Ok, let's try to find the word "group" in MMORPG .... (time passes) ... nope, you don't new glasses: it's NOT there Multiplayer does indeed include both sides: solo AND group.

I'm in a guild (leader too to be exact), and i really enjoy hunting or fighting in a group. But do i (or anyone else) want to be forced to group ? i'm sure everyone can answer for itself ...

MMORPGs are about immerson, not conquest. FPSs are about conquest, not immersion.
Powergamers want a FPS, but want an audience to admire them while they do it. That is why they flock to MMORPGs. l00k 4tz me, im d4 l33tz dud3z.

Higher level mobs should require grouping. However, the loot drop or the amount of loot should be increased greatly. I like to group and I like to solo. Actually i spend most my time soloing. I think alot of people solo now, not really because they just like being alone, but because the loot system sucks for certain mobs. If I have to kill something 50+ times to get a ris segment or bh armor piece for example and it requires 10 people in a group just to kill the mob, it's like what 1 in 500 ill get the drop? Unless i luck out and the first one to get it. To encourge grouping, the number of group people should influence the drop rate and pay off and perhaps exp. Therfore, by being grouped you have a better chance of getting what you want or at least more loot to be divided amoung the group and more exp than just being solo.

Soe turned this into a single person game basically, long time ago and people have gotten use to it. Now that they want to change it people are throwing a fit. You can't really blame them sometimes asmany people do not like change. However, before you start complaining and throwing fits wait for them to releasesome more information on the subject.

badlandssunrunner, you have just discounted all that you have said by making this point. By labelling one group as griefers just because they like PvP shows that you do not see the big picture and have a very narrow view of this game and the players.

The counter point to your solo point is that this game needs some grouping. If everything in this game is soloable, then there is no point to group at all. This is very bad for an MMO especially since other games that are coming out have lots of group activities, and SWG will lose members to them if they don't make grouping a must in certain situations. The devs have clearly said that there will be soloable content, but they also said that there will be content that will require a group. There is abosolutly nothing wrong with this, as it can only improve this game.

If you are saying that everything should be soloable, then your view is completly biased and in my opinion invalid, justas if I saideverything shouldrequire a group, then myview would be completly biased. If you can agree that some content should be soloable, and some should require grouping, then I can agree and so do the devs, which means there is no point to this post.

I don't like the idea of being forced to group either. Granted, there are things, like krayts, that you should not be able to solo. But one of my favorite things to do is to go out and explore the planets. I have met many interesting beings around this galaxy, and killed them. I had no idea that it was possible to befriend The Singing Mountain Clan and do missions for them. But I did. After the cu, this will be difficult if not impossible.

Someone said that "stormtroopers don't count." Well, we are not the nameless background horde of characters. We may not be the Luke Skywalkers or Darth Vaders of the galaxy, but we are at least the Landos!

Don't get me wrong, I like to group sometimes. But I don't want to have to run around yelling "tkm looking for group" whenever I want to fight something bigger than a durni. And I certainly don't want to be exiled from areas that I pay for because I can't find a group that wants to go with me.

Lol, try playing the full CU before you criticize it. You can take on things bigger then a durni. The only difference is some content requires group play, which is a good thing. There is still lots of solo content.

Ok, so can I critisize it now?

It took me over an hour to do two missions. I chose "blue" missions (missions that were 2 leves below mine). I was incapped after using my zabrak's inate equilibrium ability, it actually caused my health to decrease, and my Force of Will skill doesn't work. Waiting 5 minutes for my health to regenerate after each battle was fun too.

If this is fast paced and exciting, I'd hate to see dull and boring.

What I think is the main point here, and I've seen this same argument all over the boards, is CHOICE. They have taken away the CHOICE to group or not to group.

Do I want to solo Kryatts? Hell, no. Same way I dont want to be able to solo a Jedi Knight. They kryatts, JKs, high-level NS) should all be group functions. Do I want to solo a Jabba Explorer camp from my own level mission? I better be able to. Can I with the new CU? Hell no! I need a group to go after missions my own level.

So gone are the days of just doing mission runs... And I get no more creds in the terms for being in a larger group.... my 78-80 level missions have a payout of 8-9k... doesnt matter if Im alone or with 8 ppl... its still 8-9k... split that up between 8ppl... 10-15 minutes per mission for 1k? does that seem fair? Especially since now Im sure the armor will run about 750k per suit....

UO did it right... ppl were crying for groups, they added CONTENT that you had to group to accomplish. Still have the choice to do everything in the rest of the game you could or could not do before, but the new CONTENT was a group only thing.

Content is a bit too hard for some devs though... *shrugs*

I take it your not a Jedi. Im 1244 LS and i cant kill a freekin quanker solo. But get this, if i group hunt I then will be hunted by BH and stand to loose much more exp than I would ever get in that group. There is NO ONE that has any suggestions on this for jedi and no one will answer any questions on it. It would seem to me that SOE gives a crapabout veterans and jedi. Or do you feel that my opinion doesnt carry any more weight than a noob?

Oh and the loot, since when do 15 ppl NEED pearls, thats just gready...what ya do is get a few sell 'em and spilt the cash. There will be less cash in the system after the CU and really it's tough crap. and TBH i dont think it will take 15 ppl to take down karyts thats just people being scared and thinking they will need a group to take down anything and that is just pathetic.

A lvl 78 Squill puts up the same fight as a lvl 78 Krayt dragon, get a life bud. The lvl system makes every lvl's difficulty the same, just a different Skin on the outside!

Erm if you notice the date that was written before the CU, even before it was put on to TC. So maybe you should look for these things before you start tell people to get a life. 'Bud'

I think you will find that everyone in group - or youif soloingwill get 8-9k each. Thats how I have been seeing it arrive in my bank and in my system message.
