Thread: Knowledge Base: Politician and City Questions

If you open your Holocron in the game, ctrl-H, you will find a section under Customer Service called "Knowledge Base". You can also access the Knowledge Base online at: http://help.station.sony.com/esupport/esupport/consumer/esupport.asp
We are being asked to provide feedback regarding the Knowledge Base, particularly with regard to our own area of focus, Politicians and Player Cities. The Knowledge Base has hundreds of entries answering questions about confusing game issues, not necessarily a repeat of the FAQ, and not focusing on "spoilers". You enter questions or search inquiries to get back a list of answers to those questions. For example, I found pretty much the sameten entries in response to a query on "politician" or "player city",but I foundanother eight in response to "city hall". Try your own searches and see what you can come up with.
If you have a confusing issue regarding the politician profession, skills, abilities, or anything about player cities that you can't find covered in the Knowledge Base, please post it here. They are also looking for feedbackon the the in-game version of the Knowledge Base's interface, content, etc.
Thanks for your help.
Thank you for kicking off this post Bajeezus. The Knowledge Base in game is quickly growing to cover more and more topics and provide the most accurate information possible. On a daily basis entries are published to the Knowledge Base and any errors that are located are fixed and published.ffice

The exciting thing about the Knowledge Base is that the response time for the entries can be so swift. If you locate an error in the Knowledge Base and bring it to your correspondent we can fix it and have the corrected version in game within hours or even minutes of receiving that information. Any gaps in the Knowledge Base can also be quickly filled.
I’ve asked your correspondent to start a thread like this for two reasons. First the Knowledge Base is very important to us, but right now it is under utilized. I’m working with the Correspondents and the Developers to increase awareness for the Knowledge Base. Soon we’ll be changing some things in game to make the Knowledge Base a lot more visible.
That brings me to my second reason for coming to you – information that is as complete and accurate as possible. When the Knowledge Base becomes more prominent it will be vital for it to be as complete and accurate as possible. We have been working internally and with the Correspondent program to comb the Knowledge Base and add new entries. We would really appreciate it if you could point out anything that you find to be in error, out dated, or simply missing. If you think a question needs to be asked that’s not here please post it, or send it directly to your correspondent. We’ll work to get as many into the Knowledge Base as we can.
Thank you for your support and we really hope that you find the Knowledge Base to be a useful source of information. Please keep in mind that the Knowledge Base is intended to provide information about systems and policies but will not provide direct spoilers.

Ctrl-H man, Ctrl-H
I just wanted to stop by and say that we’re very thankful for all of the input we have received from the community. Over the last few weeks the Knowledge Base has seen literally thousands of new entries in every conceivable topic. Many of the best questions have come directly from these forums.

If you have not yet taken a look at the Knowledge Base I encourage you to do so. With Publish 7 (currently ontest and coming soon to a server near you) the Knowledge Base will be more visible with some User Interface changes that are going in. We also hope to further revamp the User Interface for the Knowledge Base in the next few publishes following 7.
If you have questions regarding game systems, even if you know the answers to those questions or think they are silly, please either post here or work with your correspondent to get those questions to us. The more information we can put in the Knowledge Base the more useful it will be for all of us. We are also interested in feedback on existing entries from typos to incorrect wording or information. Bring those to your correspondent as well.
Finally I want to stress again that the Knowledge Base is one of the items in Star Wars Galaxy that we can update and modify whenever we choose. If you see that the Knowledge Base doesn’t cover a topic, or covers it poorly, get your correspondent’s attention and we’ll look at it. Changes made to entries are instantly visible in game and on the web site.
The link to the knowledge base out of game is http://station.sony.com/kb or you can find it in game by opening your Holocron (CTL H) and clicking on the Customer Service button in the lower left.

I've got one for you.
Experience vs. Active Votes.
Do we get experience only on Active votes or do we get ALL experience for running unopposed and alot of inactive votes. I want to know EXACTLY how the votes are tallied and what factor is weighed in on them. This seems to be a major issue for debate and hardship here.
Also.. if in fact we are supposed to get all the experience for all our citizens, active votes or inactive, can someone PLEASE pass this on to ALL of the CSR's so they know. It's kind of hard to get missing EXP from a CSR that says we only get exp for ACTIVE votes. This happened to me the 1st and 2nd voting period of my reign as mayor and I just got capped on the 4th week. I don't feel like sending in ANOTHER ticket only to be told I got all of my exp from a CSR that doesn't know what he/she is doing.
100 xp for each vote.
Each citizen will be a vote.
However, should someone run against you, and they recieve no votes, you will tally your vote, for the CSR, by multiplying the no. of citizens by 100 and subtracting 100 for the usurper.
OK heres a question i need some help with......
Im a mayor of a dying city on a remote planet, we have all decided to relocate the city to a more populated area. Can I re-deed the cityhall? I ask this because i need to know what happens to the 1.2 million credits in the treasury? Seeing as i can only withdraw 50k per day and im losing citizens fast, I need to move like today. Will the money still be in my treasury if i replace the cityhall in the new location?
The other way i thought of was just to buy a new cityhall and place that at the new spot. Is it possible for a politician to place a second cityhall? will that make me the mayor of two cities?
thanks

Lo ppl,
i have a query about politician, this looks as good a place as any to ask it.
I am currently a novice politician looking to take over a large city from our current mayor who cant be online much. I first registered to run 3 weeks ago and got about 20 votes (i need 54 to win). The next week i registered to run again and i still had my votes from the last week carried over, so i managed to get up to 25 votes that week. This week i registered to run again but none of my votes were carried over and i had to start form scratch. I am now up to 35 votes this week with about 9 hours before our update.
My query is what happens with votes carrying over? Do they just carry over for 1 week? Will i still keep those 35 votes for the next run or will i go back to 0 votes?
In my experience the carryover is a bug. We're in a similar situation with our original mayor leaving the game after we managed to get half the town to vote (at all) for a new guy. Well, now the new guy is never on and doesn't want to do anything so I'm up for mayor. And every week I try to get 30 or so lazy asses to the polls, and about 15 of them actually go, and I get my 1500XP and try again next week while the city chugs its way merrily down the tubes. BUt I need to re-register after every city update, and votes from before never carry over.
At least not for me. You may be special.

I believe that registering for the mayoral race as quickly as possible after the city update increases your chances of this occuring...
I am not sure if this is a bug or not, but I think it is a good thing as sure has helped in many cases to replace an old inactive mayor... Maybe we should push this through so that it isn;t a bug, but is simply the way this works ? And then, if you miss a week you are back to zero votes again.
I'd support that...
