Hey all, bit of a technical question which many, many searches on the boards have failed to answer...
Our Guild Hall is owned by a long departed member of our guild and after a recent crisis (our city hall wentup in smoke
) we've become a little concerned about the Guild Hall. We are not even sure whether the owner is playing anymore since we've been unable to contact him, and there lies the point of this post.
If the owner of the Guild Hall deletes his account, will the Guild Hall immediately be destroyed, or is there a grace period where we can pressgang some unfortunate member to free his lots? Pretty sure the answer to that is adios Guild Hall, but any info would be appreciated. Also, will a CSR be willing to transfer ownership of the structure to a current guild member if the circumstances were explained? Sure this situation must have happened before, and I don't really want to bug the CSR's until I know exactly what I'm asking for. Since the guild is fairly small and noone has that kind of lot space spare, we don't want to attempt to transfer the guildhall until we really feel we need to.
Right, thats it. As I said, I'd be grateful for any info at all on the above. Thanks, Adoui.

Ok the guild hall will not poof like any structure it has to run out of maintanence. But here is your problem you don't have a guild leader. This means unless the guild leader gave some one else access you can't add new people. What you need to do is choose a new leader. Have all the the guild members vote in a new guild leader by going to the guild terminal and declaring allegence to the new person..Thevote takes a fewdays to kick inbut once it does you have a new leader.Once this is done another one of you can place a new guild hall. The guild hall will be part of the guild, a side note every guild hall a guild memeber places is part of that guild. As for the city hall well thats another story. You will need a new one and a new politician to drop it

Thanks for the reply mate, the guild hall is owned by a LONG departed member, we've had a leader for ages now
The City Hall's been replaced and a temporary mayor is grumbling about the SP he's had to give up, so alls well there. The only concern is whether the Guild Hall will be destroyed if the owner deletes his account, its on his lots and I haven't heard of SOE getting generous with structure placement lately
. Sorry but I don't think you quite got the gist of the post, sothe questionstill stands...

Generally, if the actual character is deleted (meaning the leader deleted it off the server you're on) all items that character possessed including houses will go poof as soon as its done. (I've seen it happen). At the same time, sometimes the items remain until the maint runs out. Either way, the guild itself is safe no matter what he does with his account as long as he doesn't actually disband it.
You'll just need to vote in a new leader on the terminal and then if the PA hall does go away, find someone who is able to place a new one. The guild won't disband just because the PA Hall is gone, you just can't add new people in that event.
Hope that helps.

If an account is deleted all structures under that account will be destroyed on the next server restart.

If I was you and thought the account was gonna be deleted I would start moving the stuff out asap.

Heh, thats what we reckoned. Thats for confirming it, guess I'll have to try and get a CSR to transfer the GH to someone. Cheers for the replies people.

Wrong. Tested and proved not to be the case.
As for the question at hand:
Guild will still remain active, regardless of having a PA hall down or not. All you need the PA hall for is to start a guild or use guild functions. With that said,ANY tagged member of a guild can drop a PA hall and it will have the same functionality for its members.

Don't even bother with the CSR I'm pretty sure they will do nothing for you. But follow what some of the others say. Vote in a new leader and place a new hall after the other one poofs.

Thanks for that Jedi-Scout, I hope you're right...
We've spent ages getting the Guild Hall looking good, and its more the hassle of moving everything to a new one (plus the lot space needed) thats the problem. Don't want to sound sceptical, but are you ABSOLUTELY sure thats the case? If so, we don't have a problem

Adoui, it's not 100% certain if that character is deleted it will remain. I have personally seen it go both ways, sometimes they'll remain even after a server restart and sometimes they will be destroyed as soon as the character is. One of my friends deleted his char and the house was gone very shortly after he did it, and I know for a fact the house wasn't destroyed.
So I would begin moving those items, even though it is a pain, it's the only way to ensure it'll all be safe. And like was said, anyone in the PA can drop a hall to get the PA functions. The terminal simply ties into the guild of the person placing it, if they aren't guilded they get the option to make one.
All in all, better safe than sorry.

Thanks Rothin and everyone else, guess better safe than sorry is the best way of looking at it. And with the 1 mil plus resources on my vendor alone in there it would not be a good thing at all...

Just to toss in my own anecdote... One of my guild sister's family members accidently deleted her character.I found out from a Mayor email telling me that she had been removed as a citizen.I ran to her house to find that it was gone, yet I did NOT receive the typical email to tell me that a structure had been removed... Only later did we hear about what happened to her. I had talked to her just a few days before, so I assume her house was deleted very shortly after the character was deleted.
((Happy ending: CSRs were able to restore her character, the house came back too after a server reset.))
