This is great! I've thought about it on several occasions but never had time to put it together. I might have some input on a few subjects but I'll sticky this for now!

To help Jas out and answer the basic questions, I put together the list below. Use and abuse it as you will. Please let me know if I made a mistake and I'll revise it in a later post (if I decide to do this again... *grin*).

Q: Who is the Player Associations correspondent?
A: The one and only, lovely, Jascentia.

Q: Is this the forum where I can post to recruit members for our PA/guild?
A: No, please use the Player Associations thread on the top of the forum of the galaxy that you play on.

Q: Is this the forum where I can post to join a PA/guild?
A: No, please check the forum for the galaxy that you play on. Among the top/stickied posts is a Player Associations thread where the different PAs/guilds on your server has posted information. Follow the instructions they've listed to contact them.

Q: Are there any basic information about PAs/guilds from SWG?
A: Yes, please check out the player manual and here's the link to the information about PAs:
http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/manual_detail.jsp?id=58680

Q: What is the minimum number of members to have a PA/guild?
A: Five (5), you need one to drop the PA hall, who then becomes the leader, and you need to have at least a total of five (5) members within a week otherwise the guild (not the hall/structure) will be disbanded.

Q: How many lots do PA halls use?
A: At least seven (7), for the Tatooine hall, all the others require nine (9) .

Q: How do I send email to all the members in my guild?
A: Firstly, you either have to be the guild leader or a member with the "+Mail" permission. Then, address your email to "guild" (without the quotes).

Q: How do I give my guild mates permissions to enter my private house?
A: Add "guild:ABBREVIATION" (without the quotes) to the entry list. The abbreviation is the name that you have above your head between the "<>". It doesn't seem to be case sensitive.

Q: Can I use the above method, "guild:ABBREV", in order to give my guild mates ADMIN permissions/rights to my structures?
A: No, you can't. You have to manually enter their names one by one.

Q: Can I put an entry fee in my house and just add "guild:ABBREV" to my entry list so my guild mates can come into my house without having to pay the fee?
A: No, you can't. You have to manually enter their names one by one.

Q: We need to move our guild hall to another location, will our guild be disbanded when we redeed the guild hall?
A: No, your guild will not be disbanded. The guild is a separate entity from the guild hall.

Q: Can we be a guild without a guild hall?
A: Yes, but you won't be able to do any of the functions that require the guild management terminal, like sponsoring and approving new members to the guild.

Q: Can we have multiple guild halls?
A: Yes, as long as a member plants a guild hall deed, the new hall will automatically belong to the guild and you can use the terminal in the new hall just like any other guild management terminal.

Q: How much is it to maintain a guild hall?
A: 100 credits an hour, 2400 credits a day.

Q: Are the maintenance vaults shared across all the guild halls?
A: No, each maintenance vault is unique to the structure that it belongs to.

Q: Are the structure permissions the same across all the guild halls?
A: No, you will have to re-add the people that need special rights/permissions to the hall. However, "guild:ABBREV" will automatically be added to the entry list of the new halls.

Q: Can we oust our guild leader and replace him with a new one?
A: Technically you should be able to do that. You'll need over half of your members to declare allegiance to the new leader. Then once the weekly update checks come through, the new leader will be instated.

Q: How do I quit my guild?
A: Target yourself (Ctrl+1) and use the command /guildremove

Q: Can I use a guild hall as a personal house?
A: Yes. You'll just have an extra terminal in the corner that guild members can use to do guild functions.

Q: I'm the guild leader and have the guild hall using my lots. Can I transfer the hall to one of my combat-oriented folks so I can use my lots to either pursue a crafting profession and/or have a large personal house?
A: Yes. Just use the /transferstructure command like any where else. (If you don't know how to do it, make sure the person that you are transferring the hall is nearby, preferably inside the hall with you. Target them and use the command. Oh, and make sure they have enough lots free… *grin*) p.s. As with any other property, please make sure you transfer it to a person you trust.

Thanks to all that have posted in the forum. I compiled the above this from the various posts I've read and from personal experience. Hope it was helpful!!!

great guide!!

Just one question from me though, does the minimum of 5 players needed have to be active players? eg. if i got friends on another server to join the PA and then never log on the server the PA is on, will this keep the guild active?

nightsun, right now the answer would be yes... though they are putting in code to cause citizens to be removed from a city when they have been inactive for 3 weeks. Who knows what that code may be expanded to.

Can you tell me the command (or instructions) on how to start a Players Association without a Guild Hall?

Atra, the PA Hall is an absolute requirement. You can't start a PA without one.

Thanks for the quick response! The following line from the FAQ list above caused the confusion:

"Q: Can we be a guild without a guild hall?
A: Yes, but you won't be able to do any of the functions that require the guild management terminal, like sponsoring and approving new members to the guild."

So it means that you need a Guild Hall to start a Player Association but the Player Association can exist in a limited capacity if the Guild Hall is destroyed or removed for whatever reason.

Got it!

Just some things that you may want to add to the faq in its next iteration.

Mention the use of the /notepad command to send out mails and whatnot, as well to keep sub-lists of people.

Using the macros to add people to admin/entry lists.

Using the /guildstatus function to setup guild ranks.

The person that placed the PA hall and created the guild has the full access to the PA Management terminal (note: this is different from the "structure management terminal" for the PA hall).

It sounds like from your case that someone else stepped into the leadership position after the PA hall was placed. So yes, you're going to need to have a simple majority of the members to set Allegiance to the person whom you want to be set as the leader.

No, the current "owner" of the hall can't transfer the leadership, nor can he grant full access.

Hope that helps!!

IsPA Leader the only one who has full access to the PA terminal? Our current PA Leader is not the one who put down the original PA Hall, so he doesn't have access to all the options on the terminal. I assume that we need to have all PA members to set Allegiance to the current Leader in order for him to get full access. Is that the only way? Can the current "owner" of the PA Terminal grant full access to the terminal to other PA members?
