Well, grouping isn't merely a necessity for combat, TH. Entertainers have been hurt a great deal by this nerf, both in XP-gaining potential as well as in our capabilities to form bands or entertaining troups.

Is there any word on when we can hope for increased support for Entertainers again? Julio Torres' comments on Wired.com about 10 new songs and a new flourish system were nice...it's just a shame we can't get any word ourselves.

i remember hearing devs say that people would never have the ability to go invisible and disapear off the radar to. along with there is no way that weapon range will ever go beyound 64m and the devs telling us to stop asking for it since it will never happen...

ya, we have lost more entertainers in MEk than any other prof, our cantinas and theatres are bare...

I think 8 is fine for groups in some situations. Ive been in MANY hunting groups post CU, and if you do it right, the exp flows in and its easy to do. If you had 20 people, half of them couldnt shoot the darn thing and if they did it would only be one shot for full exp. Groups could do missions blazingly fast, with full payouts for everyone and insane exp.


I can see why you all want more people in your groups for PvP and entertaining. But I think the limit for full EXP and payout groups is perfect where it is.


Maybe make groups so up to 8 its normal but9-16 there there is 1/2 exp/payout and at 17-24 there is 1/3rd? that should remove the balance issues as far as hunting groups are concerned.


maybe also have three types of groups? PvP, entertainer, and hunting?

PvP can have 24, no shared exp or mission payout.

Ent groups can have 16, and get exp bonuses.

Hunting groups work as groups currently do?

I would except a penalty sys for diff sized groups, as I am sure most of MEK would. However havingvariousdiff types of
groups would be diff to implement. Say you have a PvP only group, how would that work battleing across planets filled with hostile creatures that agro regardless of group status? I think there would be alot more questions raised with this sys, and alot more potential for griefing, or exploiting.


I am goin to champion the Raid sys as discussed in the earlier part of this thread before the great bubble was shattered. A raid sys that allows for shared loot, shared xp, expandable to 24 members, would be ideal, plus an XP penalty for each group added to the raid.

I said this is how it should work and it should happen, let's discuss it. It's been discussed by the Correspondents several times and it's been discussed in this forum a few times.

All I can do is discuss, I can't dictate to the Devs what to code, when to code it, or anything else. I'm not a SOE Employee. I'm just a player of the game who volunteered my time to help communicate the desires of the players to them, to gather issues, etc.. and that's all I can do. Ths reason TH posted in this thread was because I went ahead and asked for them to raise group limits above 8 and as you saw, and as I've been saying, the answer is "Not going to happen."

Raid like chat system.. obviously not the end goal, but something they can do in the mean time to help groups coordinate. I'm going to keep discussing a full raid system, keeping ironing out a design for it, and keep pushing it hoping it will eventually be done. When will that be? Maybe never. Maybe in a few months. I don't know and can't say.

If you guys got the impression this was "going" to happen then I apologize because I didn't mean it to come off that way. I wanted us to discuss alternatives we could submit to them to consider since as you can see, the group number isn't going to go higher than 8.

My scencer apologies for the misperception on my part. The "Never Gonna Happen" term being thrown around all over these forums is not acceptable. We have Guild Chat, we have a channel set up for imp and reb PvP, we could just as easily set up a channel for hunts. Offering us a Raid Chat is redundant. All the devs have to do is create a buttoon and a script for this to work. It solcves NONE of the issues being brought up here. But as with all past concessions, it takes time, and continued persistance.

You see...they should not be spending time coding something like that since the mechanics for it already exists in game...

And you can be sure I'll be persistant about it. I don't let our issues fall to the wayside, I bring them up any chance I get to do so. Guilds in general are the most important aspect of an MMO. We build the communities. We build the player content. We keep people interested in the game beyond what the game can do by itself. We keep the suscriptions going longer than they would if everyone solo'd. I'm doing my best to make sure that they understand this and how important our issues really are in the overall scheme.

I don't think this takes a lot of time to code. It's more of a 'quick fix' in regards to it. Since the system does already exist, they add in the ability to invite an entire group into a chat channel. It doesn't require much work, thus it's something they can do quickly. Developing an entire raid system however, that isn't a quick fix. While it would be similiar to the group system, still quite different in regards of how it'd function. So that would take more time to do.

It worked like that for a while during CU testing (presumably before they change the old system). And it's not really a good way of doing it.


Basically, a group of more than one level 80 character would have a hard time finding XP, and if someone in the group suddenly drops in the middle of a fight, so will the CL. Very baaaaad, since damage takenis governed by CL.
