Thread: Pistoleers vs. the Deathwatch

Well I read a post about whom to take in a group to do best at the bunker and I was inspired to ask for any and all complaints, rants, or whatever about the fact that pistoleer won't be included in any reccomendations. Riflemen and even carbineers as well as pikemen no less were reccomended but will anyone take us along? Perhaps the pistoleers of each server will have to group and do it ourselves--Good thing twenty fit in a group

I'd go in with 19 other Pistoleers. Just hope that some of them are docs as well.

Looks like the DX2, and sometimes the Republic is gonna be our best bet for damage types.

so... energy, fire, stun, acid, and kinetic damage arn't much good in the DW bunker?


As far as I have seen pistol can fit into about any group for anything. Only thing you are missing is armor piercing of greater than light and some cases none at all.

Actually I think only the SBD has 100% resist to blast and cold and there is one npc that has 100% resist to acid. All other damage types are not really affected that much


The armoris the major problem with pistoleers in the new dungeon. Only one mob type has light armor and the rest have medium armor and the SBD has heavy. That means except for that one mob expect to fight with at least 50% damage reduction and up to about 95% damage reduction against the SBD.

Until the devs realise that pistoleer needs himself a big dirty medium armour piercing hand cannon we will never contribute in PvE and will not be considered useful in a dungeon raiding team, the carbineer and rifleman are capable of the same damage types we are but with armour piercing and any melee profession can out-perform our kinetic pistol.


Pistoleer is a great profession but it's starting to look more and more like we're being excluded from the combat roster, at the moment an armoursmith ranks above pistoleer in the party listings in order to craft the mandalorian armour. They can waste a spot on an armoursmith but don't want a pistoleer, that's wrong.


A pistoleer has a hard time in the geonosian caves once those spawns get going, we ain't doing much in the Corvette and it seems no-one will take us into the death watch bunker, I'm not even going to ask when to expect for the next published dungeon... Bottom line, the only pistoleers going into these places are doctors.

huh.... you pistoleers.... atleast you get mroe than 2 damage

Us fencers only get 2 dmaage types and a crappy ap1 weapon

with dual wield i think we would finally be comparable with other professions

since TKA's have unarmed damage mods and that immense tanking ability, they can get by with just light AP

our state defenses really don't help THAT much since they don't help much at all compared to ranged/melee defense and mitigation....... the only thing we really have going for us is dodge and many different damage types to target certain vulnerabilities with armored mobs..... but several dungeons have had medium/heavy armored mobs with NO vulnerabilities /sigh

I'm tired of EVERY noob pistoleer spitting their **edit** about dual wield and how it will make us uber again, NO.


Firstly the devs can't program things right, only way duel wield will be done is to re-adapt multi-target to draw a second pistol. In that case, we gain nothing really, just an animation that makes us look pimp.


Secondly the ability to pull out another gun and increase our damage output slightly doesn't help us compete, in order to balance our duel wield abilities we would have to suffer a decrease in speed or accuracy or worse yet the loss of special moves in dual wield mode like with multi-target. This will effectively make pistoleer a definite poser profession for guys who want to hold a nice looking gun in each hand, but as mentioned above, all dual wield could possibly do for pistoleer is up our pimp status not our combat status.


End of discussion concerning dual wield, twirly moves and holsters and more discussion with regards to pistols, pistoleers and the future of our profession, aka what we actually NEED.

I have been pistoleer/smuggler from the start and will continue to be till the day I quit. but when I saw two master riflemen in my guild take out a giant canyon krayt pretty damn fast I begain grinding it on my alt immediatly. Kinda sad that my MBE/master riflemen alt is far more deadly than my master pistoleer/master smuggler
