Thread: The harsh reality of PVP

Just in regards to what Marsupial-DREAD- has mentioned, a few things to whinge and whine about and best of all prove him wrong about. Most of this will make sense if you are an avid pvper.

Dear Marsupial-DREAD- and others who either follow that same line of thought or would just like an insight.

You are ill-informed of what it's like as a gunfighter as opposed to what i think you are - a grinder.

It's obvious that you havn't participated in much pvp action whether it be dueling or just walking around overt in the city.

Saying that Pistoleer is one of the most balanced professions means my friend that you havn't done what i've already mentioned or you are a strictly PVE player and if you are ok, fair enough, us PVPers can accept your ignorance (to a certain degree).

If you duel a lot, the bar that you want to be able to attack is the blue one - the mind bar. Going head to head with a rifleman (whether they're buffed or not it doesnt matter) isn't usually the wisest choice for a pistoleer, even if he does have super good Master Doctor's buffs with 3000 health 3000 action and whatever mind, lets say 1200 after some fishak (and for some 2000+ mind with tka powerboost).

Don't go telling me that from around 50m out (or from toe to toe if they're seasoned pvpers) we stand a chance - 9 times out of 10 we will get our butts kicked. They'll shoot the blueness out of our blue bars pretty **edit** quick, and it doesnt matter how many of your beloved bleeds or body hit 3's you spam Mr Marsupial-DREAD- because you WILL be dead meat after they've finished shooting your mind bar into non existance.

Often you will see pistoleers who have also picked up a melee profession to complement our lack of doing - wait for this - PISS weak damage when it's time to PVP. And it's not often you often see red dots running around UNbuffed on Valcyn (maybe other servers too) which further screws up your bleeds/body hit 3 argument. I can for expiremental purposes duel a buffed anybody and bleed them/bodyshot 3 them as much as i want with my 1.8spd/260 dmg fwg5 and they'll regenerate pretty **edit** quick. Imagine if i let them heal with basic stims or use firstaid - i'd be doing next to nothing damagewise.

Ok so you might say to counter all this "ok fine pick up some BH pistol attacks/skills so you CAN target your beloved mind"...to which i will say "why the **** should i have to go and master one entire profession (scout) so i can become a novice in the other JUST TO BE ABLE TO TARGET THE MIND??

Will that really benefit me at the end of the day? I want to be able with reasonable confidence take a few friends with me on a little overt "session" in Bestine for example.

Sometimes we might come across a group who might have in their group a CM who can heal mind - our group usually dies first.... If we dont encounter any cm's that's good but to be honest i usually end up using more of my melee swordsman or tka skills while i fight (especially if i'm fighting riflemen - it's so gratifying using kd on them and punching/bleeding their mind into pulp. If they hit burstrun first though, they can easily turn the tables on you)
However fighting with pistols can be such a drag when you're versing someone with a 50% PSG ontop of a 90% suit of armour.

So now you might say "go and become rifleman or CM - if you hate them so much, if you envy them so much for been able to mindshot/mind poison you to death, why not join them" to which i will say, "I am a Master Pistoleer, i know my guns; (meant to anyway) WHY should i have to pick up another ranged combat profession just to be able to target the mind pool?"

Oh and how often do you dodge master rifleman headshots (let alone poisons from cm's which RARELY miss?

A pistoleer's defences, and i can safely say this after dueling/fighting many riflemen, don't allow me to dodge or counterattack many(or is it ANY? i dont look, i'm usually dead) of their mindshots.

They just keep on hitting me, rarely missing, and if they hit me with a mind hit for around 50-300 dmg (and especially if they're grouped with another rifleman) i'm dead real quick. I've seen countless times 2 riflemen take out big groups and FAST.

"Wear a helmet?" That might be your final argument to all the aforementioned Mr Marsupial-DREAD-, but nope it won't save a master pistoleer's poor head from been mind raped - trust me, i've been there. Although i havn't worn a 90% helmet yet - all the same, not all of us can afford the money to buy uber armour. (Question: anyone taken blows to the head while wearing a 90% helmet?)

As far as i see it, pvp action in which the opponent is buffed, consists mainly of targeting the opponents mind bar, whether it be by a swordman's mind bleed, or a cm's mind poison or a rifleman's/bounty hunger's mind shots. We too as master pistoleers, should have in our vast array of specials a mind attack/bleed (whether they work or not that's a different story, oh and for the record, stopping shot and fanshot might sometimes hit the mind pool...take note, i said sometimes)

It's totally ridiculous that after mastering pistoleer and various other melee professions, i am still not comfortable fighting with this profession. I'd be much more capable in combat if i could target the mind.

I'm hoping that we'll be able to do battle with 2 pistols soon, which will increase our dps. I'm also hoping that we'll be given the option to utilise a mind attack (DUH isn't what this whole whinge is about..)

I would also like to state that since having picked up swordsman and afterwards tkm to assist me in battle, i use pistoleer less and less, because it doesn't have a dedicated mind attack.

I would also like to point out that i'm not screaming for riflemen, or combat medics or swordsmen or tka's or any other profession that can target the mind to be NERFED - no, not at all.

However what would definitely ensure that things start to lean our way (by our i mean us MASTER PISTOLEERS) is if we were issued a mind attack.

Marsupial-DREAD- don't even bother replying unless you want to agree with everything i have to say which i'm sure you will once you start getting out there and killing rebels or imps (or at least trying to kill them). Mobs just dont count

Now criticise me as much as you want, but this is how I see it, at least on my server.

For those master pistoleers who have killed other players who weren't buffed, who weren't wearing armour & PSG's as most of the vets on Valcyn do, please refrain from replying with a "PISTOLEERS RULE, I KILLED 4 REBELS THE OTHER DAY WITH FANSHOT I FAIL TO SEE WHERE PVPing FROM A PISTOLEERS PERSPECTIVE IS STUFFED UP" post.

And again i thank you for reading. I hope the devs or at least Randonb take timeout to read this.

Pick up smuggler dirty fighting, panic shot is your best friend in pvp. Oh yeah one last thing, CHARGE!!! Seriously I hate ppl complaining about a rifleman when they just stay around 60-50m away from them and attack. Everyone agrees riflemen are too strong, but you can either whine about it or go kill them(I prefer the later). One last thing, do you have a stun protection comp helm? If not then why are you even pvp'ing(unless of course the resource hasnt spawned on your server, then you are screwed I guess)? Riflemen like jawa ion rilfes.

first of all yes i do have the uber armor and it works great aginst Melee but aginst a t21 or jawa its like tin foal.. even with my stun helmet he just pulls out he t21 and i go down before he even knows i had a gun out.. second point anyone here shoot a guy with ub3r comp on with a RB, DX2, or worse yet a FWG5... i use low blow, panic which are great but ocnsidering i do like 60 with last ditch and 50-70 with fanshot and stopping (btw i have a 74-361 rebublic blaster with good acc. mods). its just sick that if armor is involved its automaticly /godmode 1. Even after spending 1.4 million on armor i still think comp needs a nerfing, i know i used to make it and its sad how much AP has to do with pvp in this game. Comp should be a added thing not this 80-90% BS.. my suggestion that i've had since i was Armorsmith (2nd day after launch) that they should make each stat idividual and special protection would be a huge bonus that way.. not only wil other types of armor be used but it'll be less effective.. maybe even make more armor types. I think padded should have maybe acid protection, Kinetic Vaurn and like 40-60's others mixed around and maybe make comp that with maybe special be Energy and somehow balence it so armor would have to more situational and less like bad medium good like it is now and like Ranged/Melee/heavy based in a way. I'm not sure how the devs can work that out but this system seems pretty borked in my opinion. Also maybe make faction armor a schmatic and better maybe like no varun 50's range (after others get balence) with soem lower then others that'd fit into the damage type and obivious attributes of the armor and have somekind of bonus for wearing it overt, for example have maybe +20 defecnes or +40's acc. or sometign like that, soem clear bonus that makes it worth the FP and we see alot more overts wearing it.

The part that got me was where he refered to a good template BASED on master gunfighter. Who the hell based their EFFECTIVE template on master gunfighter?

Mastery of our proffesion is an add on, like the meditate line in TKA, or the DF line in smuggler. The only thing anyone wants from our proff are the stats bonuses to bolster the attack power from another proff. Quite simply, smuggler/commando/BH don't make you a better master pistoleer, master pistoleer makes you a better smuggler/commando/BH.

I would sooo love to not be filler, but right now, that's all we are. " I have a few skill points left over from my combat build, I s'pose I could pick up some pistoleer "

I really hate to read this. I was hoping pistol was a little more effective in pvp now. On the other hand, rifleman are pretty useless without some kind of mind buff, be it music buffs or food. I've seen carbineers and BH kill themselves with specials. Anyway, GL.

Well just hold on a bit longer and see what happens. Here are some of thechanges the devs have mentioned:


Rifleman --> 3.0 speed cap increase (haha oh that is gonna hurt)


BH ---> Eyeshot moved to master BH (no more dabbling if you want to mind spam)


CM ---> ??? yup theystill own where is that bat?


Pistoleer --> speed cap reduced to .5; introduction of a stun gun! (well at least these are pos changes)


Pistoleer\Fencer --> defense mod stacking will be removed (Nooooo! I'm going to get nerfed lol)

I agree a 110%. It doesnt matter if your packing a pre-nerf FWG5 or a Krate DX2, 25k+stat buffs, 75%mind buffs, 84%kinetic armor, and have just overdosed on Muan Gold, In PVP,

why do u use body shot3? fan shot, stopping shot, pistol whip, lowbow, last ditch, panicshot


**edit** you must suck, i own mast rifleman all the time and i pvp all the time, but im dropping fencer going mast tka soon instead soi can get some medic
