Thread: Dropping Politician FAQ
Okay, I'm still a little confused. Let's combine the first two questions. If the current mayor drops politician and there is someone running against him but has few votes, what happens to the city? Will it still have the old mayor who is now powerless?
What if the current mayor becomes a resident outside of the city? What happens then?
One note, you do have to keep novice politician we all think...or your city will go poof. Haven't seen anyone test this idea yet, and I am not willing to ![]()

I'll second this... The inactive/uninterested mayor I replaced had dropped even novice politician a couple weeks before I stepped in and finally won the vote (a week or two after that). She remained mayor regardless.

This is what I want to know
First, you cannot declare residence elsewhere - a mayor's residence is automatically declared as the city hall once elected. Second, if you drop all politician while mayor, you will still be mayor until someone actively defeats you in an election. You will just have no power - except the power to remove items from your city. Many politicians master, set a city as the citizens want it, then drop to the bare minimums needed to function sufficiently - ie grant zoning, changing trainers, whatever is important to the city or the mayor. An example is to master, set the city specialization at Industrial society, then drop master and any others out of the skill tree that you will no longer need. You can always go back and reduce city specialization to whatever skill you have below master, ie - research center for lev 4 of the first row. Or you can drop the specialization altogether for the city - even if you are no longer a politician but are still mayor. You can never go back until you climb up the tree again, however.
