PlayerStructures

  • All maintenance fees will automatically attempt to deduct from Bank accounts after the maintenance pool has been depleted. Once a structure reaches 0 hitpoints, it will flag itself as condemned instead of deleting itself. Condemned houses are not enterable, and all other structures are not usable. To uncondemn a house, simply enter it with enough money in the bank to pay the repair cost. To uncondemn all other structures, use them with enough money in the bank to pay the costs.

Houses will no longer decay and leave the city so we will not be able to strive and keep active cities

We won't lose citizens, but a player city with no active people does not help up, it kills us

Nail in the coffin indeed....

I mean, I understand this fix eliminates the problem with lost items due to structure decay... but give me a break, if someone forgot to pay maintenance on a structure and lot all their items in it, that is their own fault.

And what are cities supposed to do with all of these "condemned" houses??? If the structures don't delete themselves are we, as politicians, getting some sort of tool to remove these condemned hosues??? Because if we don't we are going to have some really stagnant cities. How is a city supposed to expand or rebuild with condemned houses in the way... that we can't move.

Please tell me I am reading that patch note wrong. Sorry if I sound irritated, but this sounds like a step backwards for Politicians rather than a step forward.

Oh no! Say it isn't so! Please! We have been waiting months and months for some of these ghost houses to finally burn down. Please don't tell me they are doing this and NOT giving mayors some means of at least relocating a "condemned house?!" Argh!

"giving mayors some means of at least relocating a "condemned house"?"

That is a fantastic idea... Mayor having the ability to "move" a comdemned house to outside city limits.. Then have a wp added to that character so that when they get back into the game..

Make no mistake, SOE is doing this so that it's more enticing for an cancelled accout to come back some time because they know all their items are still there..

ookay, one thread's enough

I'm working on it!

... I still <3 you guys though my suggestion was actually to let us poof structures at 0 condition, but I donno if the devs would take that well O.o

*tries to stem massive panic attack over permanent ghost houses*

Question: if a condemned house cannot be entered, then just how does one enter it to pay the repair cost? And if you cannot enter to access the structure management terminal, then how do you know if you have enough money in the bank to cover the cost? Hmm?

Sad, but probably true...

How about when a house deletes itself, all items in the structure are put into a temporary bank account until the player logs back on next. Temporary bank accounts over 6 months oldwould bedeleted. Now, doesn't something like that make more sense than hanging a "condemned" sign on the door?

It looks like you just have to put enough money in the bank and walk in, then it'll automatically deduct the necessary amount...

This does hurt though...a couple empty vendor tents that are at less than 25% condition in my city from people that left...I sure hope this doesn't hit before they burn down...been waiting months to free up that spot to rezone it...

Sad thing is they would probably consider this "griefing."

Now if they could make it so items in a house temporarily expand your deposit box at the bank when it was destroyed, that would seem to be much more fitting...

well, my reasoning was that since the house would poof automatically at 0 condition before the patch, it's not really griefing anyone. the mayor can leave the structure there if the city doesn't need the land, but have a choice to remove it when the house is "dead".

Okay, quick skim through Dev posts and JustG posted in the TC thread that the condemned houses would be done in conjunction with the character purge so that houses belonging to players who have quit will be cleared but those belonging to people who are still playing will not be lost. And that this is just the first step and that the char purge is coming.

Something wicked this way comes.... Sounds scary.

If structure decay e-mails worked in a useful manner (meaning they actually let you know in a timely manner that your structure had started to decay) there wouldn't be a need for this kind of change. It takes a loooooooong time for most structures to decay. The problem with people loosing them accidentaly comes from not knowing they were decaying until it was too late to save it. Getting an e-mail at 1% doesn't help. Getting one when it first hits 0 maintenance and periodically thereafter would.

If it gets them to go through with the character purge, that's great. I was pretty much content with that answer in regards to it, because that would be way better in the long-run, I feel.

Just as long as we don't get hit with the maintenance bug, it starts sucking money out of our bank accounts, and no one tells us!
