I just started playing Star Wars Galaxies abouttwo weeks or so ago. So far I am Swordsman 1/1/1/1 and Novice Creature Handler. My intent is Master Swordsman, Master Creature Handler and the rest in Medic. I like to solo pve and I have no interest in pvp. I played Ultima Online for almost four years (actually I still have the account). From all of the reasearch that I done on various websites, it seems that one can solo in this game effectively. My question is what is the best way to do it? I have done plenty of reading but I really haven't gotten any information based on my specific needs (except for when I made a similar post on Stratics). What is the best template to effectively solo the game? I really like playing alone without having to depend on anyone. I want to keep Swordsman for sure. I really like the skill. I have seen templates where people have combined various melee/ranged skills to stack their various defenses. I was wondering if one of these templates would be better than Creature Handler? It would be nice to just have melee skills and not have to worry about lugging around an animal. Also Spin Attack and Area Attack seem to do the same thing. Is there a difference that I have failed to notice? Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

I like solo play myself. However, the developers have made it quite clear that they don't want this game for solo players. Swordsman is not nearly as good of a class as it was 2 months ago. They made Sword bleeds do almost no damage. If you want to solo play, I suggest you become a human if you are not already and migrate all of you stats to the mind pool. Next, Master the Combat Medic and Rifleman professions. My alt character is a Combat Medic and he can pretty much solo anything in this game with poison. Riflemen have heavy armor piercing weapons that do way more damage than our weapons and they can shoot it at a range. They have a special move called concealed shot which gives them the ability to fire without being seen by their enemies.

I suggest that you join a guild of solo players. My guild is like that. Sometimes we go on group hunts but most of the time we are on our own.

That was rather discouraging, lol. My character is human and my stats are Health 700 Action 700 and MInd 1000. I learned pretty fast that Mind was the weak point since I couldn't effectively heal it in battle. I plan on getting a helmet too. I figure that would help with some of the head hits that damage the Mind stat. I also channled most of my points into Focus and reduced Willpower so that I would expend less Mind when I heal myself.

Correction: my Action and Health are 800 not 700.

Im not going to argue the CM/rifleman flavor of the month as being very strong. Swordsman is just too much fun to give up. I solo just about everything, With the last bleed nerf we are not as strong as we used to be. I became a master doctor to give my swordsman the extra boost he needs. Being able to buff yourself, heal states, heal your ham for upwards of 2k give you a big advantage. While they nerf'd the bleeds they added food that lets you keep your mind a lot longer. I migrated all my stats to mind, focus and willpower. I buff the rest. I often get dancer/musician buffs on top of these and I feel that I am one of the strongest/exp steeling pve char in the game. You gota love a being able to solo 4 ancient rancors at the same time

I do also wear 80% kenetic armor when doing the pve thing

If only you knew the power of the Combat Medic! Soloing 4 ancient rancors is nice, but what about soloing the entire force crystal cave before it respawns? I come from a unique perspective. My alt plays one of the most overpowered (if not the most) class in the game. I want totrysoloingthe Nightsister boss as a cm. Ibet its possible. Swordsman was always inferior in PvE to Commandos, Riflemen, and Combat Medics. We once had a 5 k bleed dot. However, when I was a Commando Icould stack over 12 k. Try killing a NightsisterElder with MEDIUM armor piercing weapons. In order to touch the high endcontent you need either heavy armor piercing weapons, or poison.

Here are a few templates that will be good for the original poster: Combat Medic/Rifleman, Combat Medic/Doctor, Commando/Rifleman, Doctor/Rifleman.

Yeah, but at least you're polite.

The first steps towards Jedi may involve earning enough badges to make the mysterious stranger show up. Many of these badges can be earned by exploring, some are from quests and you also get a badge each time you master a profession.

So use that POI tab on your datapad to visit places on each planet...many will award you a badge for visiting.

I've also read after that there's a series of quests that you need to complete after the "mysterious stranger" meets you and you go to the FS village. I've also heard that the first of these quests involves assembling a loot kit, much like the gongs.

I'm new to the game (started about a month ago), and I've searched the forums for info I've needed and its been a great resource. I've checked a lot of other sites as well Trying to find out how to unlock your force sensitive character. I've read that it used to be finding holocrones, but that it is changing with the next update. Can someone point me in the right direction, A link if possible. I know some info you find searching is outdated and want to determine the best path to take.

Thanks in advance for any responces.

Well, what would you like to do most? Craft? Dance? Track people down? PvP? PvE?

Unfortunatly m8, no one knows for sure, except the devs. As you rightly stated the new patch will change the grinding way to become a jedi. they are testing the new patch on the test center, so if theres any new info it will be there, but some advice, what you see there now is a "work in progress" and could change.

The test center forum is at the bottom of the galaxy forums, last one. Heres the addy, incase you cant see it.

You wont becomming a jedi anytime soon anyway, even if they had figured it, they are saying the new way to the jedi will take much longer than grinding professions, to which i totally agree with, and hope it will take at least a few months of game time to reach.

Heya Bran,

The old system was just mastering professions. Looted and holiday gift holocrons told you what some of those professions were, and left you guess a few. It's probably not a healthy thing to try and master 20+ professions to unlock your slot in the few weeks left before it changes (pub 10).Keep an eye on what's going on on the test center boards for an insight as to whats going on with the new stuff.

Other than that, what AlwaysNeedingHelp said: Master something that you're going to enjoy playing for now would likely be your best bet.
