after studieing like a good boy the faq and folowing the Path, i got tequniks IV and happily went to use my fan shot.

it sucks.

the cone is very narow, the damage is less than stoping shot and i am sry i went that way. i think i should have done the accuracy tree right after i got stopping shot, that is by far the highest damage shot so far (0142) albiet does not only hit one ham bar.

as soon as i was surounded by say 4 janta's, fan shot was only hitting one guy. so yes i did start to kite, so i can line them up behind me, but then i missed much more often and the few times i actualy hit more than one target the damage was not worth it.

very very disapointed.

am i doing something wrong? this is on eclipse btw

No, pistoleer is seriously borked is all. Fanshot does a little more damage then stopping. I think stopping is a little slower then fan, thus fanshot has higher DPS. I could be wrong though.

Try spamming Healthshot2. I didn't believe it when ppl said its better, but it does work fast. Its a about the same mount of damage as BS3, but its much faster. Personally if you had asked me what line to do first, I would have said marksman. You're right you are missing a lot, and thats why. Doesn't do much good to have high damage special if you can't hit with it.

I have to agree about the Health shot coment, I use it almost exclusively because it only targets the Health Pool. My experience has been that though its slower, in the end the target dies faster because your not having to deal with random HAM pool hits. I have tried the other specials, and though body shot seems to do the same thing, I dont get as much damage. Just my experience so far, curious to see what you guys think?

It's not that the Fan Shot cone is narrow, it's that you have to get some distance to take advantage of it. To keep that distance you have to keep running, which you might not have the accuracy for. You can also get a big pet to hide behind and just Fan Shot from prone. If you join a group, it works well.

I'm guessing the presently available combat droids aren't up to snuff if you are facing Jantas though. Certainly not as a "call and forget" pet, if you know what I mean.

Part of this is that you are facing things that are very high level, as well. Frankly nobody is supposed to be able to solo kunga missions and the like, but we can at mid levels because doctor buffs are so good.

Of course, if Point Blank Area 1 works better for you at this level, by all means use it. Health Shot 1 or 2 might be even better.

I levelled almost all of pistoleer at two rebel bases after I got fanshot....I kill more reb NPC'sin less timkiting them around the bases with fanshot than with my TKM.

Go to some bases, get mega XP AND FP and you WILL appreciate fanshot moehaha

That's where point blank area 2 comes in... or at least it would, if it wasn't completely broken. I think that come the combat balance, it'd be nice to see pba2 and pb2 be very powerful.. I mean, think of someone shoving a pistol barel in your face or gut then repeatedly pulling the trigger; that's really going to hurt ...

Er, went off tangent somewhat there I guess, but what I was trying to say is, fanshot isn't all that bad (it's one of the best working in the profession anyways); It's just that the other options that should be available to us aren't there because the rest of the specials are so useless.

stopping shot may be more damaging, but have you noticed how freaking slow that shot is?

unless you have master pistols and a 1.1 speed pistol fanshot has a higher dps, period.

ty all

i loved the "stay 64 m away and fanshot the lair" tip. the mobs (giant baz nitches - also nice tip) did start going back and forth and were mostly dead by the time the lair was at about 20%.

then i finished them off with the health-shot II one by one.

also started using the point blan area I - didnt even ocour to me to use it lol.

i am lerning to love pistoleer. no more chasing mobs. and if i am lucky the mobs are half dead by the time they reach me also i like the fact we have 4-5 diff damage types. even thogu i have atm only 3 (kinetik and stun are out of my pocket still)

Fan Shot is a great special when used wisely. The cone is very narrow at the point its true. But by strafing, you can control the cone of fire and dish out very decent amounts of damage to multiple targets.

Agreed. I have been in the squill caves recently and fanshot there causes alot of pissed of squills to come chase me. But anyway I was getting boredwith grinding so I wanted to see how many I could take on before I feigned deathed.I kept running around in circles doing figure 8s, looping around the caveren room and looking like a complete idiot I am sure. I had over 10 squills on me most of the time and I was spamming fanshot like a tkm spams ua3. I keep doing this and stayed about 15-20m the whole time and I was cleaning them out.My goal was to try to keep as many as I could in my cone. I knew it was working when most either had the deduction number or a miss.I would get down to about 2-3 and they'd start respawning. I kept that up in one buff session 2hrs 50min and I had gotten1mill xp. Which happen to be what I needed to finish my last tree. Granted I had 1,4,4,4 so accuracy wasn't a huge problem but still I was able to use Fan shot pretty effectivley in this situation. As your accuracy gets better the shot will work better. Was it better to go another way then you did? I don't really think so. You could have done accuary first but I don't really think you made any kind of mistake. If you keep the jantas out of melee range circle them or whatever it takes to get them to fall in line like good little ducks you will be able to use this special pretty effectively imo.
