Well, I am frusterated right now. Not only is Poli a frusterating profession cuz it isn't working the way it should. But City updating isn't working the way they should either. And I think the situation I am in right now is just a stressful one. What do you all think...

Ok, so here is my stress induced diarrhea story.......

Ok so we just set up a city on Talus, since our return from quitting the game. We put me (Italy)in as mayor for a temporary way to start a city as she was just novice. The mayor we wanted who is my alt (Sune) was a mayor of another city at the time, so we would just vote her in the next update...which was lastnight. Well we got her on the ballot a week prior and had the citzens vote for her. She has 18/20 votes for a week. Update comes, and that is when all the trouble started.

Ya see, we got all excited about becoming a level 2 city, because we are that much closer to being a level 3. Sure got a long ways to go, but still that much closer. Anyways, update comes...the city advances, the citizens rejoice. Yay! We are now a village. So I log in Italy as she is also a master dancer, to have her place a cantina, and declare residence in her house that was placed within city limits, when I noticed I didn't get an email stating I had lost the election. So I look at my xp...well I got full xp for it as well. So I lay down the cantina, and have her declare residence at her house It let me declare residence. So Iwas thinking no big deal the letters were just not sent out.log Italy out, to log in Sune, Well this is where the real trouble started. Sune didn't get a letter stating she has won the election, nor did she get the experience. She hasnot gainedrights over city hall or anything. So at this time, I am going oh sheet. Something is off. Look at the ballot, and Sune's name is still on the ballot with 18 out of the 20 votes. So I log Sune out, to log Italy back in...because we all know if a mayor is in fact mayor, they can't declare residence other then the city hall. So a team mate of mine logged in, and I try to grant him zoning rights with Italy...who keep in mind still has admin rights over city hall. But I get a message stating, you must be the Mayor of the city to grant such rights....well that if now funny. The update didn't update correctly so the city now has NO mayor, yet the old mayor has admin rights on the City Hall, got xp but is no longer mayor?? WTH? And the new Mayor that was supposed to be the new mayor got no xp, No rights over city hall and didn't become mayor...she isn't able to grant rights either, as she isn't the mayor. So as of now our city is Mayorless.

I get on chat to talk with a CSR. In this case it was CSR-BrettC. We were in the middle of conversation, when he decides to leave the channel, leaving me haning there, to explain the whole situation to the new CSR that comes into the channel..CSR-AnthonyG. So I try to sum it up, cuz I just got done typing out TONSto CSR Brett trying to explain the situation and Anthony just said submit a ticket, so that is what I did. So still no response as of 11:30 PST and our city is just sitting there and nothing can be done as no one is mayor so no one can grant rights for those who wish to come in to the city as a citizen.

I just love how SOE tends to outdo themselves everytime. And lately it seems as if all the bugs and complaints lie within the Politician/City side of the game. Which is a down right shame. Not to mention the CSR's that just jerk you around, as I tend to run into 2 types of CSR's 1) The ones who hate their job so are not very helpful. or 2) The ones who love their job, cuz they know they dont have to be helpful or do anything, and get away with it.

Now granted that is not for ALL CSRs as I have had very helpful CSR's well, let me say that again...out of all my whole time playing this game, and that has been since beta. I have ran into one CSR that has gone out of his way to help people. He was the best.

Well now that I have griped a little bit, I still don't feel any better. And really wish SOE would take the time to stop and look at the poli class and the city's. They really really really need help quite badly.

You've been gone a while, and city changes have happened

Election cycles are every three weeks, and city cycles are every one week.

Sune will become the mayor once the three weeks have past (with the three week cycle starting from the date of the creation of the city, so she could be mayor this week or next week).

As to your zoning issue, if you were in a home, you will be unable to grant zoning. Step outside and try

No you misunderstood. We have no mayor. We are technically stuck between two of them.

Sune didn't update to Mayor.

Italy is no longer mayor, but has rights to the City Hall.

Couple of questions:

When did you start this city?

How much xp did the old mayor receive?

If you stand outside, inside city limits, can the old mayor still grant zoning rights?

Who is listed as Mayor at the City Terminal?

The city Has been in tact for I believe 2 weeks...it might be one.

The old mayor received the 750.

No one is able to grant zoning rights. It is almost as if, it only updated half way...wether it was supposed to keep Italy in...it didn't. or re-elect Sune...it didn't...whichever way, I reall don't care...just to get a mayor back would be nice lol.

Italy is.

Ok, here's the deal. Under the new system which went in not long ago, the City only updates mayor once every 3 weeks. So if you just put the city down, then there's no way a new mayor will get voted in until the end of that 3 week period.

The 750 xp given to the old mayor is part of the new Poli/City stuff too. It's bonus xp for the incumbent mayor.

The new mayor, who you say has 18/20 votes, will become mayor 3 weeks from the day the city was founded. At that time, they should get the admin of city hall and all the rights thereof.

As for the inability to grant zoning rights, make sure that the zoning is active and that you're outside of any/all player structures when attempting to grant zoning. Try adding people to the militia and seeing if they can grant zoning to other players. If not, then submit a ticket stating that no one has the ability to grant zoning(since that is a bug/issue).

The city Has been in tact for I believe 2 weeks...it might be one. Election now lasts three weeks instead of one just as Vshbaa stated in above. So the mayor that placed the city hall is the mayor until that 3 week is up and the votes are tallied. City pulses are still every week.

The old mayor received the 750. Incumbent receives 750 poli exp every week.

Make sure you are standing outside of a structure within the city limits. You can't grant zoning rights inside a structure.

Italy is. And Italy will remain mayor until the votes are tallied after the 3 weeks. Then who ever has the most votes after that 3 weeks will be the mayor for the next weeks. Just remember you have to register every 3 weeks for the election.

A lot has changed. All you are experiencing is the new voting cycle that was implemented a couple months ago. Once the three week election cycle is over, you will see the change.

I am experiencing the old voting cycle. But that still don't solve 2 issues.

The current mayor, cannot Grant City rights, and the city hall is not her declared residence anymore.

Well lets go through a list:

Voting is every 3 weeks ... really ... the city update is still every week, but it only checks your rank, drains the money and gives you 750 XP ...

I never had a problem with the city hall not being my residence ... how are you telling it isn't anymore? Is it in your Character Sheet? Does it say nothing (because sometimes it does when the system can't find your residence) ... or does it really say the different location?

For granting zoning rights are you outside? Have you tried reloading (sometimes I can't grant zonerights ... I simply reload and it works).

Does the supposed-to-be-mayor still have nov. Politician?

I have gotten the same error you got "about not being able to grant zoning unless your the mayor" this error has always occured when I am inside a building and trying to grant zoning rights to someone - same for anyone in my militia.

I re-read the initial post and they state:

"We put me (Italy) in as mayor for a temporary way to start a city as she was just novice"...

"So I log in Italy as she is also a master dancer, to have her place a cantina, and declare residence in her house that was placed within city limits, when I noticed I didn't get an email stating I had lost the election."

I've never attempted to use my mayor and declare residence in a house, could it be this that has messed her up? I could see where if a Mayor were to do (If its possible) the city would be in a 'limbo' state and without a mayor until the election is offically over.

No, cuz when I originally tried to declare in a house, it stated I am mayor therefore only plac eI can declare is City Hall.

I thought the update went through, but the email system went haywire. So I tried declaring in my house...and it said it was already my residence.

/shrug. Just have to see if it fixes itself next week. Suck that the town has to wait that long. But we shall see what happens, cuz the CSR's are not going to do anything about it.

Yes, the house that =was= your residence will continue to think it still is. My old house tells me it is my residence, but it lies.
