Thread: Character Purge imminent?
Exactly why I, as the mayor of the largest player city on my server, am actively recruiting for good solid roleplayers.
Bring it!

The ability to pack houses into a datapad container. As we all know this was previously stated to be one of the technological preqs to be completed prior to a inactive character purge.
hehe I have to chuckle an evil chuckle because once the purge actually happens and all those ghost houses get stored, how many Rank 5 cities will plummet to Rank 2.Bwhahaha..ahem...
Because all those ghost citizens some Mayors used to artifically inflate their cities will go bye bye..and on the cities where the planetary cap has been reached there will be a new shuffle to see who can build shuttles as old ones go poof and new ones get built.
How many mayors out there are ready for the sudden implosion of their town if they actually get what they have been wanting with the character purge? Odds are high for some older towns to lose big and for some newer towns to gain big.
Should be interesting to say the least.
I'm ready and waiting for the purge - like i have been since Oct. 04. Although the CU did hit my city quite hard I am pretty sure we'll be safe from losing ranking.
Can we expect the multi-resident bug to be fixed at the same time?
If so... any of you mayors that have citizenship in any but your own city... DUMP THEM NOW!!!
Danger Will Robinson! Danger!

I've stressed the importance of fixing that bug/exploit before the purge. Otherwise I'm afraid it will just be expanded on by the players in order to keep dead cities alive.
While I'm still trying to get a confirmation about whether this is a precursor to the structure purge, I do recommend doing what you can to get prepared now. Look at your citizen lists, find out who is supposed to be there and who isn't. Keep a record of who is active and who isn't (using a bank tip of 1 credit is a good way to find out when someone logs in next), and ask for CSR assistance to remove non-citizens from the Citizenship List. Find out what your true numbers are *now* rather than after the purge.
They have said that they would be informing people well in advance, and that there may be a grace-period for Player Cities to rebuilt lost citizens. I wouldn't count on it. Better to plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Well, the whole idea of a "grace period" makes me upset. I have been waiting for months to get a shuttleport while ghost cities have been sitting on theirssince theCU and some forabout a year. If I meet the citizenship requirements NOW(by now, I mean at the purge)and they don't, why should they recieve a grace period so my city can sit back and wait some more? Doesn't make sense to me.
I hope there is no grace period. The newer and growing cities need to have their chance to have something that older and dead cities have been holding onto waaaaaay too long.
Just my 4 cents
Right on! I totally agree with all of this... But it makes me wonder... if there *is* a grace period, aren't existing shuttle citiy mayors just going to do the server swap thing again to ensure that they retain their cheated shuttle? (Ok, ok, this isn't *cheating*, per se, but it is definatly outside of what was intended!)
