town by my guessing, so moving it down the tree would be desirable, yet im still not sure i agree that it 'should' be lower, im up for the challenge anyways
