Thread: Progress on Top-Five response:
- Player-City Garages will be a part of publish 7 if possible(publish 6 is currently on TC) but definitely by publish 8, so we are looking at something a bit more than a month away for implementation of basic function player garages. There are interesting things coming along for garages and crafters, although too far out to give details now, linked to futureplanned vehicle enhancements.
- Player-city financial reports, your number two issue, is also considered an issue by the developers, so look for some news on that feature in the near future.
Great, it's always nice to get an update over silence. I'd personally prefer TH or anyone to message you with a "yeah I"m working on it...give it a week" type response over nothing at all. The garages sound fine even though it is a month and a half away, oh well they sound like they will be better then NPC ones so yay.
Could you find out how often the/a dev lurks in this forum to collect ideas and such so we know we aren't just spinning our wheels waiting for you to eventually link to a couple ideas if prompted? I'm nowhere near the communications pipeline so I have no idea if anything I've ever posted has ever even been noticed by a dev (except the one time I won Garva's homeshow...but that's just a "good job" post that doesn't really look into things) ever. I'm not expecging a reply but just to know that I"m likelydoing something more then upping my post count would be nice.

I know exactly what you are talking about, PsyChip. It does feel like you are throwing your ideas out into a great void at times. The truth is that these forums, both pre-release and now, have always had a dual nature, partiall for the player community to have a place to talk to each other, and partially for communication to the devs. The problem with this as an avenue for communication to the devs is thatthe forumsare like a firehose, and the devs have a tiny water-glass that they can fill and hold each day.
If you focus mainly on community building, communicating with your fellow players, and posting your own creative concepts for the simple enjoyment of thinking about them and then throwing them out there to be read and debated by other players, then you can have a long and enjoyable career as a SWG forum poster. If you focus entirely on communication with the devs, its going to be a frustrating excercise in futility, and you won't enjoy it.
The attempt the devs are making to turn this firehose of player feedback and participation into useful communication and data is the most wide-ranging, most ambitious attempt at mass-participatory game design I have ever seen, and putting 30+ correspondents out on the forums to bring in a manageably small portion of the flow from that firehose is an important part of their attempt toaddress that challenge.
PsyChip, your contribution to this forum does make a difference, not just in post count, and not even in number of dev responses to your posts, but in helping keep this a positive, productive forum, and by acting as a community leader to help steer this forum out of the whineplay mode that many of the SWG forums were caught up in following the game's release. I know I look forward to your posts, and generally know that I will be reading a thoughtful opinion or some interesting information when I see your name, as well as the names of many other regular contributers on this forum, at the top of a thread or post.
psyChip has a good point. It would be nice if the Devs does check out the forums, but then I thought, there are a tons.... I mean tons of idea being thrown about. Some players have some good idea from past games, some with current game, some with both, some with some background... a lot of good ideas
I am glad that there are correspondents in place to help collect some of this pool of information
Granted not all ideas are good... sometimes you just collect junk in the pool
But still... I have read many good.. and some REALLY bad ideas.... but that is what these forums are about isn't it?
The city resignation feature needs to be in the game asap.
Our town's mayor canceled his account. He came back online to let everyone know and want me to take over. Unfortunately as you listed in your top 5 there as no way to do this in a uncontested way. Now the mayor is gone and due to redeedings for harvestors, etc we are down to one milita member. The city is bascially dead as far as growth because of this issue.
All we need is a feature that allows the mayor to withdrawl from the race as long as there is at least one challenger.
Tried to log a ticket and got a "good luck in the election" response from a csr.
Well I"m not expecting replies and I guess I could have worded that post better so it didn't come off the way it did. I"m just curious if the devsare actually using the profession forums as a means of getting info and feedback or if the they are solely depending on TH and the correspondents to trim it all down for them. Either way it is great to know that we are helping the game along and even just having...well for lack of a better term "debates" with each other about how to improve the profession and other's ideas. I know that what I say isn't just wasted space but if it actually catches the eye of someone up on top instead of the middle on the heirarchy I would feel more appreciated I guess.
Thanks for the compliment too, and so you know I prefer to go by chipmunk![]()
How am I supposed to get through to the devs, if the player correspondent doesn't pay attention. Is the top issue supposed to be an easy fix??? I feel that we are wasting a chance at an actual fix if we use our number one spot on an item that is already in game. Here are the instructions, again, on how to mail your citizenry.
1) add them all to your friend list, and remove any non-citizens from the list that you don't want included on your e-mails.
2) highlight the list by clicking on the top person, then hold shift, and scroll down with either the arrow key or the mouse scroll button, click on the last person, this should select all of your friends.
3) Now, click mail. Abracadabra, and I'm not even a dev. All your citizens will be emailed, and a significant chance to get something needed in the game won't be wasted on something that is already in the game.
I VOTE FIX THE MILITIA, believe me I know you've seen my posts
