Hi,

I'm not a politician, but I couldn't think of a better cross-server place to say this, so here goes.

It occurred to me, with fationalism and cheating/greifing being formost on some people's mind, that a city structure and added role for militia could me made.

How about having a jail, and city militia having the ability to apprehend and jail 'enemies' of the city ?

Just hypothetical as I know it'd involve a lot of new game mechanics, but just wondered what you all thought to the idea (and yes it does open up a scope for a new type of greifing, but the answer would be stay out of the cities were you could get locked up!).

i like the idea, but the jail term would have to be in minutes, however it would never fly as the forums would be flooded with complaints.

I'm posting as someone who frequents the bounty hunter boards. The idea of a jail isn't bad when you consider that right nowif a BH is chasing a Jedi and he runs into an area wherehe's been banned, there's nothing he can do aboutit.I say that he should be warned that he's breaking city law if he enters the area, get a TEF from everyone in the town (or maybe just militia members) if he proceedsand ifhe's incapped he can be /imprisoned instead of DB'd. It would still give the BH a chance to follow his mark but withsome interestingrisks. (Maybe this could be a BH/Smuggler special ability) Imprisonment, I think, should hold the person in the jail temporarily (10 -30 mins) and thenboot the person out of the city without the ability to "challenge the ban"for 24 hours. For some cities in out of the way places, the BH will have a long, long walk since he can't hop on the shuttle. I wish I had more time to flesh out this idea but I'll have to leave it for now. Take care, folks.

Dang. Forgot to mention they should receive a 10% credit fine that goes into the city's treasury. They know the risks! heh heh...

you might or should be able to fine a "enemy player" if they are within your city zone lines same as sneering at the recruiting officers. Little for the city a little for me. this shoudl also work on banned people.

Actually this would be kinda neat. If an enemy of the city is killed by the militia (/banned and/or by whatever we get to replace /warn) they'll clone in the town jail structure. Once inside they can pay a fee decided by the mayor, but capped at 5-10k, to simply walk out the door no questions asked and no TEF. If they refuse then they have to sit on their arse for 10 minutes before they can leave the cell. In either case, after they leave the jail they'll have 10 minutes to leave before any militia-man can do anything to them so people can't camp a jailhouse.

I posted a loooong time ago in one of Baj's threads about an idea for a militia civic structure that is part stationhouse, part prison where you can have more control over the powers different militia-men with a terminal like PA halls are given. This could easily tie into that building or have this building grant those powers too when we get vamped.

hmm.. not a bad idea, but I don't think SOE will ever do something like this... cause of "possible" grief... yea sure people have to attack someone... right now we don't have warn (that was the reason it was removed since some use as griefing tool)

something I suggest before was the "reopening" of battlefield with some changes...

Here are my suggestions (recap since the post is old and lost)

Battlefield open

people sign up to fight the "war" after 10 people on each side signed up the battlefield "close" to the public.. then the war starts... players can place structures and such inside the field (paying by FP and credits) but can only be use inside the field... if you died.. you are out of the field and cannot re-enter until the war is over..

to win the war you must disable the main structure (not destroy) and destroy all other structure that player place.

What can be place in the field? turrets and land mines. If a hospital is placed then all register player get 1 free cloning in the battlefield then get kicked out..

once the battle is over all turrets, landmines and player structures are "clean up and destroyed" the winning team will get reward money (fixed amount = players. like 5k per player or something like that and 1k FP per player divided into the winning team)

Addition:

each side can choose a captain.... this captain can then choose what is the "max" player allow.. the other captain can agree or change it... then another player (registered) have to second the motion.. but the minimum is 10 players on each side... all players must be respective rebel/imperial

that is kinda the "gist" of it.. there are more but I'm at work hehe

what do battlefields have to do with city jails?

i do like the idea of after they are released they get kicked out of city limits and cant return for 24 hours

I set up a jail right beside City Hall.. but all my prisoners keep escaping! I just placed a small tat house and in the back room set in bars and a double bed.

oh.. I'm sorry I digress.. the reason I give idea about battlefield is that is probably the "closest" of being jail...

restricting a player (through involuntary means) is not going to happen.. sure that person chose a side to fight and lose.... (that is given) but to also jail them could cause some problem...

the only thing that can come close is locking someone from entering a city....
