last week in politics

taking a break today, no petitions/stupid posts/issues to deal with... just me and my PS2 for all concerns, suggestions, problems, etc., go find someone else.

... now that business is done *smirk*, how was your city this week?

Haven Island is reopening it's doors to new residents.

I’d like to take a moment of your time to direct your attention to a small island just off the shores of Coronet that has been reopened to new residents.

We are situated on almost *perfect* buildable land. It's just 1200m from the beaches of Coronet, ideally situated close to the throbbing heart of the galaxy. And yet, despite being so close, the fact that it's offshore means it isn't cluttered with intimidating terrain. It's all just long smooth arches of sandy foliage and a few trees and cliffs added purely for shade. Haven Island is one of the older cities on the Chimaera, founded by Mayor Kenneth early in 2003. Our city roster is currently at 60 citizens and has all the facilities that you would expect from city status, such as the Haven Island Shuttle port.

Now as with all cities we have been through our troubled times with many a citizen falling to the lure of the "hologrind". But now we are determined to resurrect Haven Island from the many Ghost cities and return it to being one of the most fun, free and socially active cities on Corellia, maybe even the Galaxy. To this end mayor Kenneth has decided to step down and peruse his long time dream of starting up a Sharnaff Farm. I have decided to step up into his place and assume the running of the city.

In these troubled times, what with the Rebellion and all Haven Island has tried to remain outside of the politics and trappings of the Galactic Civil War. We do not factionally align ourselves with any one group on the island, Rebel, Hutt and Imperial are all welcome on the island.

So what’s in it for me I hear you ask, well, since you asked.

Research Centre

Haven Island has elected to specialise as a Research Centre, this means that you get +15% added to the final "result roll" on each experimentation attempt when you are in the city. This should improve your chances of getting a "Great Success" or "Amazing Success" while lowering your chances of a critical failure, a must for all those budding artisans.

ORC Guild

The Outer Rim Corsairs (ORC) operate out of Haven Island. Membership of the guild is in no way required for citizenship, but if you are looking to meet new friends, get some help, take part or organise a hunt then give Boaby or Morton a shout, they will be glad to introduce you to the rest of the guild.

Regular Hunts.

We run several organised and impromptu events on a regular basis, these range from resource hunts to help out island craters, "Danger Planet" hunts and frequent trips to the Corvette.

Monthly 1 Million Credit lottery

As a member of the city you will be entered into the Haven Island 1 Million Credit lottery which is run once per month and as a citizen you are automatically entered and could win 1 Million credits.

Zero Tax

Tax free status, we do not charge our citizens and tax at all and that is how we will remain for the future. The city is funded through lot donations and contributions from out wealthier residents.

Free Small House & 10,000 credits

To help you get started we’ll provide you with a free small house to place on the island and 10,000 credits to get you started.

City Malls

We have two very busy malls on the island, Blue Dog Mini Mall and the ORC Guild Hall Mall. Place a vendor in the mall or start our 3rd mall and benefit from the through business as people shop at Soo’s Medicine/CM vendors or Boaby’s triple 80 armour vendor

Neutrality in the Galactic Civil War

In these troubled times, what with the Rebellion and all Haven Island has tried to remain outside of the politics and trappings of the Galactic Civil War. We do not factionally align ourselves with any one group on the island; Rebel, Hutt and Imperial are all welcome on the island.

For more information please visit our island on Corellia 1900, -4500, the nearest starport is Coronet and the nearest Shuttleport is "Haven Island", visit our website http://www.havenisland.co.uk or contact Dunwa Arche in game.

So whether you're an individual, a small guild, or just a group of real life friends who play the game together on a social basis. If you're not a griefer, you're welcome on Haven Island.

Alya'Starn, Corellia (Starsider)

Lantyssa Sei'ryuu, Clan Head, citizen report

Tonight, Mayor Nowi will be considered a master of politics. Most of the city will probably not notice, however the two of us have been looking forward to this night for some time.

The past week has been an exciting time for Alya'Starn. We had a merchant consortium move from Tatooine, bringing a small group of people with them. They found a large enough spot to build a new market area and have placed a shop in our existing Mesa Square. Nowi and myself worked with them for some time helping set things up and all of us seem very happy with the arrangement.

We had one issue that has riled up both citizens and Clan members. They were denied placement of a house on the mesa based on it being reserved for shops. Somehow they managed to place a building, using a "trick" but "not an exploit". So far all militia have denied granting zoning rights, and unfortunately the building is blocking what was one possible location for the above consortium's stores. They promised to remove the building, but so far this has yet to occur. We believe they're pretty much going to pump money into it indefinately and we have no way to remove it.

Dear Pappi:

Rauha, Naboo (Starsider)

Not too much going on this week - most people are buckling down, doing crafting and getting supplies up, or running quests of various sorts at the Aurilla (sp) Village or things related to that. We did have a couple of prospective cantina-places move into town, so we're waiting on that (exciting!).

We lost a few citizens due to inactivity (canelled accounts I'm assuming, along with house poofage) but no one we didn't expect, so far. Hopefully, our next recruiting drive will pull in some more people. We really could use a PvP guild or two to move in, along with an RP guild. We'll be concentrating our efforts towards those types of guilds next.

Ville Sura, Naboo, Wanderhome had a nice lil surprise this week. We hit metropolis. Not a whole lot of perks with it, but it's still kinda nice to say. Since we do not recruit residents (its an invite only town) it did come as a bit of a surprise.

I read so many horor stories here, of mayors that pay for the city, hostile take overs, buildings out of place, ect.. and it just makes me love the city even more.

/salute ville sura

Hello everyone!

I've created a new city and guild on Lok (Eclipse) and we've got a dozen or so members of both. The city will be neutral and the guild will be anything but rebel! The new city is called Eclipse and is located at -4444 -5590 about 1200m from Semper Fidelis.

We will be a entertainment district city once grown to level 3 which will work real well considering Semper is a medical center. We hope to draw a lot of attention due to this fact.

The new guild is the UFPS - United Federation Postal Service. If you read the trade forumns, you'll already know what we're about so i wont cross-post here!

thanks,

dishmal

Mos Alianza, Tatooine, Scylla

Long-time lurker, first time poster.
Another week in Shay'la's campaign to claim mayorship, as our incumbent, Will'iam shall be leaving in about 2 months.
Out of 82 citizens, last week I only received 9 votes. This week it's looking as I'll be receiving about 27. Still need about 14 more votes. Unfortunately, I fear those 55 are all inactive, and that one day Mos Alianza will shoot from metropolis to outpost.
Of course, not being mayor hasn't stopped me from trying to improve the city! The City Populace Program is in full effect! As I type this, an EG-6 power droid and a womprat are out wandering the city.
Hope to post more in the weeks to come!

Lots of great things happened in Imperious Novus, Dantooine on Intrepid. I had recently taken office and implemented alot of decorative changes that took alot of work. The praise from the citizens is worth it. It really makes me feel good about being a politician. Next week I will obtain master title. I did some research into the linage of mayors of the city. After discovering their terms, I had our architect make statues with their name and dates of office. They are getting put up around the inside of city hall so that years from now, there will be a record set in stone of past mayors. It is really cool. That is it for this week.

Mos Aga'me, Tatooniee on Farstar

The city was settled friday 2 week ago. it's located around 1.5 kmW ofMos Eisley

Sadly the planet has reached the City rank 3 limit, so for now, we are stuck at Rank 2.

We currently have 35 Citizens, the arear is a miners dream comming throu, resouses everwhere, so many of thoese who live nearby has been very keen on joining, altho we are stuck at rank 2 for now.

Since i am an Novice Politician, the townmeetings deside what skills i will aquire that can be used for the benefit of the city.

We'll be getting an bank later today or tomorrow and the citizens desided if we want some decorations or if we should hunt for another skill.

The City layout is still in progress, however we have been rather sucessfull in getting an large main stree with 2 main entrances into it (will perhaps post picture later )

The city's local vendors are stocked, our cantina is working as intented, we recently got an master architect into the city and he'll be getting vendors himself - so basicly, we're going forward despite the "lock" on rank 2 for now.

Best regards

RazzerKFG, Mayor
