I'm in the same boat, i never use fanshot. Point blank area 1 owns it for grinding any day of the week. Fan shot has uses, but not the PvE ones you think your going to get.

what do you mean it doesnt have pve uses? i only pve and i use fanshot constantly.. pistoleers are not suppose to sit and tank, theyre suppose to kite.

pointblankarea1 hits for what? 500-1k damage? while fanshot does 2-3k? and pointblank only hits within 10m or whatever?..

if you pve vs factional bases, genosians, blacksuns, anything ranged at all, or with a group, or with a friend who can tank, then fanshot kicks pointblankarea's ass

i grinded 4mil* pistol exp today in 6 hours with fanshot in geno cave

ok fine it just might be i suck at kiting seeing i have been a fencer and before that a comando as my main combat prof.

so how do i kite? dont forget that if one runs to far, the lair respawns another spawn. so what run stright out for 500-600 m then come back and repeat? circles? that is a real pain. then they dont really get all lined up.

so give some advice plz

circles, squiggles, whatever to have them stay lined up while sticking close to the lair, ofcourse dont run 600m away from lair lol

also in some cases u can run around lairs in circles spamming fanshot and stuffs will get hit, as well as periodically run back at lair to heal it and get killed.

I don't know if neone else does this - but i just stand 65m away from the lair - target that and spam fan shot.

I find the agros come and fight me - then run back to heal the lair, then come back and fight me, etc...

Whilst they're doing this I am hitting them all and invariably kill most of them as they run back and forth - whilst still damaging the lair which means no boring thing to destroy at the end.

I love fan shot. Yeah, stopping shot is good for damage, but it only hits one person, and it is much too slow. Fan shot is great, I find those groups of stormtroopers out in the wild, kneel down and hit them with fanshot. 1000-1500 damage per shot and it is going at a good speed too. They die pretty quickly too. Fan shot is amazing!! heh oh yeah, ummm Smugglers rock!

FAN SHOT ROCKS.!

I grinded the entire smuggler tree using it. I've hit at least 8 npc's at a time depending on how there grouped. Its the best shot to use when up agianst multiple enemies at a distance. I target the toughest guy and watch the rest fall around him just before i finish him off.

If there at range and in front of you you should be mopping them up. Now when they move in for H2H i run and shoot keeping them in front of my shot. But now i'm playing around with getting my fencer so when they close in that should be fun...

Now stopping shot is the one i have a problem with. Maybe my speed is not up to par yet but it seems i get more dam over time with fan shot than i do with stopping shot one on one.

Fan shot is awesome, but you're right, there are many techniques you will need to use to make it work.

Now, you should start running up the Accuracy line. You will build up pistol accuracy while moving, making that kiting really effective. You can get experience very quickly whilekiting Quenkers and other swarming mobs. For easy difficulty, try practiving on spineflap lairs on Naboo. They like to beeline for you. You can practice pulling them all away from the lair and then pulling them in another direction and lining them up.

Some mobs, like the Jantas, won't "line up" for the small AoE of the fan shot, and kiting doesn't work well, either. There are a lot of mobs that surround you, so if they get close, you're done for. That's where the Master Pistoleer "Multi Target Pistol Shot" is supposed to come in, but it doesn't.

Melee guys get nice spin/area attacks, but us ranged guys usually have to deal with cones. It's workable with some practice, and even then you have to know when to bail!

Fan Shot is a great special when used wisely. The cone is very narrow at the point its true. But by strafing, you can control the cone of fire and dish out very decent amounts of damage to multiple targets. With only a master pistoleers speed, you need only a 1.6 speed weapon or better to Fan Shot at the cap. That is in comparison to the 1.1 speed weapon needed for Stopping Shot or Last Ditch.

Trust me when i say, fanshot is the best special we get... i use it mroe than anything, you just need to know how to kite.
When using fanshot you need to run in circles, forcing all your opponents into a clump that is easily fired upon
Fanshot shoots like this:
" " <-- if you run circles around your opponents they will be in this area
" "
" "
" "
" "
" " <--- if you are point blank the shot range is very narrow

i usually go 1000 - 1500 damage per shot on each enemy, easily letting me take out a camp of jantas in 30 seconds or so... and i dont have a de-10 or anything, just a DX2
