hey guys,

does anyone know whatever happened to this idea? i thought it was great and could have solved the problem of all of us who are leveling have of finding a solo group when we need it. did we ever hear anything official in regards to this?

Yes, we did. It wasn't technically possible and was causing a lot of other issues to come up so they took it back out for now and increased the range to invite to 90 meters.

I was personally very much looking forward to it because it would have allowed for you to have a Guild group all the time with the members who were on. I hope we eventually see it again.

It is technically possible, the devs just fed us that line hoping we would bite and let it go. I can see it causing bugs that would be worse then taking that feature back out, but I feel that they should keep working on it and maybe one day get it in the game. I too think that creating guild groups before everyone gets together in a comon area is a great benefit.

We don't need to go down the road of "The devs are conspiring and lieing" when they tell us why something isn't possible. Right now it is not technically possible because of other issues associated with the ranges, we need to leave it at that. Let's not resort to the conspiracy theories that become so prevelant on the other forums.

I'm sure that they will continue to work on it until the point to where it is possible because it was a popular feature a lot of people wanted.

Rothin, I write software for a living. I don't say this from a conspiricy theory viewpoint. I know it is possible, but I don't disagree it might cause bugs and problems if the code is not stable (not easily modifiable without ramifications). If it is not technically possible, then it WILL NEVER GET IMPLEMENTED, BECAUSE IT IS NOTTECHNICALLY POSSIBLE.

I said that the devs lied to us about allowing us to have two multiplayer ships with items in both, they said it couldn't be done, it is done today. It is the same here. It can be done, but they pulled it back because theycouldn't make the change now. It is technically possible, but they just need to work on it longer.

The "Not technically possible" line is to keep people from bashing them when they removed an announced feature. I don't know why they just can't say they had problems getting it to work and we pulled the feature for now. Then they can say if it is on the plate for a future patch, if the idea is shelved or if the fate of the feature is uncertain.

Idon't want to continueto argue semantics as that wasn't my point. My point is it can be done and if we continue to ask for it, they will eventually figure it out and it will get implmented.

The point I'm trying to stress here is that right now it is NOT technically possible and the Devs aren't out to lie to us or deceive us to simply pacify us. It caused issues when they tried to incorporate it and there were issues they couldn't solve at the present time so it was taken out until a time when it could be implemented and work the way it's supposed to. The aren't out to deceive us by saying it isn't technically possible. It means it can't be implemented at the current time due to limitations in place. It doesn't mean it will never happen because technology changes all the time.

Whether it was a code issue or a hardware issue, it all boils down to it was possible at this time which is exactly what they stated to us.

I am not going to debate semantics Rothin. My point remains valid. We need to keep pushing the issue until they get it working. If they don't think it is a priority in our eyes, they won't implment it.

Like I said, I really want to see it in game, so it's not something I personally plan to forget about. I try to ask for things we want to see as often as possible whenever I see an opportunity.

Ya here's the obvious problem, griefing another player with an /invite macro from across the galaxy... so a /tell works from one planet to another, why not an /invite?

Since they're not upfront with the nature of the "problem," the techies or logical among us can't come up with solutions, such as, limit them to those players mutually on a friends list, or within the /invitors guild.

I'm fairly sure they said it was 90 meters, I could be mistaken though.

Ok, done a few tests and....:

When using /invite <Name> i got it to work at 110m Whilst walking away from him. however when i ran 150m ro so away and started coming towards him to invite i only got it to work at 90m.

Then i tried it using /tar <name> and then /inv i got it to work at182m as long as i had him targeted which i could do at 90ish. I think it depends if you have seen the character or not in the past few mins and weather the server has loaded him.

So i think it's fair to say if you have them targeted you can use /invite at 182m before you un-target them and they will still get a invite to your group.

But if you use /invite <Name> then you have to be at about 90m, i got it to work at 110m at the max.
