Thread: Guild Stealing Kills?

How do you guys feel about kill steals? Last night 2 members of ANG guild on chimeara walked up to us and killed a krayt dragon we had been attacking for 20 minutes, and had a quarter dead. Now we asked these guys a few times to give some respect to other players but they just ignored us. I have just created a weaponsmith character, and really really wanted krayt tissue.

These guys are obviously very good, and very well equiepped, and killed the dragon within another 5 or 10 minutes, resulting in a wasted 30 minutes for us, and no loot. And just to put the icing on the cake, according to them, they destroyed the looted tissues, and they were only doing it to help us, even though we asked them KINDLY to leave, the entire time they were there.

Now this obviously annoys me and my fellow guild members, who arent masters of their proffesions yet, and do not have the best equipment, but wont mean a lot to you guys, as you are unattached.

So I ask, How do you feel about such actions? From my point of view, 2 out of 3 of us theres are new players, and we built up the courage to take on a giant dragon, and after that time we all had full health, so its not like we were about to do either, anyway... the question, your answer?

(P.S. I obviously cant pin the whole guild to this, and dont really want to name specific names)

(also, dont know if this is the right forum, but its the closest one i could find).

I would probably recommend posting this to your Galaxy forum if you want them to account for their actions but what they did is simply kill stealing which does nothing but grief other players.

Hopefully it'll get address in the near future so this doesn't happen anymore. I'm a big fan of encounter locking as seen in other games so I hope it finds its way here too.

Rothin, this might be a good issue to put in a grouping top 5 if it isn't already there. Other games have ways of preventing kill stealing, but it is an issue in SWG. Right now, the group that deals the most damage gets the loot. I personally prefer the group that attacks first gets the loot.

To prevent exploitation the following features need to put in place.

1. If the entire group breaks agro then the next group to attack it gets the loot. This will prevent a player from attacking everything in a cave and then breaking agro and following another group through collecting the loot with no risk.

2. There needs to be some indication for the group leader to know that they are the ones who will get the loot, so they can break off the attack and move onto another.

As far as I understand it, Grouping doesn't get its own Top 5, it'd have to be part of our Guild Top 5.

However, I am a fan of Encounter locking which prevents this mess and have already been discussing it with the other Correspondents and such, so we'll see if anything can be done.

hopefully, that event ruined our whole night, and im sure it has wrecked other peoples enjoyment, aswe realised if we moved on to another krayt, they could just do the same again, or someone else could do it.

Yeah, it is a big issue and something I will continually pursue.

This happens all the time on Chilastra. Ill be hunting w/ 2-3 guys. And a random rifleman will come by and start shooting. Next thing you know the rest of his group of riflmen and swordsmen are there and beat us to the kill. Then laugh at us. I try horassment reporting, talking to the in game csr's and basically get the same response every time. The players who outdamage you will get the loot, sorry. The real kicker is, once its dead, the group will split up, and one will follow each of my group members in case we find another.

This has been happening for a few weeks... I have a jedi and a master weaponsmith and could really use the loot drops. I refuse to pay a 12yr old millions of credits for somthing that was stolen from me. Somthing really needs to be done about this... its getting a little obsurd

Yes, it is a form of harassment, but the problem is that the CSR has to actually witness them in the act of actively following you and steal killing you repeatingly to be able to do anything about it and its very difficult to catch them in the act.

As I said, I'll make sure to bring it up again because this happens to all of us at some point and it's very, very frustrating.

It is very annoying and Rothin I am sure you are aware taht you have an uphill struggle - when you raise a ticket for harassment, they have a screen there that states that CSRs do not consider any creature to belong to anyone so there is no such complaint you can raise under the category "kill stealing."

Until lthis is acknowledged and accepted by the CSRs, it will be very difficult for this to be stopped.

This is a reply to the Group Looting thread on the In Development forum, as you can see the Devs are listening that looting rights need to be addressed as well. I and many Correspondents have been mentioning it and we'll continue to do so and offer suggestions on possible ways to improve it. I just wanted to let you know that they know it is an issue. Of course, it isn't a promise for a quick fix, but it is something they are looking into.

These changes are cool.

But the main thing I'm wondering about how to get loot rights. As it is now a single rifleman canget loot rightsover a big group of 5-10 people just because that solo rifleman out damages the best person in the group, when totaly the group does clearly more damage. This system is not working good I think.

There has to be some way to stop this. Make the groups total damage on a mob count for loot rights, not a single person.

We are investigating ways to improve the way looting rights works.
