Thread: Guild badges

Forgive me if it's been asked and answered, but I haven't seen this suggestion in any of the threads I've browsed over the last few weeks. I would really love to have a guild badge function that I could use to honor members whose service goes above and beyond the call.

I'd like to be able to do something like /guildbadge joemember for exemplary conduct in battle ... and have it show up in the member's bio along with the server-issued badges as something like "Has been honored with a guild badge for exemplary conduct in battle."

I think it would be a great way for a guild leader to publicly show recognition for a job well done, as a reward for guild quests and so on.

Yeah, but then you'd have guys like me who would give someone a "Big Eater" or "Booze Hound" badge because they eat a lot ofCorellian Fried Ice Creamor chug Breath Of Heavens non-stop.

Yeah, too much chance for griefing and stupidity....a good idea if it has some control to counteractt he stupid people.

if they created the badges you could make that would temper the griefers

So, how do we balance griefingissues with the desire to reward our guildmates? How about letting PA Leaders apply badges from a dev-set list?I'm not sure if the Devs would go for this, but what sort of badges would you like to see? Here are a couple of ideas to start us off...

Badge of Generousity

Badge of Tactical Excellence

Badge of Recognition (generic)

Badge of Combat Merit

Badge of Comic Relief

I don't know if the devs would be up for this, and I don't know ifsystem would allow removal of badges, because there is no badge removal code in game as it stands. Something to keep in mind.

Or make it so the badge would be PA Name: Badge Name and have it so that when someone leaves a guild, they lose the badge. That way if a player is griefed by their PA, they can just leave, and the badge is gone. If they come back, the badge comes back.

Nice idea atytula. This works both ways, if a PA leader wants to revoke a badge that has been given to a member, they can kick the member out and the badges will be removed..

Actually my PA just recently set up a type of program like this on our website. I don't really think that a system like this ingame would be all that great judging by the way badges are (..event: Dead Eye..)I mean come on. My opinon if you want to set up a PA awards system use another location such as a website that way you can use it as a information library, a recruitment tool, a communications medium, a news source, jsut about anything you want. Its really helped my PA become succusful and you can use it as a example for you own if you like www.oftheshrub.com
