This simply isn't true. Currently the only way to send an email to all your guild members is to put each one on your friends list, select all, then email. It's very confusing, especially if someone leaves the guild and you for some reason don't know about it and keep sending them guild emails.
dude it's been around for awhile. In send to, just put in guild.

Guilds with a huge number of members (hundreds) could easily drive members away due to the spam factor if everyone was using guild mail indescriminately.
That is a really good point...between the emails people already get + emails from when someone adds/leaves the guild it can get crazy quick.
